Hi guys...new to the forum. I drive a 96 Accord coupe f22b2
I have been having a problem with my idle speeds... When I start the car it warms up and the idle goes down when its warm. Not a problem with that.
When I'm in park, if it is idling at the normal 650, when I gently press the gas and bring it up to 2500 rpm and then let it go, the idle will "stick" at about 1200-1300. Then I can put my foot under the gas pedal and pull upwards and the idle will drop back down to anywhere from about 350 to 600 or so. Same thing happens when I'm in gear and pull up to a stoplight it will be idling at about 1200 and I'll pull the gas pedal up and it will drop.
When I'm under the hood, I can find the thing the throttle cables are connected to, the spring loaded thing that rotates. I'll put my hands on that and bring the rpm up a little and it will still stick. Then I can rotate the thing back the other way and it will drop back down.
I cleaned my throttle body and my IAC valve today. I didn't take the throttle body apart I just cleaned and wiped everything out from the intake side of the plate, then I pushed the plate open with my finger and sprayed some throttle body cleaner in to the other side. The TB was pretty dirty but the IAC valve was filthy. I cleaned the valve real well.
Everything seems a bit more responsive, and it idles smoother now, but the same problem is still there. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'm off work tomorrow so that will give me all day to work on my car. I love it when I can say that haha.
But does anybody have any ideas here? It's not a giant problem like my car isn't going to fall apart or anything, but it's really bothering me...a lot.
Thanks guys!
