: Why Is It??

Why is it that keeping a car finish spider web free is such an impossibility? Light colored cars seem to avoid this a bit better than dark but it seems inevitable on all colors.

I take great care to avoid this on Redondo Red but the sunlight shows all. Sure I polish them out again, use the correct products and procedures but it's like ants, you can't ever seem to stop them from coming back!!

It seems even the softest of the MF towels leave their mark(s). AARRRGGHHHH!!!##%$**& It's enough to drive one to :drink:

One Answer Astroturf :lmao: :lmao: I have seen several vehicles covered with it.

The biggest contributer the problem is the clear coat(to soft) they use and the reflectivity of the finish.
It's really frustrating to spend all that time removing them and the ease of their return.. BMW and Benz don't seem to have that problem on their higher end models. Now the new C-class will be a different story... Ceramic clear..
If you run across one of those don't even waste your time trying to polish with normal compounds.

which could be achieved using brillo pads.

or one could just let stiller drive the car around for awhile.

Ummmm.... You're not using anything on the car that's been washed/dryed with fabric softener, have you? That's always a good way to get the spider webbing on your car....

Darker colors are hard to keep looking really nice, but right after a detail, it's going to be the best looking car on the block! No matter how nice a detailing job is done on a lighter color car, you're not going to get the same responses as a detailing job done on a darker colored car. :)
