View Full Version : Weird LED Behavior on Nav after USA Spec?

I installed a PA15-Hon2y the other day and ever since, the row of buttons underneath the NAV screen for the air conditioning seem to be behaving a bit differently than I remembered.

For instance, if you have Auto temp on, the LED stays lit. The way I remember it, you could then toggle the Recirculate button on and off, and Auto would remain on.

Now, Auto will turn off when Recirc is pressed, but the temperature still remains on the little LCD above the main one, so I assume that means Auto is still in effect.

Weird eh?

Is this a known issue? It seems bizarre that something as minor as that would occur--seems doubtful that it's the result of a harness not being plugged all the way in or something. Sounds more like interference from the usa spec box or something crazy like that.

I mounted the thing to the left of the stickshift, inside the center console. I couldn't fit it behind/under the head unit.

Thanks,

JOrdan

Negative test. Unplug it and see if your HVAC still behaves that way.

Auto mode will manage the system 100% for the temperature of your setting and the Dual zone setting (when set differently then yours).

When you make a change to the system such as to re-circulate the air, the system is no longer at 100% and the Auto light will go off. With that in mind, everything else in the system will stay in Auto mode (fan speed, vent direction, & A/C) until they are changed directly.

This way you can direct what you want to be controlled automatically or manually.

Note: the rear window defroster will work independently of the system. And I think that if any manual changes are made to fan speed, vent direction or A/C that the air re-circulate feature changes to manual.

So how do you like your Spec USA iPod Adaptor? I’ve just ordered it yesterday and I’m very anxious to install it. Help me out with my fear factory; I’m afraid of messing up my interior trim removing everything that needs to be removed to install the adaptor. How did your experience go with it and how do you like the adaptor?

Thanks,
Patrick

My Auto light remains lit when recirculate is selected. The only time Auto goes off is when I press the AC button and manually choose a fan speed, vent selection, or AC on/off. I will test it again with Rec off, pressing Auto, and then reselecting Rec to see if both remain lit.

I went through the paces on my AC. I turned off the recirculate, and turned off the system. Pressing Auto, the Auto light illuminated and the Rec light illuminated. Temp is set at Lo, for maximum cooling (which is why recirculate would also be selected). If I pressed Rec and turned it off, the Auto light went off as well, but fan remained at high. I don't believe the Auto feature remained on, because when I adjusted the temp to see the settings change on the LCD, the Auto indicator was not on by the fan icon. Pressing Auto again turned it back on, and the word Auto reappeared next to the fan icon in the LCD when temp was adjusted. Your AC is behaving normally. Connecting something to the Aux connector would not affect AC operation.
