Hey gang,
I'm thinking about putting a sound system in my car. Just wanted to get an idea from those that had. Does your car rattle alot? I'm afraid by installing a quality amp/sub that the car will rattle more, and it might do more harm than good. Any feedback :dunno:

I have a 12'' Rocksford Fosgate in the trunk, and it is amazing, but does rattle the car quite a bit.

If the installation is done by a quality installer...and if dynomat is used...you shouldn't have any rattles. I will be putting a system in my Accord that will be near show quality and there won't be any rattles.

Thanks accordguy...but with all the bass from the sub rattling the interior components is what I'm concerned about. The accords are already rattleboxes w/o a system. LOL

are you guys using your stock headunit or aftermarket deck? I'm thinking about just using the stock head unit for now (upgrading later) and just installing a switch that powers the sub on and off.

Im using a alipne w505 h/u...it ahhhmazing fa sho. prolly one of the best out there. & yea i have dynamat and it made the bass deeper in my car, and it cut the rattle down, as i could tell.

I plan on getting something like the Alpine W505. I want a double din unit with navigation and built-in tuner. No DVD capabilities.

Do some research man, the alpine 505 does about anything, it even plays divx movies....including dvd's

The W505 looks really nice though. I wouldn't buy the Blackbird portable (around $800) to get the navigation capability though; there is a module for that stereo that is another $300.

There's instructions for door panel removal in the Instructions forums for 2008 coupes, the diagram quality isn't very good though but it's the best solution I've found. I was going to do the DynaMat and component speakers DIY but since I ended up picking up amp and CleanSweep as well already I'm going to let the installer take care of everything.

Pretty sure you can install sub and amp using the stock head unit. I'm not sure on details for doing that though.

There are literally 100 threads on this so a search should yield you LOADS of info, but many people that keep the stock deck have used an audiocontrol LC6 or LC7 or Cleansweep or....there are options.

I wonder when I get my sub I should have it installed like that on the right side of the rear. Seems to save quite a bit of space.

Can't you just turn SVC off in the Head Unit menus?

i have the svc off but it still has the buzzing noise from about 750 rpm to 2000 rpm. it goes away after 2000 rpm. it only happen when i have the sub up high (bass) on my EQ.

i know there is a way to shut off the noise canceling thing there are other threads out there that talk about how to do that and ppl have got the feedback to stop i just gave up and put a new deck in my cubby my feedback was so bad that it blew a alpine 12" type r...or should i say 4...for those of you who dont want to break the bank fixing all the rattling....i have a 7gen with a alpine type x 12" in my car used to rattle to sh*ts i only spent about 150 to fix it and i did it all myself i dynamatted my trunk and used expanding foam. gotta be careful with the expanding foam. dont know about the other accord out there (8gen or 6 gen or coupes) but my trunk had alot of empty space which allowed the metal to rattle i put expanding foam in the trunk lid to fill that space up and it made one hell of a difference on the rattle from that not to mention the quality of the sound. another thing that rattles a lot on these cars is the rear deck...to take care of that i also used expanding foam. you want to place this foam under the rear deck right by the window since the rattling is mainly the rear deck hitting the back window. there is one other major rattle i have which is under my car but i havent had a chance to figure that one out yet...but those are some easy fixes.

Sounds more like rattling caused by increased bass than some noise cancelling mechanism at work. The noise is coming out of speakers?

i do have a rattle and its the hatshelf but the buzzing is coming out of my sub only and it cuts in at 750 rpm and cuts out at 2000rpm. So i am sure its the noise cancellation system thats doing it.

The noise is the reason why the k20 190hp has anc is due to the exhaust. That noise after u cut anc is the muffler/exhaust. This is why ive been asking if changing the exhaust with aftermarket on eliminates the drowning noise?

if the noise is coming out of the sub its definitely the noise canceling just search the thread im sure theres something on it...i just threw a new deck in my car and that fixed the problem...i think it might just be a wire in the back of the deck you might need to remove

Hopefully it does though I haven't heard any unusual noise in my music while driving. I might make a note to my installer though just in case.

No, only the 8" factory one that comes with the premium audio system. Does changing that out for a better 8" require removing the rear deck or can it be done from the bottom via trunk?

jas_s20

oh...you shouldnt hear any feedback if you have only a stock one...only aftermarket ones will...if you wanna replace it dont just put a new one in place of the 8" get a proper sub like what u have written in your "somewhere down the line" section...im pretty sure you'll hafta take your rear deck out to remove that sub

Oh I intend to get a dedicated 10 or 12", leaning toward 12" right now. The 8" I was thinking would be for mid-range. If have to remove rear deck I don't think I will bother. Plus I'm hoping installation can be done in a way that I can use the stock head unit's subwoofer controls to change the aftermarket sub's output.

Will putting a 60lb (not including box) in the rear right corner toward the back cause any issues for suspension to have that much weight sitting in one corner?

jas_s20
05-28-2009, 02:20 PM
instead of tapping the rear speakers just tap the sub using a LOC and you'll be able to control the sub from your stock deck...it shouldnt be a problem for the suspension

i think you will have a problem trying to install an amp and sub into ur factory stereo. Thats what i did thats why i have that feed back from my sub. Ur amp will recieve the noise cancellation noise and cause it to go louder since that is what an amp does. I havent found any other way to eliminate that feedback other than changing ur rfactory radio. good luck though.

What if I have the amp and sub installed to JL Audio CleanSweep which is connected to the factory radio. I won't actually have anything other than the CleanSweep going directly to the factor radio.

thats how it is sposed to be done. but, refer to audio section for step by step. no one will get nearly the results they desire here. if i may be so bold, PM jamiejam. sorry jaimejam. but, he is the authority on here. he has been through every problem one can go through with a car stereo. luck has it that he drives an 8th gen, soundstream sponsored accord as well.
