My 09 seems to be lacking acceleration at 5k+ rpm compared to my old 01. The 01 pulled harder as I got closer to redline. The 09 seems to let off at around 5k and doesn't seem to pull as hard between 5k and redline. Anyone else feel the same way about their LX/LX-P? I also had the VSA off.

if i have learned correctly, it is because these engines have i-vtec. simply put, the computer figures out the best way to get the most power to you when you need it -- throughout the entire powerband.
next time you have a chance, just nail it from 45mph and listen to the engine, you should hear distinct tones that sound like mini-vtec happenings before you get to 5100rpm, and the obviously the louder tone once it fully engages....
so its like your at half vtec then full vtec, it wont "pull" as much because it isnt an all at once shift in power, its gradual.

I mean the higher rpms doesnt seem to pull as hard as the 4-5k range. Even my 97 Accord w/o VTEC pulls harder in the 5-6k range than the 4-5k range. I just thought the 5-7k range in the 09 would pull harder than the 4-5k range.

08 Heavier Car with only 160 Torque you aint going to feel the pull like before for sure.

Torque equals acceleration...the 4 cylinder engine maximum torque is at 4300 rpms's and then its only 160 lbs. Your torque band starts to decrease above 4300 and then hp takes over...but torque is king for accelerating.

Yeah but the 01 has max torque at just under 5k rpm and the 97 has max torque at around 4k rpm but still pulls hard all the way up to redline.
