Some of you may remember about a couple weeks ago I had an Accord ready to purchase the but the dealer who it was going to be transferred from sold it. So, my dealer ordered one for me directly from the factory, and I picked it up yesterday!

To refresh those who aren't familiar, I bought a 2009 Accord EX V6 coupe with the 6 speed manual, without navigation. Silver with black interior.

I LOVE THIS CAR! It is everything I expected and more. The handling, the feel, and the value for the money. You just can't beat it (espcially what I paid, getting over $4k off sticker)

Just driving home from the dealer yesterday, I went to merge on to the freeway and there was a slow moving pickup going about 50 in front of me. I was in 4th gear, and I did not downshift - I just hit the gas a little.... when I realized I was whizzing by everyone on the freeway I looked down and saw I was doing 80 and didn't even know it!!!!! This car could get me into some trouble!

The coolest thing is that the production date on the door jam says 04/09 - she's still a baby!

I am trying to upload pics from my camera, but they're all 3 mb or more in size..... am I doing something wrong here?

When I figure this out I have plenty of pics to show everyone.

Congrates... its a great car. Depending on which way you want to take the car, she can be made to handle really nicely. Performance off the shelf parts are nearly non existent, but shes already go the power. work on that handling

What color combo did you finally get?

I don't get everyone's fascination with seeing tons of pics of stock versions of your car. :dunno:

WOW, 80MPH in 4th gear in a BRAND NEW CAR!!!:screwy:

Have you heard of a break in period. If you really love your car like you say you do, you may want to consider keeping your RPM's at a reasonable level until you've broken it in. Here's a little info for your reference off the honda owners link site:

What is the break-in period of my Honda?

Help assure your vehicle's future reliability and performance by paying extra attention to how you drive during the first 600 miles (1,000 kilometers). During this period:

Avoid full-throttle starts and rapid acceleration.
Avoid hard braking. New brakes need to be broken in by moderate use for the first 200 miles (300 km).

Good Luck My Friend.

I know, but that was totally by accident - I wasn't watching the speedometer, just paying attention to trafic and the slow truck in front of me. However, when I did look down, the RPMs were only 4500. I seriously doubt I did anything to cause improper seating of the rings or bearings...... Honda engines are redlined in every gear plus reverse at the factory to verifiy every car makes the advertised HP and TQ, and to verify quality - the bearings and rings are set right there. They do this on every car and motorcycle (probably all of their other engines too) at the end of the assembly line.

You obviously don't take the car right to the race track from the showroom floor.

I know when I bought my Prelude brand new, I was alot younger, so I pretty much threw the "break in" period out the window...... that car now has 211,000 miles and still running like a champ.

I've seen video of someone in a junkyard running an old Honda engine without oil in it and actually spraying the garden hose into the exhaust ports, and the engine never stalled.... one of the reasons to buy a Honda is their magnificent motor engineering.

I'm not making excuses, but I am saying there is no harm done - I have been babying it otherwise, it was just a one time thing so far.

As long as the rings are seated... and I am sure they are... enjoy your car. I have been. As far as bedding in the pads. My brakes wont be on the car long enough to worry about proper pad bedding

I'm going to keep it stock - not into the whole "modification" thing, and the car handles beautifully stock.

It's alabaster silver metallic with black leather.

the car handles beautifully stock.

Agrees, wholeheartedly. Special in context with the active stabilization

Lighten up, Francis. :lmao:

He said in his post "when I realized " which meant he hadn't intended to go that fast.

Congratulations on your new car!

After a week of owning this car I've put only 150 miles on it (I've driven it to work just twice), but it is an aboslutely perfect car! Those of you who one a 6-6 coupe know what I'm talking about. It is sooooo silky smooth, and the transmission shifts are very snick-snick indeed. IMHO, the Accord coupe V6 manual is about the most perfect combination of performance, luxury, styling, comfort, and value of any car sold in North America.

Honda just knows how to make fantastic cars!
