From what Ive been hearing, it would seem the Coupes are more prown to rattle than say the Sedans. Wifes new Sedan is silent in the rattle reguards. I dont have a problem with getting a Sedan for myself, but would rather have a Coupe. Just dont want rattles and sqeaks.

Thanks

I have a 05 Coupe, purchased in April. (My 1st Coupe, 4th Honda). It did have a few squeeks and rattles, espicially in the first month. Now after 3 it seems like the majority have gone away with the exception of one in the back deck, but I am not entirely convinced that its just the back seat not latched tight (I never think of it until I hear it on the road).

My only complaint about the Coupe, they definitely weren't thinkig if us 6'2 people when they designed it, my head is AWFUL close to the ceiling, another 2 inches of head room would be real nice. All I can ever picture is the begining of the Flinstones when Dino puts his head thru the roof, I feel that same way leaning towards the moonroof!

I have no rattles/squeaks or otherwise suspicious sounds in my 03 accord coupe.

Your headroom complaint may be a sunroof issue, since you lose some interior clearance for the sunroof and guts.

Moonroof is more important to me than headroom, IMO. If I wanted headroom I would have bought a bigger car!

Sun roof eats up 2" in headroom I belive. Im 6'2", and basicly set high in the saddle no matter what Im driving. Im comfy in the wifes ex sedan. Just seems that theres alot of complaints about rattles and squeaks in the coupes and that could also be that there are more coupes sold over all I think. Could be wrong. Just dont want to get my heart set on something then be really whizzed off when it rattles or squeaks. Keeping a watch on the wifes sedan.....

The only rattles and squeaks I have are from when I forget I have loose items in one of the door bins or the glovebox. Obviously not the car's fault. My coupe is built like a vault, no squeaks or rattles anywhere that aren't caused by me!

At its high point, my sedan had 4 rattles. With the help of this board and when replacing the door speakers, I fixed 3 out of the 4 rattles. The final devil is from within the steering wheel. I don't mess with airbags, so I am leaving this one to the dealer to fix.

As for headroom, I am 5'10" and thus have no problem in the EX. Make sure the power seat is as low as it can go (if you haven't already).

Of course, the best word of advice I can give would be to drive both a coupe and a sedan outfitted with what you intend to buy. I have an 04 Coupe EX-L, and I have rattles galore. Most are small, but any rattle is irritating.

I guess the thing that has really been eating at me over the past year are the windows -- they're creaking around virtually CONSTANTLY. Only on the very smoothest roads might they take a rattle break for a change. I have taken the car in to the dealer regarding noise, but although they seemed sincere, they really made no positive difference whatsoever. All they did was "condition the seals" around the windows, which didn't help one bit.

Actually, I finally just applied a couple of self-stick dots of felt right at the upper rear corner of each window's "interior" rubber seal, and that has virtually made all the difference in the world. While not perfect -- I still hear some window noise going over bumps -- at least I seem to have killed the absolutely constant busy rattle that was heretofore omnipresent. It looks like I could use a slightly thicker bit of felt, so I'm on the lookout for something a wee bit better.

In the end, my ride in an 04 sedan really was an eye-opener -- maybe it wasn't exactly "chassis flex" or whatever, but it sure felt more "solid" and "tight" than my "loosey-goosey" coupe. Maybe it has to do with just the interior materials, or those dang windows, or maybe it was even just sitting in the rather more firmly-attached-to-the-floor passenger seat, as compared to my EX-L's wobbly driver seat.

Gosh, makes the coupe sound pretty bad, eh? Well, these are all rather minute things, and I'm just one of those guys who has a low threshold of irritation about rattles and such. As for the seat, I've got the same wobble that everyone else does, and it doesn't seem that "new rails" or whatever helps for very long. The best information I've heard is that it's just the fact that you're sitting on part of a moving mechanism -- they just can't (or won't) get it to clamp down as tight as they can with a non-motorized seat.

So, I hope that helps give you some perspective, and, of course, get out there and take a few test-drives, and get to know what you like (or not) with either the sedan or the coupe!

just my .02 cents... My '04 LX I4 has 25k miles and zero rattles. The driver's seat did begin to squeak a little bit after 24,500k but I have found that its a common problem and the dealer will fix it under warranty (involves replacing the seat rails).

One thing you might want to consider also is the fact that the rear passengers' heads in the coupe will be directly under glass not roof. Wierd that Honda would do such a thing. I guess its like a permanent sunroof. :dunno: I plan on covering that part with black vinyl and then having the window tinted. The headroom back there is almost non-existent too.

i would never buy a coupe and think the back seat would ever be right under any conditions. thats why they make sedans. as a matter of fact i would prefer no back seat in a coupe. package tray would work... or would that be a rag top coupe / spider??? lmo

Maybe you could post this in the Modification section? :D

Another factor in the 2dr vs 4dr decision is that the coupe has larger doors. Good for big people, as long as there is plenty of room to swing the door wide open. If parking is tight, the longer door will not open as far and the 4dr would be better.

oh yes the doors of the coupe make it a b**** to get in and out of.

I kinda of wish the back seat wasn't there too because no back seat = a lighter, faster car

I had a similar issue with the windows on my previous car (an '02 Civic Si). I used Armorall on the metal that touches other on the door frame and the inside of the door opening. That fixed my problem for a few weeks at a time. A better lubricant might last longer, but I never tried it.

Sounds like you should get a Civic SI.

Just bought an '05 Sedan, but only for family convenience--would love another coupe.
