Ordered from handa-accessories.com, should have them in a few days, are there any pointers that will help me install them, the wiring harness hook-up seems to be the most trouble looking at the pdf instructions? Thanks. wee http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_eyes.gif

The under-hood wiring is the most troublesome. Just be sure to wear latex gloves if you don't want to get your hands dirty or covered in goop! The key is patience and to be sure you got the right plugs before putting in the three wires into the wiring harness. It helps if you got the proper tools too.. You don't want to use a wood saw (or any saw with wide teeth) to cut the bumper.. I used a metal hacksaw blade that's attached to a handle for that. As long as you follow the directions carefully, you'll be all set.

It's a somewhat "challenging" install... took me 6 hours because I am super anal.

I also thought I installed the wires in the relay harnesses incorrectly and got all heated :paranoid: ...... stopped, had a beer, and it was all better

Just take your time and it will go smoooooooooooooth. Folks like myself are glad to help if you run into any problems along the way.

How do the connector locks work? Is there 1 lock for the top pins and 1 for the bottom? How easily should they slide in to the receptacles? I think I did it right. Sorry for the blitz of questions but it is scary even after following the instructions to the letter. Thanks for your help

Assuming you mean at the relay box? At the connector at the end of the harnesses, that white thing at the base will "unsnap and swing away," and when you insert the wires into the harness, you will hear a little click as they lock in place... when I pried that white lock away, I think I fubared one of the ends because I couldn't tell how to pry it loose.... it locked back into place ok though.. what a relief! I think the work at the relay box is the most stressful part, except hacking into a brand-new bumper... imagine if you messed that up!

I think I "fubared " both of them but thanks for the input. I actually thought the cutting of the front bumper was the easiest part of it. Thankfully they made where to cut substantially thinner than the rest of it. I will do the under dash harness this afternoon and check for blown fuses

Thanks

I actually had fun cutting away the front bumper. :screwy: It's not that often you get to cut holes in your car and be able to get away with it! :D After I had the cutouts, I got a really good color chip to show people the color of my car! :D

The problem I had was grounding it to the cruise control module. I have cruise and the module wasn't where it was supposed to be. I connected the ground to the empty bolt hole on the bracket

The plug is about a foot and a half below the left firewall brace, against the shock tower.

Are you using the right directions for the '05? (http://driveaccord.net/instructions/05%204%20door%20foglights.pdf)
The one I got says it's step 45.

Actually, it doesn't really matter. The plug is in the same position. There may be a dummy plug in there that you need to remove before you can plug the wiring harness in there.

The fog lights or other black Honda accessories look much better if you paint them with a spray can of your Honda color. there are companies on the web that will supply all new car colors, one 12 oz can for about 20 bucks...

Hi, did you figure out what was wrong?

shaun1
08-05-2005, 05:57 PM
If all the wiring is correct maybe bad relays? When you plugged the 14 and 20 pin connectors back into the relay box the blade may have pushed the wires out the back of the plug. I'm obviously just guessing here but it sounds as if maybe something didn't work out of the box. I'm sure you've spent the last two days going over the install. I don't know what else it could be

if I reverse the order of the white/green and red/green, I get the switch light to come on inside the car, still no fogs, the instructions say 2002, I have a 05, still trying. weee

If you bought them at HandA didn't they come with the correct instructions? Here they are for the '05

Did you look at the link I posted for the '05 instructions (above) before you figured it out? I was guessing that it's the three wires or the relays when you said that you got the directions for the '02. I'm glad you got it working.

Chuckokie36,

That's right; I already have all the wiring installed, but my Accord is white and quite bit concern about how will look the fogs in that all white front. Do you know where I can buy a spray can??

SSMV6, the link was the same as mine, the problem was the white/green and red/green wires, I had to reverse them from what the instructions say, but that was it.

mgabriel74, I think you might be surprised how good the black fog lights will look against the white Accord. weeeeeeee

What about using a Dremel with a flex neck?

SSMV6
10-18-2005, 08:13 AM
That could work, too. I liked using the hacksaw blade since it was easier to get the cut straight, but a dremel would be ok, too. Just be sure you tape around the whole area you're cutting. :)

I believe I have reversed the white/green, red/green wires in the relay connector block. Here's the stupid question...Having opened the side lock on the connector block, I can't get the wires out to put them in the correct positions. How do you get the wires back out of the connector block? TAOT. Ken

SSMV6

There's another clip inside the plug. You have to get a thin piece of metal or something that's thin and firm, look at the plug straight on (not the wire side) and push the piece of metal in to loosen the clip before pulling the wire out. I don't have and pictures, but if you know how a zip tie works, then you know how that harness clip works. :)

Your description is what I figured. Tried a needle, tried a jewelers screwdriver, tried cussing. Guess I'll try the dealer on Monday. Thanks again. Ken

Just installed my OEM fogs yesterday. As for "unlocking" the 14 and 20 pin connectors...If you look on the side of the plugs you will see some small strips of plastic that look like a "heart" These are the hinges for the "wire lock" Take a small screw driver as stated and pry the wire lock bar away from the plug body. A possible reason it's so hard to pry away is you have to much tension on the individual wires that insert into the connecter. These are really making it hard to unlock, make sure you are not pulling on the wires as you are working on this plug. Try relieving all tension on the wires and actually push them into the connector, this should relieve tension and let the plugs lock pop right off. It worked for me.

I have a 2004 Accord EXl V6/Navi. Does anyone know how to wire the fog lights so that they come on with only the parking lights? Currently, they only work when the headlights are on low beam.

Thanks

I ripped this from HAN, but it makes more sense to me than disassembling the fuse box and moving the connector. I don't think anyone tried it yet so just test the wires with a multimeter before cutting them. It sounds like it's going to work.
