How hard/easy is it to clean the engine compartment?

I've heard that you have to seal/cover a lot of parts with plastic bags very well before spraying the compartment with water.

Is it recommended to just pop the hood and use the "engine" setting at the self-serve car wash? :dunno:

Maybe this will help: On the 97 I had, I used to do it first thing with the engine cool. Didn't cover anything. After I was done, then after I continue with the car, in & out. By the time I finish, the engine was almost dry. Then LOTS of WD-40 to the engine, hoses, belts, batt, ignition, cables, etc. Turn on the engine and let it run until the fans activate. Shut it off and then retouch with the WD-40 whatever you miss.

Never got CEL or any funky codes in 3 years I had the car. :)

Degrease the engine. You can use Simple Green. Wash it of with water. Then spray the CD2 and let it sit with the hood open for about 20 to 30 minutes. Done.......

Another believer in the CD2. I used a product by Dupont called "Engine Shine" that is no longer in production. The CD2 is just as good if not better. Thanks for the info.
