Simple question.

When is this light (Passenger Airbag OFF, located on center dash top of Hazard lights) supposed to be ON???

My guess is that it should come on when nobody or no weight is on the passenger seat

Now, the strange part is that I have NEVER seen this light on. Other that when starting the vehicle that the light comes on along with all the lights on the dash and then away.

I purchased my accord about 2 weeks ago, brand new.
Would this be something of concern?? or nothing to worry about?

helps and tips is appreciated, thanks in advance

It should turn on when you have something heavy on your passenger seat, something that's not heavy enough to be a human,
but still heavy enough for the sensors on the seat to pick up. Whenever I have two-three textbooks or my laptop on the seat, that light goes on.

Exactly!!, but the lights does NOT come ON at all!!! having weight on it or not it doesn't.

I know for sure the light works since like I said, it lights up as soon as you start the vehicle, then it goes away.

Any ideas???

I might have to take it to the dealership to have it checked.

Oh, your question confused me. You said it doesn't come on when there's no weight on,
and that sounds just about right. The light shouldn't be on when the seat is empty.
It only comes on when there's weight on the seat that doesn't constitute that of a
person in the seat.

It's made to protect a child or baby. When you have someone in the seat that only weighs 50 or so pounds, it will disable the airbag so they don't get injured unnecessarily in an accident.

These guys are right. If you want to test it, you can't have someone sit in it. I can put my backpack in the seat with my laptop and a couple binders and it will stay on throughout my drive. Try taking an encyclopedia or two. It should turn on.

+1. I have my cousin's 6 year old son ride with me sometimes on a booster seat and the light does turn on. Same thing happens when I have my briefcase on it when going to and from work.

I did read somewhere that it is a child safety feature for child or infant seats in states that don't prohibit having those child or infant seats on the front passenger seat.

when i drive home and i put my back pack on my passenger seat, the light turns on, im guessing anything that weights lighter than 20 pounds, the sensors will turn the air bag off

but thats just my thoughts

Exactly, at least you guys see the light come on. I have NEVER seen it ON while driving, with or without weight on the pass seat. strange...

If you want to test it..Have the seat empty and buckle the seat belt. The light should come on because the car thinks someone is in the seat..but there isn't enough wait to turn the bag on.

Some 5th percentile females (and even males) can set the airbag to off (where the light is on). I did some of the testing for for these PODS modules - they still don't work perfectly, so if you have a light, adult female sit in the seat, just make sure the light isn't on.

Just to clarify--
No weight, it doesn't turn on. No light.
With weight over 50lbs (I think), it doesn't turn on. No light.
With weight less than 50 lbs (I think), it turns on. Let there be light!

But yea, if it really is a problem, ask the dealership if they've had anyone
come in for your type of trouble. Hopefully it's nothing too serious.

Fer cripesakes, read your manual (Page 26). Like all American cars today, the airbag turns off when it senses the presence of a child who is too small to take the impact of an airbag in the puss.
