Last week I said that my right taillight was burnt out and had switched out the bulbs from one side to another. It turns out that there was more than one light on one side burnt out. Thus making me believe it was just one light (red lense) section. It was the two of them and went out and got two new bulbs now working. Also I went and looked at the taillight and saw that the filament was not gone away. Thus thinking bulb was ok even if a little discolored. My last car the filament would burn aways thus you knew it was burnt out.

i have noticed sometimes that when your bulb is discolored, it will also mean that it has burned out.....
of course, that may be due to my taillights and trunk leaking.....

Just as long as your spare tire does not freeze in the trunk like mine just too, it should be ok. There was always a nice well for some cold water to drink in the summer too! Ya baby!!!!!!!

The most common way for a bulb to burn out is to have a break in the filament. Sometimes the break is somewhere else or the break is so small you can barely see it. Even if a bulb's filament looks ok, it still might not light up, but that doesn't change the fact that it's still burnt out. :)
