I have Bridgestone Turanza's on mine. (05 Coupe). No problems yet at 11k miles. Best tires I ever owned were Michellins. Does anyone know what Michellins come on the Acura TSX? They seem like nice tires.

according to this: http://www.hondanews.com/CatID3039?mid=2004090153713&mime=asc

it has "P215/50R17 Michelin MXM4 V-rated tires"

The tires on the new cars these days is based on luck of the draw. Most manufacturers have a wide range of tires they can choose from depending on what was just delivered to the plant. Some Accords use the Energy MXV4 S8, while others use the Turanza EL41 (42? either #). Same with Mercedes, they switch between Michelin, Continental and others. The ML320 has General Grabbar's and Dunlop Grandtrek's...which seems ridiculous to me.

well for the Pilot, i know the leather models get Goodyear Integrity's, and the cloth models get Bridgestone Dueler H/T's. maybe Acura uses the same tires for all? i think all early TL's used Bridgestone EL42's but they were wearing poorly and flatpotting so they switched to Michelins. i'm pretty sure all MDX's have Michelin CrossTerrain's too...

...same footprint as '05 6MT Coupe......fine with me. No Bridgestone squeal like my late (non-lamented) Solara V-6 5M......... (I wonder what sort of tire life the Michelins will provide)..... I really don't fit the aggressive driver profile........

..as about the only spirited driving I do: hang back on the onramp, buying space....and then execute a "supermerge" with additional speed with which to use as needed.............(also love those big disc brakes about then.........)

best, ez

My '04 6 speed has the Michelins, their okay, very quiet which is nice on the highway. Grip is marginal, especially mid corner. Damp conditions are not nice when cornering With the HFP suspension and 20mm rear bar, I need more tire.
I'll keep them until they wear out.
Going for Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2., in 225 45 17. They actually cost less than the stockers.

Depend on the trim you have.....

I have michelin on my EX-L and I like it.

With my MDX - Touring, it has Micheline as well, but if it is MDX basic, it has Good Year.

:thumbsdow

I used to like Michelin, until I realized how expensive they were, and how there are actually better deals out there now. Their competitors have come very far recently. I look forward to getting these Michelins off my car ASAP and putting on some Goodyears, Continentals, or even Avon or Kelly-Springfield (sp?) as recommended by I1 :)

I really don't like the OEM Michelin MXV4's on my EXV6. I find that they are easy to break loose, squeal, and aren't the best for handling and cornering. I'm not sure if those situations are ideal for racing, but for the odd stoplight war :naughty:, I find the tires to be a hindrance. I'd like to do something about it, but every penny that I earn is going towards my move to DC later this month. :(

I'm in the anti-Michelin camp. I'm not a fan of Michelin tires at all. For the money. there are other tires out there that perform much better. I run separate snow tires/rims so I have the luxury of getting summer rubber that has fewer compromises - so maybe that's part of it.

I've been a fan of Dunlop and Yokohama tires. Pirelli makes some decent tires, too.

The MXVs on my 03 EXL do slide in corners when pushed hard and tend to roar a bit on certain kinds of pavement.

Mine came with the Michelobes and they're okay. A bit loud for me and the wet traction is less than I had hoped for. The wear is not even noticable @ 15K, I've rotated them once and soon to do it again.

I doubt that I'll spring for them again when the time comes, there are too many other choices for less moola.

So far i am happy with the OEM (Michelin). I have only ~1500K on the car and have not tested them in Winter or rainy days yet.

Cheers

Couldn't agree with you more. The Michelin's could definitely use more traction in the corners and less sidewall flex upon spirited driving. And they could cost a little less...

Some of their other tires are awesome (imho), Pilot Sport PS2 or the Pilot Sport Cups...although that's not really relevant for Accord discussions.

Oh yeah, almost forgot how bad that is. Haven't driven in the rain for a few months...

Only like my michelins because they track straight and last a L O N G time.

The Michs are usually more comfortable, too.. Dunlops are good for their traction, but they wear out soooo quickly! Had to go back to Michelins on my mom's Camry... We'll see how long this set lasts.. They have a treadwear rating of 790. The last set of Dunlops had a rating of 340 and only lasted a year and a half! :eek:

Do you like the OEM Tires?

Yep!!! No problems with my Michelin P205/60 R16 91V Model: Energy MXV4 All-Season Tires. See attached image for MFG. Spec's.

They felt pretty stable during the rain and had a nice grip when I negotiated the group of S-curves going up HW88 between Pine Grove and Pioneer, CA.

I'll definietly keep them until they require replacing, ... then off to Costco!

hate my bridgestone turanzas. not good in western pa weather! rainy/snowy.

i wish i had the michelin's. longer tread life atleast. although everything i'm hearing about the stock ones goes against experiences with michelin in general.... they cost more, but last longer and tend to get better traction than most.

i guess it all depends on what you want from a tire.

i have yet to buy a honda that i like the oem tires on. first civic had firestones :puke: . second had dunlops :thumbsdow and now this one with bridgestone turenzas :thumbsdow

the only car i kept long enough to haveto change the tires on was the firestone civic. replaced with bf goodrich and was very pleased with traction. rougher ride than the firestones though, but thatwas ok with me. i had had enough of the gripless firestones that didn't knowhow to tread through the smallest puddle. :rolleyes:

Michellins have been the longest lasting tires I've ever owned. The Dunlops I had were horrible in terms of wear. They wore uneven and wore out quickly. I was told NTB Tire stopped carrying them bc of these issues. They are more of a performance tire then anything else.

The Michelens are decent, ride smooth and are quiet on smooth roads. They tend to ride harder and are louder the worse the road surface. They aren't very good in the curves but they are very round and are good for interstate commuting and long life. I won't put them back on. I will be going with Yokohama Avid V4's. I have them on my Civic and they are the best tires I have ever owend, really do everything great (haven't had them in the snow yet).

I think those are different tires, there are many variants of the MXV4. The Accord uses the MXV4 S8.

Your right BenjiBoy650, ... my P205/60 R16 91V S8 ...

Treadware = 440 ...

.... not 340 as listed in the image above!

The rest is the same:

Traction = A
Temperature = A

I'm not a big fan of the stock Michelin Energy MXV4 tires (P205/60R16) on my Accord. When I first got the car I almost lost control on an offramp one day when it was raining. It was pretty scarry thinking that you might hit a guardrail with a new car. I also find the tires spin very easy (or that may be due to the 240HP & 212lbs-ft of torque!!). I don't drive very hard at all, but I have noticed their limitations on many occasions. These tires are probably great for someone who "drives like a grandmother" since they last long and are fairly quiet.

One thing I noticed is that Michelin's Canadian website (www.michelin.ca) rated these tires lower than their American site in terms of handleing, wet traction, and winter traction.

...the ring of truth hits home here.........

...would it be a fair statement that one should budget about $800 for replacement 17-inch tires? (235/45-17's have almost identical number per the Miata tire calculator) all the best, ez

$800 sounds really steep, I would think you can go lower than that with some of the tires on the market today. It's not going to say Michelin on it, but I'm willing to bet they will perform much better too.

Finally had a chance to peruse the Michelin site and my Energy MXV4 P205/60 R16 91V S8 has better Performance rating than the image I listed above and Energy MXV4 Plus!!! Cool! :thmsup:

My 99 Accord came with the Mx4 Energy's, not too bad. When I had to replace them at about 50K, I got some severe sticker shock at the replacement cost. The sales rep recommended some Pilots by Michellin and they were a FANTASTIC tire, and a HECK of a lot cheaper. Still pricy, but not the $150 a tire that they wanted for the Energy's.

05 Coupe Came with the Brigdestones, decent traction and wear (4K miles thus far) but a little more road noise then I would like.

04 Sedan came with the Michelins on steelies, which I drove for 400 miles and replaced with OEM Turanzas. The Bridgestones seemed quieter and more sticky in turns. May not last a long tho'??? Both are 16" tires.

These are probably the worst new-car tires I've had in terms of wet traction. The Michelins that came with our 98LX were the MXV4 Plus, & those were much, much better.
