Hey,

I was just curious. I know there alot of news articles and of course intelligent and DIY kind of people on these forums that say don't buy any adds-on from the dealer because they will be cheaper somewhere else. However, are there things that you bought from the dealer that you are glad you did, wish you had, or would think twice for your next car/Honda?

For me I always think of the Remote Starter. I know that most of the aftermarket ones can go farther which is a plus. But some can interfere with the alarm system. Also, I have noticed in that some aftermarket remote systems/companies install a flashing blue or green lights in your car.

Is there anything you may want done at a dealer even if the price may be just slightly higher than a local shop?

Nothing....I got all the bells & whistles offered at the time except the back up mirror. I didn't want it. It's been handy on the truck though.

I wish they came with memory seats, but they don't & may never. Maybe someday I'll get him to add 'em to mine. More work than it sounds like, but he'd do it for me.

We did add the blue ambient light & lighted steering wheel controls from an '05. :D And the fog lights aren't wired according to the directions. I wanted to used them with or without the headlights. (not legal, but very handy on the winding foggy roads at night in CA)

I picked the model, trim & color I wanted. No regrets.

I didn't care for any dealer installed accessories, they rediculiously rip you off on 99% of that crap.

The only hting I really wanted was the Remote Starter. but when I found out that the way the system worked requried you to shut the car off before you can enter it after remote starting it I said screw that.

The way after market systems usually work, they allow you to get in to the car, and you just turn the key before you can drive off. If you hit the brake or let downt he hand brake before putting the key in it shuts off. It just seemed like over time starting with remote and then a few minutes later having to start with key when you get in, was just a lot of useless wear and tear on the car. Add to it the rediculious cost, I could get an afermarket compustar (better alarm) w/remote start for roughly the same cost.

Seeing as I bought my car used, it wasn't so much of an issue of me not getting them, but I will be adding foglights and the security system in the future.

I was waiting to see if anyone would add on a navi. Great if it works. Expensive if it doesn't.
