Hey folks,

I am a noob here so sorry about the numb questions here.

In short, I am looking for Honda Accord 2003+ for my relatives in my home country (Belarus. Wondering how many people know where it is...).
The main requirement (besides a budget up to 7-8k in states) is to have it with manual transmission.

I realized there are not so many choices in NY, NJ and PA (i am on Long Island, I have friends in PA) though I was looking within internet in pretty long distance...

Today I was test-driving 2004 Accord DX in Brooklyn. Well, the car was more or less OK, though the mileage was decent (140k)... I was just puzzled that when I kick down accelerator pedal, the RPM gets down to about 4k when it reaches about 5k and if you hold the pedal then RPM is jumping between 4k and 5k. Is it a normal behavior? Thought RPM limit should be beyond 6 or 7k for Hondas... Any comments here?

Other than that, I was a bit upset seeing a lot of rust film under the hood in the engine compartment... Same on the back of the hood itself, wondering how long it would take to become a real problem in Belarus, where the winter is like in Minnesota...

Anyway, I am still up for finding a Honda with manual stick that would satisfy me and my relatives.
Any help or offers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks you,
Oleg

Sounds like the clutch is bad. Mine does not do that.

Searching autotrader, there are 40 results for a 03-05 Accord 4-door with a manual transmission. Don't know your price point, but expand that to include 06-07 models and I'm sure there are plenty of options. I suggest taking my search out of the NY/NJ metropolitan area to find a less beat on example. Good luck.

Sounds like the rev limiter. Was the car in motion when you were pressing on the gas pedal?

RPM will not go above 4k when the car is not moving. Once it is moving 5mph, it will go to redline.

Thank you for the replies, folks!

The car was not moving so I get it was OK to have rev limit at 5k RPM.

As for the price point, it would be nice to limit it to 7K and not sure 06 and 07 models fit into this budget, but I will keep looking.

Thanks again guys!

I bought a 04 Accord LX Sedan 5MT with 108k a year and a half ago for $10k. After looking at other 03-04 LX Sedans 5MT that were total shit boxes I was ready and willing to pay the full KBB private party value. Guy was original owner, car was in great shape inside and out. Finding a 5MT Accord is difficult and finding one in good condition is damn near impossible. A lot of the 5MT were former leases and this showed, they were beat to hell. Invest in CarFax and/or AutoCheck for 30 days and check to see how many owners and if it was a former lease.
