View Full Version : In love with 7.5 Gen.
dxerg3770 06-15-2009, 04:19 PM Twice, the Honda dealership gave me 7.5 gen as a loaner while they work on rear shelf creaking on my 8th gen. 1st time, they gave me LX and 2nd time they gave me an EX-L. I looked around for used 7.5 gen before I bought my 8th gen. Never actually test drove one. 7.5 gen accord is just so much more fun to drive than my 8th gen. It feels more powerful despite the fact that 8th gen has higher HP rating. It feels for responsive and nimble, again compared to my 8th gen. Not to mention I actually like the cosmetics and size of 7.5 more than 8th gen. But of course it lacks some comfort features that my 8th gen has. I mean, EX-L doesnt have automatic sunroof. I have to hold down the button? WTF? If my rear shelf creak can't be fixed, maybe i'll trade in for 7.5 gen :dunno:
SkylessKnight 06-15-2009, 04:26 PM did you have to pay to get the rental?? or they give it to you? I was told honda "stopped" giving rentals for free for warranty work... Anyway, it took me a few months go get used to the 8th gen body style. Did you have two or four door rental?

Nice folks at Huntington Honda gave me a loaner for free. Now only if they could fix the problem (fingers crossed). And both were 4 doors. Not to offend any coupe owners but I'm not a big fan of coupe styling.
Succinct 06-15-2009, 05:00 PM I mean, EX-L doesnt have automatic sunroof. I have to hold down the button? WTF?
If that is a major concern, be aware that there is an aftermarket solution to convert the 7G sunroof to a one-touch operation, and it costs $50. Cannot recall the name of the company, but check DriveAccord's FAQs and Google and you'll find it.

RedAccordV6 06-15-2009, 06:33 PM I love my 7th gen. I actually test drove an 08 V6 before picking my 7th gen and honestly i liked the 7th gen a hell of alot better. Still not a fan of those big bug headlights on the sedans and single taillight design of the 8th gen. Now the 08 coupe..........WHOLE different animal there!! I'd buy one right now but i need 4drs for easy access to my kids carseat.
cobra94563 06-16-2009, 07:01 AM interesting comment... anyone able to comment on difference in the coupes? :lurk:
07 2.4 SE 06-16-2009, 07:17 AM Compare the Car and driver figures.
7.5 Gen 0-60- 8.1 sec
8th 0-60 8.2
I believe the 1/4 mile is the same

And the Gen 7 5MT is even quicker. Voted one of the fastest cars under $20 by C&D.
I tried to find an 06 or 07 EX-L NAVI 5MT to trade in my 08 Coupe but there wasn't one to be found. :( I too much prefer the 7th gen design and dynamics to the 8th gen.

It nearly the same but I think the 7.5 is a tenth to a few tenths faster there.

Well, the 8th gen is bigger, and I don't think the HP went up that much, so that would explain it........
thomasbus337 06-17-2009, 05:56 PM I was wondering if this type of thing could happen! I have a 07 EX that I bought new in Aug 07 and in the back of my head I've been thinking about trading it in for a 09 Accord EX-L in late summer early fall when they are pushing them off to make room for the 2010's. I'm just affraid of making the switch and then regretting it later though. Right now kbb trade-in is a lot more than what I still owe, so I'd have a good down payment and with the 3.9% from AHF my payments would be the same if not less than what they are for the 07. The figures are nice, but I'd be starting out with payment # 1 again not to mention a blank canvas as far as accessories go, so I don't know, and now hearing owners of 8th gens, enjoying 7th gens better, it really gets me thinking.
DougNuts 06-18-2009, 06:16 AM I love my 7.5, especially the rear end styling. I'm actually selling my Civic to fund a few modifications to my car (SE sedan, K24, 5M, black interior, alabaster silver, like thomas' picture above). Hopefully Honda's flashpro comes out soon so I can add more power.
07AccordEx-L 06-18-2009, 09:20 AM don't u mean kpro or reflash? I doubt it's gonna happen. nonetheless there's still a way...

No, I don't. I mean Hondata's Flashpro, it's on their website.
evident 06-18-2009, 09:57 AM i really like the attention to detail in the center cubby. the coin cardholder and pen holders really won me!!!!
Aceman196 06-18-2009, 09:19 PM The 8th gen dash was just to ugly for me. It looked like I was going to fly it. I also didnt like the way the back of the car looked.
