I get asked to look things up all the time....I don't mind at all.....but PLEASE could you put your year/model in your signature????

I'm begging!! It would save you time since I have to ask to look anything up.

It also helps when you're asking for anyone's help or advice!!!

I still don't know why we don't make this a requirement. It does no harm that I can see, and it saves many people a ton of time.

Is there a way to enforce such a requirement? It's got my vote.

IMOL

It was the first thing I did when I registered :)

I agree, it saves a lot of time figuring out if someone else's experiences apply to your car or not.

. . . uhm, BTW, do you think maybe the 3 of us that have posted here should add whether we have the coupe or sedan ? :D

One neat thing is that when a signature is edited to include this stuff (or other updates) it changes all prior posts as well.

I'm so happy to see the support!! I wonder if car basic questions could be required when filling out the signature? So if edited at all, it would HAVE to include at least year & model.

Any other suggestions on how this can be "inforced"???

Maybe part of the "required" fields when registering.... :dunno:

MOST of us just do it 'cuz we're proud of our Accords.... I'm at a loss why some prefer not to....

I disagree. I think it should be mandatory for profiles not signatures. Some people have sigs turned off and some people just don't like to put a signature.

Maybe part of the "required" fields when registering

A few boards I'm on have it as a required field. I would think it could be done here too.

Now that I think about it, I think it is a required field in the profile - not the signature. But either way is fine by me.

SSMV6
08-17-2005, 06:52 AM
Should be required in the profile at least... There are too many times when I hear something "such as improper fitment of the TL rear sways" and had to disagree for 3-4 posts just to find out that it wasn't the same model accord later on (I4 vs V6). :blah:

Putting my list of cars in my signature is the first thing I did when I signed up!

EXLNavi
08-17-2005, 08:16 AM
What I don't like is that signatures add more things to the page. Makes for extra scrolling, which is a royal PITA when surfing on a handheld device. BUt I am glad I can turn them off, which makes it a bit more bearable while mobile.

But I do agree that you should at least have your car listed somewhere. Sig is fine for now, because it's instantly visible. However, I think that there should be a field for your type of Accord owned when you sign up.

princess
08-17-2005, 08:22 AM
I get sssoooo many PM's about questions.... in the signature would be easiest for me... then I don't have to go to the profiles & check.

I hadn't thought of the PDA type of thing..... um, I may be singing a different tune in HI!! :lmao:

Well, anyway.....for all newbies & overly private people......

If you have a question about your car... make sure we know the year & model...you'll get your answers faster!!!

EXLNavi
08-17-2005, 08:26 AM
There is nothing wrong with putting the type of car in your sig, I just think it should be suggested and not required. Your help is greatly appreciated, and making your job easier is more important than my pointless whining. :lmao:

When mobile I turn off sigs anyway, so it's not bothering me.

Ah shucks!

The funny thing about this whole forum or even the idea is that about 20 years ago I remember we talked about with computers how neat it would be to have a place that Honda owners could get info. Some diagnostic stuff, some DYI.... & low & behold, here we are!!! :D

Back then it would've been more limited, since ISIS didn't exsist. I would've been looking it all up in manuals....this is much easier!!

It's cool! You guys didn't even know that Wards made a dream come true for me!

Is it that hard to add to sig line?? :dunno:

If you can spend the time asking the ? you should be able to spend the time giving out the info...
I bet if you had to call someone and pay a long distance charge to answer your ? you would have all info needed to expedite the process(unless you do at work on the companies dime)!!! ( And I'm not pointing any fingers here ok EXLNavi.. :) )

The MDX forum is where we started out before the Pilot was released. We started gathering info there. Then the Pilot one opened up..... we found the one we wanted when they came out in June, bought in Aug. The next Summer we decided to go with Nav for me too. So the '02 Accord V6 exl was traded to the Accord I have now. No regrets....but in the search I stumbled on this forum & it's been my favorite since.

Glad to have another member!!

Photobucket is the easiest way to upload photos. You can attach them to the bottom of your messages, but you can only upload 800x600...so unless your photos are small, that's not going to work.

Well it looks like this can be used as an intro thread as well so listen up.

My name is Elliot, friends call me E so which ever you prefer. Some of you know by now, I got a 91 Accord that I play around in and a 94 Prelude as an other car. I'm from south Georgia, Im not bothering with the town at this time cause most people 10 miles from me have never heard of it. So if there's any Georgia members here gimme a holla if you like. I've only been here a couple days and I like this site so I'll prolly be here a while as long as you will have me. I'm a moderator on preludezone.com so I know how forums run and how to SEARCH. I'll have a pic or 2 up of my Accord for yall sometime soon but check out my car domain page for the Lude if you like. Anything else just PM me or something. :)

Hello everyone,
I am from malaysia but we are having the same Accord model as our US counterparts.
A few questions. What is the best bodykit for the Accord.Mugen or Modulo.
The speedbreaker here is quite high and I would want to fit a bodykit that will not hit those high humps or speed breakers.
The Accord here cost USD44,000 min.Does anyone has changed to a different absorbers and springs to make the car handles better and looks nicer.Mine is 2.4 litre model 2005.If someone has done it,how's the ride and handling after changing it?
What about sound absorbing material,I mean sound proofing the car. What are you gals suggestion on the best sound proofing material in the market?
Your help is greatly appreciated :D

BenjiBoy650
07-19-2006, 09:07 PM
I think the Modulo is not as low as the Mugen. But what part of Malaysia are you from? Last time I visit JB-Senai/KL in 2004 I didn't notice many of the speedbreakers.

I think if you change your absorber and spring, you will be miserable. Most of the time they make the ride very rough, and knowing the construction and roads in M'sia, it's not going to be fun.

For soundproofing, you should go to a shop and install some Dynamat, I don't know what is the local equivalent. But basically they just stick some heavy material onto the doors, inside the trunk and underneath the carpet (if you really want it quiet you have to do it right)...it might cost you a lot and I suggest you don't do it because then you will have to take apart most of the interior then you will have rattles.

Hey did they lower the price on City/Vios and Civic/Altis recently? Or maybe Accord and Camry got the price cut too? My relatives told me they chopped RM10K off the price of the lower end cars.

wolverine737
07-19-2006, 09:45 PM
Thank you so much BenjiBoy650,
They slash the price about rm10,000 which is a bit higher than USD2500.Not much when you have to facotr in the higher interest rates that you have to bear cost of the New Automotive Poilcy.
The other thing I am interested is the brakes. What are your suggestion if I wanna improve the brake response. The type of disc and pads recommended?
Thank you guys

BenjiBoy650
07-19-2006, 09:57 PM
You can start new threads for these topics if you want, they will get more views from people.

For brakes I think you are pretty limited to changing out the pads. I don't know of anybody that makes discs for the 2.4, only the 3.0 and even then they are very expensive. You should check the local speed shops and Malaysian boards, I think we get different brake pads and M'sian pads are probably designed better for the environment they are used in. For us, popular brands are like Hawk, EBC, a few others I forget now but I'm sure someone else will catch.

After reading this thread, I went to the user control panel, but could not find an entry in my profile for car info (I already had the car info in my signature). You got it, that's all we want is the car info in the sig.

It's not a requirement for registration because some register to ask questions before buying an Accord. It won't be much of a deterrent for spammers either considering that the Accord is a common car...it's not like we could make them provide specifics like you could for a Maserati or something (with their 23 different leathers, 16 different wood trims...etc)

Yes, I changed it to OEM. Bought a pair of used OEM headlight on Craiglist but only needed the driver side. If anyone looking for a passenger side 98-02 headlight assembly, hit me up so I can make you a deal.

I had to take the entire front bumper off which took me a while and help from a friend.

By the way, the used headlight came with dark bluish light bulbs. I am assuming this is the HID light bulb which gives you bright white light instead of orange. If this is correct, I'll switch to the HID light bulb.

Hi Guys,
I have 98 Accord. Thinking to change the spark plug, distributor wire, cap and rotor
and the air filter. When I look at the distributor cap, I only can see 2 screw holding
but I feel like there is 3rd on the left side underneath the cap. Could someone
can tell me how to remove the distributor cap?
I can only get around 20 miles mph. Is there somewhere I can look to see why
I am getting so low mileage. My other 98 accord could get about 25 mph.
Would the tune up would improve it.

TIA

Yes, there's a 3rd one....you get it from the underside. 8mm.

Anthonymui:

Most Honda distributors, to my knowledge and experience, have only two (2) to four (4) attachment screws, on the top side. However, with my not being familiar with every engine Honda ever made, there may be other fasteners on the underside of your particular distributor. You should be able to back out the screws with a Number Two Phillips-head screwdriver and/or about a 6-to-8MM socket. The cap tends to be an extremely-TIGHT fit. So, some wiggling may be necessary to pull it loose from the distributor. Be sure to GENTLY twist and wiggle all the (plug and coil) wires to remove them. Do NOT yank on any of the wires! It may likely damage/break off the (metal) end terminal. (I prefer to remove all the wires FIRST, then remove the cap.)

Inspect the underside of the cap for corrosion around the terminals. Inspect the end of the rotor button terminal for corrosion. If the terminals appear pitted...or generally nasty...I recommend replacing the distributor cap and/or rotor button.

These items are fairly simple to remove, and not terribly expensive to replace. (On my '86, a distributor cap cost about $15.00, and a rotor button costs about $4.00. Since I replaced them last Summer, I know what I'm talking about.) Bad spark PLUGS can certainly affect engine performance, throughout the entire operating range. It is also possible you MAY have one or more defective spark plug WIRES.

Does your car start and (generally) run okay? Does it idle okay? Does it misfire, under (acceleration) load?

However, with you reporting poor fuel economy, I suspect you have some other problem....as in a fuel system issue.

When is the last time the fuel FILTER was changed? You may need to have the fuel PUMP inspected...and replaced. There is a "sock-type" filter on the end of the fuel pump pickup that can become clogged with gasoline impurities, over time.

Anyway, hope I have pointed you in the right direction...and Good Luck, Sir!

Thanks princess and Robert's quick reply.

I brough this 98' Accord 4 cylinder automatic few months ago.
Don't know if the previous owner have done any regular maintence works.
I changed the oil and oil filter. Will follow Robert's adv and see if I can do
some of the works suggested.

princess - you said there are 3 screw, the one underneath the distributor,
Seems like I can't put my hand on it.There is no room - Do I have to remove
the 4 cable first?

Any advise would be very appreciated.

Thanks guys

I forget to reply that the car runs fine except poor fuel economy.

Anthonymui:

You MAY need a hand mirror to see the fasterner(s) on the underside of the distributor.

How many miles does your car have now? I am GUESSING 100,000+ on your odometer.

Can you communicate with your car's previous owner, to learn what all service/repair work THEY had done to it?

Let me also strongly suggest that you change the AIR FILTER. And please also change the TRANSMISSION FLUID, especially if you do not know if/when it was last changed.

Ditto for the TIMING BELT. If the timing belt breaks, especially with the car in motion, you will hear some very "expensive noises!" (As in, pistons smacking the valves!)

If YOU are not that knowledgable about/experienced with working on cars, please take your car to an ASE-certified mechanic. But most preferably, your Honda dealer.

Don't throw a ton of money under the hood, using the "Shotgun" approach. That is a waste of resources. A CORRECT analysis/diagnosis is what you do FIRST, to FIX the problem, save time, save effort, and save money. And also spare yourself a lot of HEADACHES!

Otherwise, you may end up incorrectly diagnosing the problem(s). Worse, you may end up damaging more stuff than you fix, in the case you do not know what you're doing and/or do not have the right tools for the job! I speak from the long voice of experience! In my youth, I have (often) broken several things...in the process of fixing one (1) thing!

I just bought a new 2009 honda accord EX-L with nav. I poked around this forum for cell phone/Honda HFL discussions but did not find any using search so please excuse if this is posted in wrong place. I tried to pair and use my Nokia E71 but no go. further research on honda accessory site showed it as one of many incompatible Nokia models. I am now looking at either a Blackberry 9000 or preferably a 9700 but am open to other posssibilities. Has anyone had luck using either of these phones on hfl and if so, what features were you able to use without problems? would prefer to just buy a phone that actually works but must have 3G/BT/Wifi. thanks for any responses.

update on HFL conundrum. tried my wife's razr v3 which showed compatible and it was. but after pairing and importing contacts phonebook, celluar phone icon unavailable on info screen! everything else worked (call/list etc) using voice commands but phonebook "not really imported" per tech on 888 #. so checking online does not tell you all you may want to know about compatibility. she also said "blackberrys can be quirky" with hfl which was a great reassurance pre purchase. i even added a contact through the hfl itself using voice prompts and the cell phonebook still did not show. i tried a 9000 bold and it linked up right away but did not get to test phonebook import function. will try 9000 and 9700 today or tomm'w, including import function, and report what happened. may save someone else a good deal of time. retirement affords me some time to spare thankfully. :lmao::lmao:

I'm glad to have found this Drive Accord Honda Forums. I've been stuck on some others but this one seems to be the best. My first Accord was an '89 LX, 4 cyl, man, 4 dr. well used before me and by me. This car got the ball rolling into Honda's court. Previously drove most of the big 4. Other Accords have been the '96, '03, '05, '07, and now '09. Each one is better than the last. Simply love the '09 EX-L and plan on driving it til the wheels fall off! Cheers to all participants here and many thanks for all the info.
