I know that you can have your car programmed to recognize the immobilizer chip in a new key.... but is it possible to buy a used key and have the chip programmed to the second vehicle?

i.e. does Honda assume that chip is tied to the original car and not allow it to be re-programmed to a different car?

I'm looking at buying a used key along with a flip key shell and just want to make sure that I can reuse the immobilizer chip.

yeah it can be programmed to the second car but once this is done, it won't work on the first car anymore. you'll need to take it to the honda dealer to program it though. can't do it from home sorry....

Also you will need to bring all your keys when you get it done.

Yup I understand that it can only be programmed to one car at a time... I just wanted to make sure it could be re-assigned from one car to another.
