Anyone ever had this problem?
It's only about 18 degrees (celcius) but my outside temp gauge (factory) is showing 49..the lowest I've seen it go is 38...

Could my sensor be gone?

it might be that your sensor fell off and its hitting the rad or another hot metal behind the bumper

Anyone have a pic of the sensor so I can try and find it and see if thats the case? Hope thats all it is and I don't have to buy a new one :(

Calibrating it may help. Search the forums for a TSB that Princess posted. You can calibratd it a few degrees at a time via the trip reset button.

If that doesn't help, it might be a hardware issue - malfunctioning or not mounted properly.

Thanks!
I checked the sensor itself looks fine and isn't hanging off or anything.
I will check out the TSB and see if that works..

No luck in finding the TSB, however I did figure out how to calibrate it through the manual, but it only lets you calibrate to within 3 degrees. Mine is like 20 degrees off :thumbsdow

There's really nothing to it, just it and a wire back. My guess is defective sensor.

After shutting the car off and the engine heat drifts out over the sensor it will read 10-20 F over actual, but that quickly corrects ittself once you move and some air comes across it.
