dpobster 06-18-2009, 07:22 AM Hello everybody. I have a 2003 Honda Accord Coupe...pearl white...My beauty!!!
What have happened is terrible, and I am not sure what to do.The door handle( passenger side ) doesnt work neither from outside and neither from inside...:( and for some reason the power window on the passenger side doesnt work either. And I cant pull the panel out of of it when the door is closed and neither can roll the window down (checked fuses and tried to roll it down from passenger or driver switch. neither one will roll it down, but drivers window works fine ) !!!!!!!!!
Please help!!!!!!!
wadhah 06-18-2009, 07:56 AM pop the door panel off and take a look inside. it might be jammed or the connectors might be loose
dpobster 06-18-2009, 07:57 AM the door will not open. so I cannot get the panel out. or I dont know how to get the pannel out with the door closed :(
jas_s20 06-18-2009, 09:34 AM you should be able to get SOME of the door panel off....try and pry enough off so you can at least get your hand in and try and manually open the door from the latch GL keep us posted.
hebrew_hammer 06-18-2009, 09:48 AM your door lock actuator is DONE DONE DONE. Try using your remote to open your windows, if that doesn't work you can try this and it will work if you do it right. take the screws behind the interior door handle and the armrest out, then pry the door panel UPWARDS to clear the rail that its on, you will most likely break a clip or two. But i doubt thats a big concern versus not being able to do anything with your door, and i doubt you want to hit up a dealer for that. Pry the door panel up and not towards you because you will break it if you pull towards you. When you have it a few millimeters up you will be able to pull on your cord that will unlatch the door.
dpobster 06-24-2009, 10:36 AM hm...tried all of the suggested and still cant get it out... :(((((((((((((( any other suggestions?
dpobster 06-25-2009, 07:31 AM Weird thing...that the window started to work on its own...weird, ha?any way to open the door from the gap that the window goes down?
hillstones 06-27-2009, 06:11 AM You can try to remove the passenger seat through the driver side, then you might have enough clearance to remove the door panel. If the handle doesn't work from the outside or the inside, the cable to the interior handle may be jammed or damaged, and the rod from the latch mechanism to the outer handle may be jammed or damaged. Of course the latch mechanism cannot be replaced with the door closed. But you should be able to open the door manually by pulling on the inside rod once you get the interior door panel off.
Sounds like someone tried to break into your car and really screwed things up.
Fredsvt 06-27-2009, 08:41 AM I think the two problems are unrelated.
The fact that you can't open either from inside or outside is a problem.. If the door lock will unlock (button pops up), but it's not opening, the latch has crapped out like in the older models.
Somehow you've got to get the panel off, or you're going to have to do the door drilling deal to get to the inside of the latch to release it, so you can put a new one in.

I just replaced my lock actuator, so I have had the latch mechanism out of the door. The door locking and unlocking "button" is separate from both handles. The outer door handle has a metal rod to the latch mechanism. The interior handle has a steel cable to the latch mechanism. The door lock "button" in the door panel has a rod into the latch mechanism.
What is the response feel on both handles? Is there tension on the outer handle and the interior handle? Do you hear the latch mechanism trying to open when you pull on either handle? Or is there no tension whatsoever when you pull on each handle?
Armystrong 07-03-2009, 11:54 AM More than likely the cable that connects to the door hand has broke. The cable has a green plastic "S" shape connected off the cable to the door handle. If that breaks you have to replace the whole cable. When you take the door panel off, you have to disconnect this from the handle and many times, the DIYer will forget and yank the panel and break the plastic piece connected to the door handle. If your lucky, it popped out of the retaining hole on the door handle.
Its called the inner handle cable. Page 20-10 in the service manual.

Something is damaged inside the door. Unfortunately since neither door handle work, he can't get the door open to remove the door panel to diagnose the problem. A strange catch-22. I suggested he remove the passenger seat in hopes of having the room necessary to pop the panel off the door.
