That's a short ram air intake. The filter sits in your hot engine bay, so the install is easy, but you won't gain much other than noise.

Go with AEM V2 if you want a non-cai. Or Injen. Both yield good numbers on f22/f23 motors. Headers and exhaust will too. all 3 pieces together will yield an additional 15-20hp/5-15tq. That motor is full of cheap parts. pulleys suspension

Who buys an intake for the sound??? You can get the sound for FREE by just removing the resonator...lol. You did know that right....?

Many people buy it for the sound. a CAI will only add about 10hp and 5ft lbs at the wheels.

no most buy for power and added mpg bro. 10hp isnt a small gain for 4cyl. 10 would be small gain on 300hp v6/v8. but whatever floats your boat.

If i could actually feel the 10hp maybe, but its so insignificant its almost not worth it, like u said remove the resonator and its done, but SRI also give ur engine bay a nice look. 10hp, not gonna start jumping TSXs on the line with it.

About a year ago a tuner magazine (I saved the article on my PC) bolted on mods to a 6thGen/2.3L and then put it on a dyno after each one. This is what they got out of an AEM CAI - "Peak horsepower increased 4.7 horsepower at the wheels." I agree that 10 horsepower is no small gain for an I4, but 4.7 peak horsepower would hardly register on the butt dyno.

First I installed an AEM CAI and noticed a small gain in power. Then I replaced the stock muffler with a Dynomax Superturbo muffler and WOW!...the combo of the two
things feel like triple the gain of the the CAI alone. I left the stock 1 3/4 inside diameter
exhaust pipe to keep exhaust gas speed high for better low end torque and left the stock resonator both for quieter sound and to not screw up the reflected exhaust pulse
scavenging effect. Slight low freq vibe at 2200-2400 rpm otherwise no louder than the
CAI . Muffler was $60 plus install and exhaust tip was $18 bolt on.

You gain a small amount of low end torque but over the range of the rpm, you'll end up losing torque.

Depending on where you live, sometimes it's not necessary to get a CAI, I live in MN and there's only 4 months (if lucky) where it'll be warm so a SRI was best fit plus I avoid any risk of water getting in.

What I'm going to undertake this summer is a 100% REAL CAI. The ones people buy gain nothing over 10hp at the crank. I'm going to make custom piping that routes the filter to the coldest air possible (and its definately not found in bumper).

Yes, I am referring to the front upper or lower grill. I may have to remove a few small panels to make everything fit, but once its all said and done, I can expect to see gains of AT LEAST 10hp. But I don't mean to make a claim. It's only an experiment.
