I don't have a clue..... we're not taking our car. We're BARTing home & if Anysia & Stevel want to not come back here for their rental car we'll find some public parking garage as close as we can.

There's probably public parking near the BART station & being a holiday might mean they'll be plenty of room!!

We'll be playing tourist so they can se the city.... I thought since we'll have people here from the other side of the universe, it would be fun to see the faces that go with the cars!! :D

Getting there is easy pie! But the traffic once you're there is nasty! That's why we plan to hoof it once we're there...that's what most do! Like many big cities, many people that live there don't even own cars! I can't imagine!! :paranoid:

If you park in SF, be careful! Most of the city is free parking, but a few areas such as Fisherman's Wharf are metered parking 7 days a week. Don't want to get a $35 ticket.

Born and raised in SF, I really don't frequent Fisherman's Wharf very much. Enjoy yourselves and go to Pier 39 and watch the sea lions...smells great!!! :lmao:

We've never been to this Rain Forrest... but we've been to the 2 WDW ones in FL & the one in DL's downtwon Disney! We like those!! :thmsup:

Scare you! Come on! You are on the pier 10 feet up and the sea lions are on a dock at least 20 feet away. Besides, they're lazy and don't move all that much. Just don't fall into the bay and get eaten by one of those 12 foot great whites...... :jumping:

We used to get pretty close to the ones that travel up the delta when we were out fishing. One used to always be on the same bouy every time. I can't remember what I named him... :dunno:

Yep, it was at the Rain Forrest Cafe near the piers in SF. It was in Sept & a weirdly sunny day!!! It couldn't have been a a more perfect day!! Anysia stuck her toes in the bay!! We went through a small aquarium there too. It had a section that you were surrounded by fish....

Just found out that I'm heading to the SF bay area the last week of February on business (work for HP). Flying (most likely) into San Jose, going to meetings in Santa Clara and Palo Alto.

How close is that to where you bay area DA folks are? Wonder if we could hook up at some point?

And, no, I won't be bringing my accord - they don't allow studded snow tires in some states en-route out west. :lmao:

Yep - and I may be flying into SFO which (I think) may be closer to where you live. Also, the one variable will be whether the wife and kid(s) may be tagging along for an impromptu vacation. :thumbsup: (That's a vacation week here in NH and since the wife's a teacher, she gets that week off as well as the kids).

Anyway, I'll know more in a couple of weeks, but I will have a car, so if I can work the logistics, I'd love to meet whomever could.

Miles wise, the airport closest is Oakland, that's the one we use. But I don't advise it. You'd want either SFO or the San Jose airport.

Depending on when you're out here...in Santa Clara is Great America... an amusement park, like 6 flags.... how old are the kids?

There's also Santa Cruz. It's smaller, but on the ocean...so you get 2 "sights"...an amusemsent park & a beach setting.... toes in the ocean!! :thmsup: I don't think they're open year round & I'm not sure when it happens.... You can probably find out online. Santa Cruz Boardwalk & Paramount's Great America would be the names.

Great America doesn't open til March or May I think. Too cold (I know...not applicable to East Coasters lol). I'm about 10 mins from SFO, but for you going to meetings in Santa Clara and Palo Alto, you'd rather fly through SJC. It's smaller but maybe cheaper and more convenient...although I had some college friends tell me they find the best deals through SFO.
