Ask them for the $77 for 1 year deal. If they don't oblige ask them to speak to the manager about it and if you don't get the deal you'll just let the sub end.

It works, I paid $77 and had them bill me. Don't give them a credit card unless you want your sub to auto renew at a much higher rate. If they jerk you around, just threaten to cancel and you'll get the $77 deal. Sirius/XM is bleeding really badly financially, and they won't lose a subscriber if they can help it.

When I first joined I agreed upon the $77 dollar deal. At that time I had to use my CC since that was the only option I had. They apparently still have the CC # in their system but I made sure that I would call them before my year was up. That was July 24th, 2008. I just called XM today and told them I would cancel my sub cuz I didn't want to pay the $149 1-year plan. They asked if I'd reconsider if the price was different. I told them I had it for $77 last year and if I could get it again for same price I'd keep it. So they just gave me the deal with no complaint. Hope this helps anyone who uses a CC. Just make sure you call them up before your yearly sub is up!

With XM on the verge of bankruptcy, they'll take whatever they can get.

XM just needs to apply for some TARP funds like everyone else.
