I'm new to Honda, just bought a used '03 accord coupe EX, private sale, and I'm having trouble getting my windshield wipers to turn 'OFF' - if I use the spray/wash cycle, mist or intermittent, once I turn the wipers to the OFF position they just start wiping in "high?"

Anyone ever encounter this or I'm being extremely dim? If I let the intermittent slow down and THEN turn off it sometimes works, or I stop and turn off the engine it will sometimes let me switch to OFF.

Is something short-circuiting or is this just one of those weird problems I'll end up having to take to the dealer? SO FRUSTRATED.

Did that car go back for the wiper motor recall?

I don't think so, I signed up on Honda's Owner Link with the VIN# and there were no recall notices (but I don't know how long they would stay posted/valid), think I should give that a shot (bought this from a previous owner).

Interesting. My mom's '03 sedan was called back last summer, and it got a new wiper motor.

you know, I heard that; however, I just bought the car a couple weeks back and I'm not sure how to find out if my car was affected by the 2008 recall (the previous owner = absolute space shot). If I call a local Honda dealer are they required to give me that info, and if so, does the recall has validity dates?

Any info would be much appreciated. The wipers work, but if it's an easy (and cheap/free) fix, I'd like to take care of it asap.
