: Aint this about a b*tch
starbai 07-20-2009, 07:42 PM I got the tein SS installed this evening, along with the ball joint front camber kit and the rear 3 peice camber kit as well as my TSX sway bar...
I didn't wanna push the car too hard till I got the alignment done so I can't comment on how well it handles, but it sure does ride like stock, and its pretty damn low.
The shitty part is on my way home got a flat tire.
A screw right on the corner of the side wall and tire patch. Probably not repairable.
I did purchase some kind of tire warranty/protection agreement from my dealer when i bought the car.
I dont know how to file a claim for it I believe I pay for it and they reimburse me... so thats my job tomorrow figuring it out and taking it in for an alignment.
Car looks sickk though. For right now I'm rollin on 3 Accord 18" wheels and one 17" S2000 Rear wheel/tire.. lol didn't feel like pulling out the spare so i just threw this on there to get me to the tire shop in the morning since it was just sitting in my garage.
Got 25mm spacers for the rear and 15mm spacers for the front, on order. Should be getting them on Thursday.
Can't wait! I'll post pics on Friday after the Spacers are on...
8thGenInspire 07-20-2009, 07:44 PM ooooo bust. So excited to see some pics after the tire fix.
peazs 07-20-2009, 07:51 PM good stuff. will be waiting for the pics
mystick6 07-20-2009, 07:53 PM Damn them screws...
CaMole 07-20-2009, 08:03 PM Damn all that wait and you get a flat? Thats some bad luck. But grats on the purchase. Can't wait to see some nice pictures. Pretty soon we are going to see many more slammed accords
itSs.bObO 07-20-2009, 09:05 PM lower than mine? lol hahah...i cant wait to see........
zexen 07-20-2009, 09:05 PM Damn, star. Congrats on the purchase!! :)
It's good to hear that the SS's ride like stock. Now I know what to change my stocks to, when I get the money saved up. Coilovers will probably be one of the only mods I'll do to the car :)
Friday is soo far awayyyy.
asaga1 07-21-2009, 03:01 AM take a pic of the car anyway.... it would be interesting to see it now
chaqui74 07-21-2009, 03:13 AM Come on you should know better than that ! Where are the pics !!!!!!!!! lol
andysinnh 07-21-2009, 03:27 AM Just a suggestion - if you can wait until you get the spacers, I'd put them on before you do the alignment. Especially on the front wheels, the geometry can get thrown off by the spacers as well as the suspension mods you made - so you'd be best off to do it once. Just my view... Sorry about the tire - typical "murphy's law" situation...

L's TLS 07-21-2009, 04:07 AM you call the dealer tell them u have tire warranty & they give you a brand new tire for free. You dont pay for it and reimburse. Its just like getting something done under warranty from your Honda warranty. the warranty company pays the dealership you go to.
Danielc409 07-21-2009, 06:15 AM I know for the wheels, they gave me a paper with contact information to call. Not sure if its the same thing with the tires as well.
starbai 07-21-2009, 07:08 AM lower than mine? lol hahah...i cant wait to see........
Its not lower than yours right now, but I'm pretty sure it will be after I put the spacers on, I wanna see what kinda room I've got to work with as I dont plan on rolling the fenders just yet...
I know for the wheels, they gave me a paper with contact information to call. Not sure if its the same thing with the tires as well.
yea I found my paperwork once I got to the office this morning. Turns out the tire shop has to call and they start the claim, its still wishy washy on whether or not I pay first and get reimbursed or if the shop gets paid directly. The tire care company said that its up to the shop if they're willing to wait for check in the mail. I took it to tires plus as they have the lifetime warranty on the alignment after the one time cost of $140.
So I figured I'd let them do my tire as well... they have always done a realll good job of aligning my other lowered cars plus i know the guy. Throw him a few extra bucks on the side and he always hooks me up.
Tip for you guys with the front camber kits, make sure you tell your alignment guy that you have them beacuse I've been told that not all alignment shops are willing to work with the ball joint camber kit.

Probably would have been the case if I went to the dealer for the tire. But I was kind of reluctant beacuse the car was just lowered yesterday and the alignment is all kinds of crazy the rear wheels are damn near diagonal so I didn't want to deal with answering questions to the dealer although a nail in the tire had nothing to do with lowering it. Its alright, I dont mind waiting to be reimbursed so long as the check actually comes. I'll be pissed if I paid $250 out of pocket for a new tire and the check never comes.

I thought about this but the alignment is so bad right now that I just didn't want to drive the car around with it like that. I got the lifetime warranty on it, and I know the guy that does it for me so I'll just bring it back next week again. I had to take it in to get the tire replaced anyway so I figured may as well get it done. Plus I'm leaving for a small road trip from fort laudy to orlando on friday and I'm not sure I'll have the time to take it in on friday before the trip, but I do plan on putting the spacers in on Thursday night. I love the way the car looks stock but I can't for the life of me figure out why honda made them so damn skinny... or with the offsets so high. Its so much more apparent how far into the wheel wells they actually are since its lowered now.
Come on you should know better than that ! Where are the pics !!!!!!!!! lol
LoL alright alright I'll post some up tonight. I got the car back late last night it was already dark, and I spent whatever time I had changing the damn flat before it got dark. I rolled to the shop this morning on 3 Accord 18's and 1 S2000 Rear 17" lol and then to the office, car is so damn dirty too since its been raining like every day and the car is black.
We went for months with a drought here in south florida and it seemed that just as I bought my black Daily Driver it starts to rain daily down here... grr...
take a pic of the car anyway.... it would be interesting to see it now
Yeap definitly wanted to post some before and after of the spacers anyway so may as well take some tonight.
Friday is soo far awayyyy.
I planned on going lower when I had the car up to put the spacers on so the drop that will be in the pics tonight wont be the final setting anyways.... But you guys wil have some pics tonight.
Damn, star. Congrats on the purchase!! :)

You will NOT regret it. This isn't hating on the Megans or other brands out there, but what I can tell you is that the Tein SS's are f'ing amazing. I am literally blown away by how well they ride given how low I already am... The true test will be when I go just a litttle lower...
Right now the tops of my tires are tucked evvverr sooo slightly.

Next up! Spacers, and Magnaflow Exhaust!

Good point,
peazs 07-21-2009, 08:39 AM is it pretty easy to change the stiffness settings for front and rear any time u want or do u have to take off everything again?
starbai 07-21-2009, 09:54 AM Its a little dial that you turn on top of each corner... its pretty much as simple as it gets however I haven't determined whether or not you need to have the car raised to do it or if its okay to do it while the car is on the ground. You definitely don't have to take anything apart or take the wheels off to do it.
I would assume its okay to do it while its on the ground because the EDFC (if I had one) does it while the car is on the ground.
I'm probably going to make mine stiffer than what it is right now. I believe the Installer did 12 clicks up front and 16 in the rear. Feels kinda TOO oem for my liking. I like a little spine crushing.
mystick6 07-21-2009, 09:56 AM Is it easy to adjust the rears are do you have to take your interior apart to adjust?
Danielc409 07-21-2009, 10:05 AM My megans are finally on the way. Emailed Brian this morning, replied back with the tracking number, should be here on Friday yay!
I'm interested to see how these work myself even though they are megans.
starbai 07-21-2009, 10:27 AM Is it easy to adjust the rears are do you have to take your interior apart to adjust?
they actually have little thing that you can remove on the back seat so that you can get your hand into the area that you can adjust the rears.... more by feel than by sight.... still ****s but better than having to rip everything apart.
the front is right of course under the hood and is easy.
for some of you guys who dont understand, just to clarify this is to adjust the dampening... not the height.

v-6 nolo 07-22-2009, 08:21 AM looks hot man, def going to need those spacers though. This is going to be my next mod for sure.
starbai 07-22-2009, 08:22 AM definitly going lower once i put the spacers on.
Laker Guy 07-22-2009, 08:26 AM looks good...didn't think lowering it without rims would look good but once spacers are in its guna be hot
09^CBP^6MT 07-22-2009, 08:39 AM Looks the same as my HFP drop. How much for the spacers if you don't mind me asking? How much lower can you go once the spacers are on? WASH THAT PIG!
xxDaJackalxx 07-22-2009, 08:42 AM Star, once you order those spacers, can you send me the exact link and specs? I am just going to follow suit. (You can do all the ground work for me, and I'll just click "buy".) Thanks!! :)
09^CBP^6MT 07-22-2009, 08:48 AM Charge his ass for R&D!
xxDaJackalxx 07-22-2009, 08:50 AM Haha! I think Star and I have traded info enough times for him to extend this one free of charge. I know he's followed a couple of my DIYs, even if he didn't make the jump. We're all friends, right? :naughty:

mattchatwin 07-22-2009, 02:12 PM definitly going lower once i put the spacers on.
Which brand are you going with? I have H&R and at 10mm it's a bit shaky.
i recently blew my rear left tire, sidewall just popped =/ all of a sudden i hear a big thump! and then TPMS comes on about 1 min later. and then i go and get the spare rofl. was it your rear left? ima laugh if it was. but that ****s to hear! >.< Get it fixed asap!

How much longer you going to be on stocks, broham?
starbai 07-24-2009, 08:01 AM well guys the spacers are on.
I think it looks pretty good.... I got the SLIGHTEST shimmy coming from the front but I think its beacuse I didn't have a long socket to put on my torque wrench to tighten them down exactly to specs. I kinda just averaged them.
I'm going to get a long socket and fix them next weekend. I just got these on and will be doing a road trip up to orlando so I'm likely going to get it up to 80mph ++ to really comment on the shimmy better.
I think they look great! The front is perfect in my opnion but the back could have used probably another 5mm.... unfortunately I dont think they make 30mm spacers.
Again the setup here are Ichiba Type 2, 15mm spacers up front and 25mm spacers in the rear.
believe it or not, this the lowest setting that the Teins go to. Honestly doesn't feel low enough for me... its just not a slammed look at all... bobo's ksports definitly look lower.
But I figure with the Half HFP kit/ Half ron Jon Kit and the 20s down the line it'll look pretty damn good.
Lemmie know what you guys think!

How much longer you going to be on stocks, broham?
probably for quite a while longer. I dont want to buy a cheap set of wheels. If they're not the Works I want, I dont want to buy them. And I just have a bunch of debt and other things I want to pay off first right now. So I can't really justify dropping $2500-$3000 wheels right now.
The spacers were my temporary solution to make me happy for a while. I just couldnt' stand how far in the wheels looked, and now I think this definitely did the trick, should pacify me for hopefully at least a year.
Rather take care of my stereo needs, and the aforementioned hfp/ronjon kit.
Magnaflow exhaust is on its way on a truck right now and that will probably be it until the christmas season.
mystick6 07-24-2009, 08:20 AM Star hit up Bobby for the Magnaflow. Anyway im surprised that is the lowest setting. With the 20's it should look nice. Makes me start to think about going with Megans....

yea honestly I was hoping to go a little lower but in reality i think i'm all talk.... for a daily driver i dont think I'd really want it any lower than this setting.
If I had to do it all over again though I'd really consider the megans especially considering the cost difference. Its just that noNewz kinda scared me off...
Since then his problem is fixed and theres no issues. so in hind sight I would have really considered it harder.
mystick6 07-24-2009, 08:51 AM Hey at least you got braggin rights. Your on TEINS byatches.... Get the EDFC and your stuntin.
CnixZ06 07-24-2009, 10:14 AM Do you have any pictures from the side?
staro0989 07-24-2009, 11:17 AM looks really nice!
bruceleroy 07-24-2009, 11:25 AM not even slammed common peeps
HondaCoupe 07-24-2009, 12:31 PM dude its a perfect drop.. not sure why people want it lower.. any lower it starts to look ghetto.. that is a nice classy drop .. looks like a stock bimmer height.. love it! i had TEINs SS on my old car and loved it.. Ride was still a bit stiffer than stock but overall great
Danielc409 07-24-2009, 06:18 PM I got my megans in today, but probably still need to order 3 arm kit. And i need to see what the status is on my wheels.
itSs.bObO 07-24-2009, 09:16 PM http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3418/3754370424_6a2ae01fca_o.jpg
starbai 07-24-2009, 10:54 PM so, just made it to orlando....
Have to say i'm really impressed with the ride and the spacers. There is the SLIGHTEST annoyance in the steering wheel that I really think I'll be able to fix with the correct torque to all the nuts.
As far as the ride of the car at the lowest setting i think its perfect. I dont think I would have wanted to go any lower than what its currently at given its already just a little tucked and I'll be doing 20's in my future along with the HFP/ron jon kit... any lower and I feel like i'd have to be too cautious for this thing to really function as a daily driver.
Anyway just beacuse I figured you guys would like to see some, here are a few more pics:

peazs 07-25-2009, 01:37 AM looking good. if that's the lowest setting, how many inches were dropped and can u fit any fingers in the gap if there's one?
Danielc409 07-25-2009, 06:07 AM By lowest setting I think he means damper?
Hey star a question or two.
Is it best to go all the way up or down, then start adjusting off that? Like bring it all the way up, then do equal amount of turns / clicks on each side?
And stiffness that can be done when weight is loaded right?
peazs 07-25-2009, 11:47 PM By lowest setting I think he means damper?

From this, it sounds like he's talking about the height:

CnixZ06 08-07-2009, 08:24 AM did you ever fix the shimmy?
starbai 08-07-2009, 08:38 AM No, I haven't attempted. I need a 17mm extended socket to fit onto my torque wrench. I'm pretty sure thats all I'll need to take care of it.
I need that and a few hours.
I got baddd vibrations on my prelude, and what I wanted to do was use these to trouble shoot my prelude. so baiscally i need a few hours to do it.
Honestly its so slight its not really a big deal to me right now. I'll get to it eventually lol.
mattchatwin 08-07-2009, 12:28 PM Starbai, let me know how the fix goes as I have 10mm spacers up front and the shimmy is the same as you describe it. Have had better luck hand tightening the bolts but it's nto where I want it to be yet.
starbai 08-07-2009, 01:14 PM As far as i understand it, overtightening it can be the problem in and of itself... the key supposedly is to torque to exact specs... 80 ft/lbs.... for both the spacers and the wheels.
We'll see how it works.
