Hi to everyone,

I have been a member on here for awhile now but so far this is my first post. I drive a 2005 Accord Sedan 4cyl. Long story short is, in the year and a half that I have owned it, I have been hit twice by negligent drivers. The first was a T-bone accident, and was then rear ended just two weeks ago. All in all, the car has received nearly 11k in repairs in less than 12 months. Both times the same body shop has done the repairs, and have done a great job. My problem is that neither accident was enough to total the car, but now I have a car with only 50k on the odometer, that has been nearly destroyed twice. I have received two diminished-value settlements to get me closer to what it is actually worth, but I am still slightly upside-down on it. My dilemma is this: I like the car (it is my third accord), it has no problems mechanically or cosmetically, but I know I will get killed on a trade-in. However, I don't think I want this car anymore now that it has taken this much damage in the past year. I would appreciate any insight into what I should do with my Accord. (If I were to trade, I would most likely get another 7th gen accord used). Thank you in advance to anyone who can give me some friendly advice.

Kelly Blue Book for a private sale estimate and then leave it outside in a parking lot near a 7-11 with a for sale sign on it. I'm not kidding either, my dad sold two cars like that in 5 years at the same place. A lot of people come and go at those types of places, and more often than not, they are people who buy used cars instead of new ones. We sold one car in 6 days the other in 2, dead serious.

Private sale will get you the most value on getting rid of your ride. My $0.02

^^^ Thats a great idea above. High volume of people that don't mind paying extra for convenience.

In your case though I would trade it in. That way your not liable for any probs down the road. The dealer can always wholesale it then they won't be liable either and it will end up at a used car lot.

Then you can buy a certified 7th gen. Who knows maybe the accidents won't show up on the Carfax.

Do you still have to disclose if a car was in an accident if it does not show up on the carfax or has a clean title?

thanks for the replies,

As far as I know, the accidents will both show up on the carfax and Autocheck bc they were reported through insurance and there were police reports for both. As far as trading it in, I have to disclose if there was any damage above 25% of the value of the vehicle, which kills the trade value. I dont know what the law is if I just sell it myself.

you dont have to disclose nothing. most cars get traded in with major problems and dealers get hosed on them. its the dealers fault for not catching it. just roll in and say i wanna trade it in...how much will you give me. and i bet they wont even realize its been wrecked.
