so I just bought a new silver 2009 Accord LX-P for a reasonably good price. After driving it for about 300 miles i casually looked at the manufactures date, it was 12/08!! Have I been duped? is there a way for me to get some money back since this car has been sitting on the lot for nearly 7 months?! It had 25 miles on it when I bought the car.

Have any of you bought an accord that was sitting for seven months? Isnt it really bad for the engine? Im getting worried that the performance/ longevity of the car has been compromised because its been parked at a dock for 7 months.. Im in the northeast so all the snow would have piled on top my car before i bought it... I never would have bought my particular VIN if I had known it was so "old" :thumbsdow

help..

i wouldnt worry about it at all, does your vin start with a J? it could have been waiting in japan to be shipped in on big trip and waited in the states to be distributed. and there are a few people on here that just bought their 09 coupe which had the oct 08 manufacture date on it.

OP,

No need to worry, your warranty starts the day you picked your car.

Besides, the fact it's been sitting there for 7 months is why you got a good price, the dealer wants to MOVE THAT CAR!

FRANKIE SAYS RELAX

Seriously though, my car is an 09 and was made in 08/08 ... 10k mi on the clock, its perfect. Drive with the same oil until you get some mileage on it (5K mi) and then get an oil change. Just make sure that the oil doesn't sit there for longer than a year. You have 5 months.

Where'd you check the manufacture date?

Where'd you check the manufacture date?

Should be on the driver door jamb.

I would take it back! :lmao: It probably takes a couple days from plant to dealer.

I believe that new models come start coming out in October or November. So if you purchased your car say in March of 2009 & your car was manfactured in Nov. or Oct of 2008 you've got a 2009 model.

my 2007 Montego, which I bought as a leftover in Feb 2008, was manfuacturered in June 2006. Had 140 miles on the odometer when I bought it. Have had the car for 18 months now and it's perfect in every way. I might be tempted to change the oil sooner vs later, especially if it was started and stopped a few times during that period of time. But overall, I wouldn't worry about it at all....

My M3 was almost a year old when I picked it up, and hasn't fallen apart... yet :lmao:. Well, month and a half was spent in transit from Germany. Nothing to worry about. Good day.

My Accord sat on the dealer's lot for 5 months. It only had 26 miles on it when I bought it. The bright side to this is that dealers are having to deeply discount these cars to sell them. $25,200 + TTL!

Somewhat related - yesterday my boss showed me the link for a NEW 2007 Dodge truck about 50 miles from here. Sticker was $37K and the dealer has it listed at $25K. He's thinking about making them a crazy offer on it.

I bought mine in Aug of last year, and it had been at the dealers lot since Feb. No problems at all, drives great and handles well. I wouldn't worry too much about it, but as others said, the longer it sits at the dealer, the harder they work to move the car and thus reduce the price.

I intentionally bought a car that had been on the lot for many months. I waited till 2009 to buy a new 2008 model, the last one on the lot. Not a Honda but couldn't pass up the deal. Invoice minus $1000 and full book for my trade. I made them an offer for less than that amount and they took it. This was for a V-6 RAV4 Limited. The longer it sits the lower the price. Oh, and it had 33 miles on it.
