Hey all,
So my car sat for 3 or 4 days and when i started it up, i got some tell-tale blue smoke out the tailpipes...:thumbsdow My suspicions are that the valve stem seals are gone (had this happen on my old tercel and corolla-gts)... Anyone had this problem at 60K miles? Did the dealer cover it under the power-train warranty?
Thanks!

What kind of oil are you using and how often are you changing it? Since its happened on your other cars it maybe operator error. I've never had any probs like that on any of my cars..knock on wood.

I guess i should qualify this...
Tercel - changed the seals at 320 K (they were all shot)
Corolla changed the seals at 196K...(one was leaking...)
Oil is changed when the oil change light comes on... Dealer usually

I'm assuming this is on your 05. On US models the MM system didn't arrive till 06+. Previously there was a maintenace required light that didn't come on till 7500 miles(not km). There is a separate oil light that comes when theres a significant oil problem.
At least on your other cars the prob didn't show up till there were lots of miles on them.

umm, oil light? That's not a maintenance indicator, that means your car is running and has been running for quite a while with insufficient oil. That light comes on really really really late when you've lost a significant amount of oil. How many times have you changed your oil in the last 60K?

Dunno, I'm not the original owner... I just had the oil changed 1000km ago... So there's no maintenance minder on my 05?

As far as I know, no. What does this oil light look like? Is it a yellow spanner like thing, or a red oil can? The only thing in the 05 I know of is a maintenance required light that is strictly mileage based.

I thought that was a low oil pressure light ?

Yes, the maint required light... that is what i was going by.. when i purchased the car, the oil looked clean. Even when i took it in at the time the maint req'd light came on, the oil was still good and clean...

Sorry I'm confused now. Is your car losing oil (dipstick measurement)? What weight oil have you been using?
Since you actually have winter tires in your sig (plus being in canada) that suggests that you drive in subfreezing temps a considerable priod of the year, and deiced roads too. That would technically put you under the severe consitions category according to your manual. Under those conditions I would change my oil every 5K miles rather than 10K miles (ala maintenance light).
