View Full Version : ronaldbassi-pics of my Accord
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 01:53 PM --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Guys,
Got the car back today and I wanted fulfill some request for pics. The doors still need to be adjusted after it settles a bit but everything is great. A lot of you thought that it was a bad idea to switch the doors. I have to admit that it's a pain in the ass doors. I figure I'll switch everything out to factory in a year or two once I get the car painted. I have always thought the lambo doors are so nice to look at but I guess that comes with a trade off.
Luckily, even with all of the cutting and welding all of the factory hinge holes are still there.
I couldn't upload files here directly due to the number of pics and he size so I included the link to Photobucket.

Kayzle 08-03-2009, 01:56 PM Jeeze how much money you spent on that thing
Kiribati 08-03-2009, 01:57 PM http://mob801.photobucket.com/albums/yy296/ronaldbassi/014.jpg
Is the car on a slant or is the passenger door more open than the driver's?
dominicstl 08-03-2009, 01:58 PM It doesn't look too bad, but you're gonna pay money to have them change the doors back to factory in a couple of years when you just paid a ton of money to have the lambo doors put on?
The car is pretty clean overall, I just don't know if the side vents (I read they were put on because of the hinges or something) or the Lambo doors are grabbing me :dunno: Pretty nice job on the carbon fiber accents though, I like em.
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 01:58 PM Ummm. I'm not quite sure. I guess a little over 8 grand for parts, accessories, and install charges for everything.

Holy crap lol
bruceleroy 08-03-2009, 01:59 PM cant really see your rotors any better shots
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 02:00 PM Yeah. The road slants to the left quite a bit.

Interesting, that's for sure. Very carbon-fibery! :)
RTexasF 08-03-2009, 02:04 PM Overall I think it has a very clean and tasteful look. What someone else would or wouldn't have done means nothing. You paid for it and you like it, that's all that matters.
rekles 08-03-2009, 02:13 PM some better photos would mean a world of difference.
jkcheng122 08-03-2009, 02:15 PM is the $8k total in mods or the doors alone? I remember you said doors ran you about $2k or $3k.
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 02:16 PM I took a quick pic before I go of the rotors. They are OEM size and much better performance than factory. No shuddering at high speed to complete stop. Pictures are both front and rear. I just can't tell which one is which. I didn't op for the zinc coated ones since they take a full 2-3 weeks on top of normal processing. Besides, the extra 35 for each rotor to get them coated is not worth it for me.
I was only able to attach one pic because the other pic keeps on failing to upload.
cant really see your rotors any better shots
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 02:18 PM Doors ran me almost $2000. Everything else (Hids, Wheels and Tires, Brakes, Body Kit + paint job, etc.) on the car is about $6000. I try not to think about it. Less painful that way.

It pains us to think about it too and it's not even our money. Nicely done though, car looks very nice.
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 02:36 PM Thank you to all who like and thanks to all who don't like especially the doors. I like the way they look but they do come with a big trade off. Anyway, after I get tired of them I will switch back to factory, Luckily it will only cost $600 to put it the way it was before since I still have the holes and hinges. I'll time it when the black paint starts looking nasty. I will try to take better pics for all who wants the close up of the side skirts and lip. My camera is not cutting it with the close ups.

Shoulda spent the $2k for doors on a SLR camera! :)
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 02:43 PM You're right. It would have been money well spent.

eckseleven 08-03-2009, 03:07 PM What exactly was done to the front grills? I see their in your sig, just looking for more info. I think they look really good especially the top one. All the aftermarket ones available just look too "empty". Since yours retains the stock trim piece it doesn't leave the front looking like there is a gaping whole there.
Signal9 08-03-2009, 03:15 PM You had the cash, you did it. congrats. You are in a small circle of Honda Coupe 8th Gen that have the lambo doors. Now what you might want to do, is shave the door handles and install door pop actuaters in it.
:D
coupe_nasty 08-03-2009, 03:26 PM how hard is it to change the e-brake? Did u just get a universal one or does it have to be made for our car?
Mase764 08-03-2009, 03:57 PM looooks sick!!
great job on it!
xxDaJackalxx 08-03-2009, 04:11 PM RB - Congrats buddy, it's finally done! Hit me up sometime when you want to meet in person and I can maybe snap some more/better pix. They won't be SRL but they may be a little more illustrative of the beauty that is your car.
I have to see these lambo doors in person. The car looks sick man, I like it. I think a little too much CF for the center console, I would have probably just done the pedals, ebrake and shifter and stopped there. Just my opinion. Congrats again! Enjoy.
JKL
arazaka1 08-03-2009, 04:31 PM By all means the car looks good. If my car looked like that in Chicago, I would definitely need to rent a garage!! I'm paranoid with just some aftermarket wheels on... Again the car looks Bad@ass and enjoy....
kpulse 08-03-2009, 04:33 PM I usually don't like lambo doors but they look pretty fly on your car. How did you tint your tail lights cause thats about the percentage im lookin for.
GTFan712 08-03-2009, 04:36 PM Props for the originality, but that's way too much money, and way too much CF.

are the doors assisted? cuz I know the ladies don't like liftin up lambo doors
Magiconthetire 08-03-2009, 04:54 PM WELL DAMN!
Gosha 08-03-2009, 05:06 PM FFS STOP saying too much money spent. It is not your car, everyone has their own thing and how they want to handle things. If you think this a lot on modded parts, then you havent owned a single car that you actually modified in the past, and probably never will...8k is nothing when you add it all up.
Looks good man, i like everything about it, some things i wouldnt do but you are doing your own thing. Some bigger, clearer pictures would be nice! Keep it up
A&Fbro28 08-03-2009, 05:39 PM Hmmm i dont know what to say so i'll just not comment at all :x...
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 05:47 PM The upper grill on the Accord I replaced. They took off the factory grill and installed some aftermarket upper and lower grill that they powdercoated black for me. I haven't put on the emblem yet but I will do that this Wednesday when they clean up the hammer marks inside the fender and tweak the doors.

AznX TL 08-03-2009, 05:50 PM i like the hood, but it looks like you need to slide it down a bit since i can see your bumper tabs on top. the interior is hot minus the steering wheel :D
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 05:51 PM The e-brake install is a pain in the ass with the pitstop ebrake from Momo. Basically the ebrake is to long and it doesn't sit all the way down on the ebrake assembly. I found this out the hard way when my friends cut out the rubber/leather OEM wrap on the handle. They actually had to to cut the Momo handle down a bit and use an aftermarket leather boot. If you do this mod, make sure you don't cut the OEM wrap on the handle assembly all the way. Also make sure that you kee the factory boot that conver the hole on the center console since the boot has to either go over that or tucked inside.
how hard is it to change the e-brake? Did u just get a universal one or does it have to be made for our car?
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 05:58 PM JUnfortunately the Carbon Creations hood which they say is "OEM" is all like that. That's as far as it will go down to the front bumper. It looked much worse when it was installed onto the factory hood struts. The struts had to be removed, a manual hood lift thingy of a jigg had to be fabricated inside to keep the hood up when working on the engine. I am not to sure if the VIS hood is better but VIS has really bad customer service. You will be waiting forever for your hood with no ETA on arrival. That's why I went with Carbon Creations. So far no bubbling and the clear coat is holding up well. Only a little less than 3/4 of the hood is really exposed to the sun and the rest covered by clear bra. I just wax it every week to keep it somewhat protected from the sun. Thank you for liking it. Hopefully it's not to riced out in your opinion.
i like the hood, but it looks like you need to slide it down a bit since i can see your bumper tabs on top. the interior is hot minus the steering wheel :D
AznX TL 08-03-2009, 06:02 PM vis isnt any better, my friend had one on his 350z and it didnt even shut because the latch was too short.
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 06:15 PM My friends shop tinted it for me when I had the clear bra put on. The tint is the same thickness as the clear bra but 35% black I believe. I had cops looking at my car at the body shop (Apparently arresting a worker there for being an illegal in the country) and they said said that I'm good to go since you can still see the brake light at 500 feet away. Only cost me $70 to do the tail lights.

blkcpe 08-03-2009, 06:20 PM is a pain to see another Honda with lambo doors but hey is ur car, i woulda spent that 2k-3k on some nice coilovers to get sum dump going or invest in some custom engine mods, besides the lambos everything else looks ok.
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 06:20 PM Hi Jackal,
I was actually trying to call you Saturday night but you didn't answer. Let me know so we can hook up on Sunday. Hopefully the doors and stuff will have settled and adjusted by then. I will also have them check the hood since it might have shifted up when fabricating the doors. Let me know if Sunday will be good. I am hoping that the guy installing the RV6 jpipe kit will be available this Saturday to install. Thanks for liking the car!

ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 06:22 PM Coils will not be good for my area. Every neighborhood I go to have humps that's 6 inches high. With the front lip on it made the car sit a good inch and a half. I will just be to tempted to slam and watch the front lip get ripped off.

YRMed 08-03-2009, 06:24 PM Ron, its beautiful. Quick question: Do you sleep on carbon fiber sheets?
ronaldbassi 08-03-2009, 06:32 PM Hahaha. I wouldn't want sheets but if they made a mattress cover out of carbon fiber I probably would have picked one up. I had to go with one universal theme. I didn't want to go with aluminum, wood, etc. Since the whole car is black, I wanted to do something in black and carbon fiber was very appealing. With the carbon hood on I wanted the interior to match.

Aiden 08-03-2009, 09:11 PM I love this car. Very nice Interior and Exterior Job.

But aren't springs only a temporary solution and in the longer term can do damage to your suspension? There was also discussion on whether the 22mm sway bar will cause problems long term as well.

Gosha 08-03-2009, 09:22 PM Hey can you please chime in on the grilles. I want to do the same exact thing, both top and bottom. Thanks
SteezusChrist 08-03-2009, 10:40 PM hey ron i was wondering how you got an UR pully for your accord? i looked on the site and they didnt have any listed for our accords. are you running underdrive or is it just lightweight. also, when did the rv6p j pipe come out?
Mochimellow 08-03-2009, 10:49 PM Holy shizza! RJ has a body kit that came out for our coupes! You're the first that I saw with the kit. I am very surprised by this. I think I'm a little late to know this or no?

Mochimellow 08-03-2009, 10:54 PM Oh god. Jizzed in my pants.
http://www.ronjonsportdesign.com/ronjonimages/large/8g-accord-kit/78.jpg
ronaldbassi 08-04-2009, 04:06 AM I haven't felt any problems with the 22mm bar. As long as you change the bushings you're good to go. I had progress 22mm rear bar on my 05 Accord and an Eibach front as well. I drove that car for a little over 3 years and no issues whatsoever.
But aren't springs only a temporary solution and in the longer term can do damage to your suspension? There was also discussion on whether the 22mm sway bar will cause problems long term as well.
ronaldbassi 08-04-2009, 04:10 AM I believe they've been out for about 6 months. I like the kit a lot with the exception of the rear spats ( I like the HFP rear better). Unfortunately, Ron Jon will not sell you the side skirts even when they offer the front lip as a single purchase. I guess it's their way to sell the whole kit at their price. Cost of the kit was $1040 plus an extra $150 shipping to Virginia (They ship from New York).

ronaldbassi 08-04-2009, 04:13 AM Yes. I have the UR pulley for my car. You will need to order directly from Unorthodox racing and they do have it for the 3.5 Liter V6. It might be out of stock if they took it off the site. I would give them a call. I am not to sure about the 4 cylinder. You will need to buy the Gates belt. The cheapest place to buy it is from Amazon. I got mine from them for $24.99. Everywhere else it's like 40 bucks. I got the pulley for a little over $200. Install cost me $120.00. I would not attempt to do this so get a shop to do it so if they mess something up it's on their tab.

Throwdown 08-04-2009, 04:32 AM Nice man... always love to see someone push the mods a bit further and differently than what we've already seen..
And I agree with what was said earlier... in terms of modded rides that most of us druel over 8k is nothing. It's just if you can afford it and make that choice then lucky youu.
uhohkaitlina 08-04-2009, 05:21 AM loveee itt.
CivicFreak03 08-04-2009, 05:30 AM Looks good but would look even cleaner w/o the lambos I have just never been a fan of lambo doors on a non lambo...
Plus if ur gonna go lambos make sure u do it big n go w/ a 90 degree kit....
ronaldbassi 08-04-2009, 07:28 AM I got it directly from Unorthodox Racing. It's for the 3.5 Liter V6. It is an undercrank pulley. I got a pic of it somewhere on my camera. Call them up which I did and ask for PART # 020611402. They will confirm everything that it's for the 3.5 Liter V6 Accord 2008-2010 model. You will also need to buy a smaller belt. UR recommends Gates Belt K060820. Get the belt from Amazon. It only cost me $24.99 compared to over $40.00 at Gates belt retailers. Install cost me $120.00 I believe and I highly recommend you get a shop to do the istall just in case something gets messed up. That way the repair and car rental will be on their tab.
hey ron i was wondering how you got an UR pully for your accord? i looked on the site and they didnt have any listed for our accords. are you running underdrive or is it just lightweight. also, when did the rv6p j pipe come out?
rekles 08-04-2009, 07:28 AM So when you get a real good photo shoot going, close the doors in some of the pics and post them up, I have a feeling that the car will really show it's potential that way.
Looks so slippery with all that glossy black!
ronaldbassi 08-04-2009, 07:30 AM The Autoloc kit on the car is 130 degrees. I have it at about 75 for a reason. Number one being there is nowhere you can grab on to close the door even at 90. Secondly you will not clear the front fenders at over 75 due to our front fenders bulding out a bit. At this angle I can still grab on to the door handles with no problem.
Looks good but would look even cleaner w/o the lambos I have just never been a fan of lambo doors on a non lambo...
Plus if ur gonna go lambos make sure u do it big n go w/ a 90 degree kit....
ronaldbassi 08-04-2009, 07:35 AM RV6 J pipe has been out for about 3 months. Guy named Richard Wong started a small business selling parts for our J series. Here's the site.
http://r-v6p.ecrater.com/
You can eithe get the RV6 kit or the ATLP kit. The kit I ordered consists of J-Pipe, precat deletes, and high flow cat. His site says $1000 for all three. Email him and ask for a deal like he gave me. $835 shipped. RV6 is much cheaper than ATLP with better clearance. Jpipe and high flow cat from ATLP cost over $600. ATLP as far as I know doesn't have precats yet and RV6 does. Richard has the setup on his car dyno'd with about 27 horses increase and about 25 pounds of torque. Give him a call and he's an all around nice guy.

Yea I have the 3rd cat delete in my trunk waiting for install. Looks like it will fit perfectly fine. i'm going to order the pre cat deletes next then J pipe. You are gona need an adapter plate welded onto the front pre cat delete though since we have egr on our front one. I'm having NVA-AV6 from v6p mod mine when I get it in from richie
SteezusChrist 08-04-2009, 12:10 PM rich from rv6-p just sent me an email saying the j-pipe application only fits the 03-07 accords. thats because the 04-08 TL is built on the same platform as the 7th gen accord
L's TLS 08-04-2009, 12:11 PM ^^^ This is an experimental thing. All of the parts look the same which is why we are trying it out.
SteezusChrist 08-04-2009, 12:23 PM ooo i see, let me know how it goes!
ronaldbassi 08-04-2009, 02:22 PM Yes it does. Go to acurazine.com and look for the thread there. The have a car with the RV6 Kit and an ATLP V2 Pipe as well. The only modification is the hangar where the jpipe I believe hooks onto so it will stay where it's supposed to go. Very minor fabrication.
so your saying the j pipe and race pipes from an 04-08 TL will fit our 08-09 accord coupes?

you're right they should just stay in the kitchen  :paranoid:
just kidding
SteezusChrist 08-04-2009, 03:52 PM i've been looking around azine for almost a year now, and i know that the 7th gen accords are the same platform as the 3rd gen TL's, but didnt think the 8th gen accords would even come close.
willyro12 08-06-2009, 08:47 PM what is that on/in your driver seat...it looks very comfy...?

Every time I see this video, it makes me sick. Who in the **** would do this to a car?!?!?! I would like to kick the doors off this car. And Ronald, no offense to your doors. I think they look alright. However, the Accord in the video definitely crossed the line.
