View Full Version : How Many People Actually Love Their Accords

Hi, I am a new member to this forum and I have just purchased my first Honda. A 2008 Accord sedan 4cyl EXL-NAVI from a private owner who never drove it. It had 3400 miles and I thought I stole it from him. As I paid 21,500 for the car. I have only put 200 miles on car with no complaints. The reason I ask this question is I read so many complaints from members on here about their cars. It makes me want to sell it already and buy the Camry I was going to buy. Side note : Yes I do normally drive Toyotas. How many people on here love their Accords and have never had any issues. And how many would buy another. By the way, I do love this site. Jeff

This is a very common issue with internet forums. you only see, or mostly see the complaints and problems users have.
Thats why they post for information normally.

To answer your question, this is my first Honda too and it is living up to my expectations for what i bought it for.

This is my second Accord and I love it. I loved my first Accord too. Shortly after I bought my first one, I said as long as Honda didn't screw anything up, I would buy another, and well, 9 years later here we are.

As Edaccord08 posted, that is just how internet forums are. I'm sure if there was a forum for "I just won the lottery and have 100 million dollars" there would still be tons of complaining.

I think what seems to be the biggest thing on this forums are people second guessing if they made the right choice. There are lots of other cars out there, but the fact is, if you had chosen another car, there is probably a forum for owners of that car that have similar complaints, but about different things.

You are right about the second guessing. As you can tell, thats what I am doing now. I just need to hear more positive views. I joined this site to look for ways to upgrade the look of my honda. Not to hear about how bad they are.

All you have to do is look around the forum and see how many of us have made "improvements" to make the cars our own. Yes I love my Accord and I would like to add that there will always be those who have problems, but as was pointed out before, these are amplified for two reasons:

1. You are always critical of the one you love.
2. Very large collection of Accord lovers.

FWIW - This is my first Accord, I am very pleased with it, and would definitely consider getting a second one.

My only issue so far was a faulty TPMS warning, triggered by a sudden drop in temperature; otherwise, the car has, and I expect will continue to, perform without issue. I do not find that there exists an unreasonable level of "road noise," nor is my model plagued by rattles and squeeks.

The Accord is a very solid vehicle. Yes, there will be people who post about this and that - but expect to find such complaints on any automobile forum. It's all a matter of perspective. Mine is that I purchased a reliable vehicle which has a history of reliable performance, excellent resale value, and owner satisfaction.

Enjoy your purchase.

Look, you could never get a car without any issues. Anything eventually breaks down - it depends if you know enough to be ready and/or to use regular maintenance to prevent some malfunctions.

I love my Hondas, even though good ol' Civic had given mi quite a lot headaches (I've bought it used and it was not maintained properly, thus breakdowns).

I hope I'll continue to drive Honda (preferably Accord) for a long, long time, since value for the money is more than satisfactory for me!

Thanks to everyone posting so far. I am feeling alot better already. My intentions are to keep this car until the wheels fall off. As I said before it is a EXL-Navi sedan 4cyl. Alabaster silver. I want to keep it clean. I have already tinted all windows and debadged car. Near future upgrades are V-6 front bumper and fogs. Paint rear honda emblem same color as car and upgrade tires and wheels to the coupe 18 inch wheels.

I'm on my second Accord. I still have my 1st (a 7th gen) and am reluctantly trying to sell it, but I can't keep 2 cars. Both have had minor issues, but as was stated already, what car doesn't? I got/get all the regularly scheduled maintenance done and the cars continue to run like new. After my current Accord I'd definitely consider buying another. I'm sure you'll learn to at least like your car. I'm a firm believer in buying exactly what you're looking for, so I'd say you should have probably bought a Camry. You got a good deal on the Accord though.

I have always heard good things about Honda too. I like the fit and finish of the Accord over the Camry. I am only second guessing because of all of the complaints I here on here. I love the car and I did get a awesome deal.

I've owned many Hondas and I really love my Accord. I was even looking at trading it in for an Oddessy, but couldn't. I realized I will miss the Accord. Yeah there are alot of ppl who complain about this and that, but remeber, no car is perfect. I do have rattles here and there but it don't bother me. My dad was a Ford guy untill I pulled him to the Honda side. He got an Oddessy and he loves it. Just this past weekend I went with my sister in law and she traded in her Chevy van for an Oddessy. Well i guess you can tell by my screen name that I just love Hondas. Well hope you enjoy you Accord as much as I do. And Welcome to the site......

Accord FTW! As mentioned above, it's not a matter of if you are going to have car troubles, but when. Honda makes some of the most reliable and cost efficient cars on the road today, and they're fun to drive.

i really do love my accord...my first car was a 99 accord sedan (5 speed man.) that i bought from my brother at age 18 with 129,000 miles on the clock for 2500 bucks. i loved that car, in the time he drove it there was very little maintenance that ever needed to be done and he drove the heck out of that car...i drove it until i had enough saved up for a downpayment on a new car/trade in of the old accord. when shopping for new vehicles i was all over the spectrum (nissan xterra, subaru wrx, mazda 3, nissan altima coupe, the list goes on) then i decided to drive the new accord coupe for the heck of it...the dealer had 2 on the lot, a 6-6 in ppm which was a little to much for me to afford fully loaded and a nbp i-4...i drove the i-4 and bought it the same day, to this point i have 10,000 on the clock and no issues, i LOVE my accord

Being almost 61 years young I have owned about 30 cars in my life including 3 Honda Accords. A 1991 LX sedan, a 2005 EX V6 sedan, and my current 2007 EXL V6 coupe and they have been the best of all of my cars. The 2007 is the winner hands down. This winter I am going to purchase a low mileage 2005 or later Honda CRV all wheel drive for winter snow driving. I never drive my 2007 Accord in rain or snow. Hondas rule!

I love my Accord. This is my third Accord(2nd 7th Gen). I am in the process for shopping for a new car. I do not feel comfortable buying a new 8th gen. Reliability and resale value are not just enough anymore. They are lacking in features and they are just too darned big.

Dude features get the fully loaded has pretty same features as other luxury cars out there. in terms of size I agree its a bit bigger than older models but really depends on you the V6 really puts out great power and I feel solid on streets and I like the space.

For the value its not bad and gets alot of attention on the road.

I hated my Accord at first. I have an 09 Ex-L V-6 with Navi...it took a good 5000 miles to break it in. But I have to admit I love it now. I am having some issues...the brakes squeak..according to my dealer Honda is working a fix..apparently mot of the 09's are squeaking. That aside, my only other issue is it doesn't corner like my Grand Prix did...but then again the Honda is not a "wide track". I figure I'll get some better tires when these one wear out. And hopefully that will help.
But other than those things I love this car now.

I just retired from BMW corporate. I get one 328 for life, changing out every 6 months. Nice perk. My wife has that car as the insurance is cheap. So I had to buy something. Did not want a $600 payment even at BMW cost and loved the accord coupe.

I have not been disappointed in the least. the power is adequate for a commuter and the ride is acceptable. Std equip on the LS-x is good and the lease payment is 275.00. I'm very happy. It pales in comparison when you drive the 328, but it's way less than half the price. I like soft-modding it a bit too...

... You are always critical of the one you love.

Huh. And I thought you were supposed to accept their eccentricities and quirks and love them unconditionally :)

But seriously, though, my 8th gen is the best car I've ever owned in that it does exactly what I expect it to do with aplomb. In fact, if I had the money laying around I'd buy another one just like it.

This is my 4th Accord (all sedans), and I also own a Ridgeline, and have previously owned 2 Acura Legends. I have never had a serious mechanical problem with any of these vehicles, in fact, I think I only had one minor problem with my 84 accord, after 120,000 miles; nothing else comes to mind with any of the other cars. Just bought an '09 EX-L with Navi, WDM, and it certainly is the largest Honda I have owned; probably larger than the Legends. Even with HFP wheels, back-up camera, body-side molding, window tinting, deck-lid spoiler (should be standard!), it would be hard to beat it in price by anything from Lexus, MB, BMW, or even Acura. The reliability and low cost of ownership/maintenance are huge factors in my mind.

I was also 2nd guessing when I bought my 08 Coupe coming from a 350Z. The ride, the power and everything is different...but it's growing on me and I really love the shape of the car. So far I have no complaints and it appears to be a solid car. Don't let people on the forums get to you with their complaints.

When I bought my 04 350Z I joined one of the Z forums and there was tons of complaints about the Z, brakes, feathering, tranny...etc. When I sold it four years and 77K miles later, it never broke down on me once, was never in the shop (except for oil changes and regular maint), not even a flat tire!

My wife has an 06 Honda Element, she loves it and no issues so far at 46K (knock on wood). I don't think you could go wrong with a Honda...unless you went with the Ridgeline ^... kidding :D

You'll have complaints on every car ever made. No one thing pleases every person. That being said I owned a 99 Accord coupe and loved it. Loved it to the extent of I had trouble trading it in. Finally decided to do so and ended up buying a new V6 coupe. I thought I'd like the new one but the more I drive it, the more I love it. Even more than the old one.

Test drove your BMW 328 6M coupe last week. I must admit the transmission and (especially) the clutch do make my AV6 6M pale by comparison.

But (my car + 23k) the pleasure certainly has a stiff.........price.

I agree Jeff, most of the time we hear the bad things about a vehicle in forums and not the good but I can tell you I have owned many cars (4 of them hondas and 2 of those accords) and I honestly say they have been the best value and reliable cars I have owned, and as much as I love talking about performance I can tell you I owe my life to the safety of my old accord where I walked away without a scratch after an incredible accident. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I love my car. This is my 4th accord, had a 97 for 11 years, and an early 80s hatchback that lasted 250K miles without problems. I probably wasnt going to get another Honda, but I fell in love with the coupe the moment I saw it. I dont have any of the problems Ive seen on this forum. After I got the car I got on this forum and then got paranoid thinking I am missing something, so I started looking all over the car for stuff and listening for creaks, etc.... I think they are a vocal minority....

The longer I own my Accord, the more I fall in love with it every day......

When I get off work, and I've had a hard day, getting into that comfortable interior instantly relaxes me. Driving it does the same - I will tell all of you who do not have the manual V6 coupe, it is by far the best combination of value, performance, luxury, comfort, and style on the road. Period. End of story.

It satisfies the purist in me with the stick shift. I have the comfort of soft but supportive leather, heated seats with 8 way driver power adjustment, I have the luxury of everything from auto up/down for the windows and moonroof to dual zone climate control that REALLY works well. And it's value is by far the best on the market - who sells all of this for less than $30k - with a V6 engine?

Fantastic car. I will keep it untill it rusts or the wheels fall off.

It is my second Honda - my first which I still own is a 2000 Prelude I bought brand new in December of 1999. It now has 214,000 miles and still runs great.

You take care of your Honda it will take care of you.

Not arguing, just pointing a quick thing out so please don't get mad: Acura is strictly a nameplate in North America, nothing more.

The NSX is the Honda NSX in the rest of the world.

As is every other car that is global with an Acura nameplate in North America.

I understand that this car was never built to be a performance enthusiast machine.... to most this car is nothing but transportation, it doesn't envoke that kinda emotion that says 'god i love my car' --- its an appliance, A-B tool.

I myself am not in that camp. I bought the car beacuse I had a budget of no more than 30 grand and wanted the niceset, quickest, most reliable, best value for my money. And it is that bar none. My 2nd option was a used G35 coupe that already took its huge depreciation hit... but I didn't want used.

Bottom line, best bang for the buck. everything I could want in a car, more than adequate power, good space, comfortable as hell, looks better than the G35, and maybe on par with the G37s look.... good gas mileage, all the toys I could care for... whats not to love???

All the people that hate on the small things that go wrong, well that what a warranty is for. If the dealer dicks you around and doesn't help you with your issues, thats the dealer's fault not the car. Tip your service guys and they'll take care of you for as long as you know them. I did that with my S2000, Prelude, and now my Accord, I know all my service guy's by first names and they look the other way with certain mods and dont give me shit for fixing brake problems because I have a stereo in the car.

That being said the car does have a few flaws here and there that I could do without, but all I do when i consider those is what was my alternative???? And I always come back to the same conclusion, theres simply nothing better out tehre for the money that met my requirements, (new, good value, powerful, comfortable, toys, good mileage etc...)

I was in the same boat. When I start looking for a new car, the G35 coupe wa one of the first ones I sat in. I got the same feeling I got from my first car (a used 1984 Pontiac Fiero). Not that I had to have a G35, just a car that gave me that same driving enjoyment. I really did not want a car that did not use regular unleaded and seperate tire sizes from rear to front.

I was about to buy a used 2007 accord coupe EX-L 4cyl. My wife knew I wanted a V6, so we decided to get a new Honda. The ONLY thnig I would gripe about the car is not beaing able to use the ANC and an aftermarket sub w/amp at the same time.

I really like my Accord.

My car is a very early 08 and is very issue laden.
Engine burns 1 quart of oil every 3000 miles
Slight surging on acceleration
Trans grinds randomly going into second gear, manual
Rear brakes worn out completely without a hint of wear on the fronts
Front seat height adjustment leaks down over time
Steering wheel shakes while braking
Paint chipping off around rear brake lights
Gas door wont open in cold weather unless I press the lever 10 times

I've owned 7 hondas since 1986 and this is the first with any issues. I wish that I had my 86 prelude Si back. Thanks for letting me vent my frustration

it really sucks that your car has that kinda amount of issues.... they're not simple creaks they're big deals.... and i dont necessarily want this thread to become another gripe thread, but i'm curious to know what YOU have done to remedy the issues... what does the dealer say? if they're asses and wont help, have you tried other dealers? What does american honda have to say about the issue?

I had a lot of issues with my 04 TSX which was one of the very first ones built so it too had its fair share of issues.... but the dealer took care of all of them, and when they didn't, american honda stepped in and did the right thing.

When the latch ripped the convertible top on my s2000 the dealer said it was my fault and didn't want to do anything about it other than charge me $2000 for a new top.... american honda got involved came and saw the car, saw how the latch clearly went through it and that it wasn't through my own negligence and they replaced the top fully without charge to me, 2000 miles OUT of factory warranty.

I guess what i'm saying is that in my experience, when honda's product failed me, they always stepped in and took care of it.

The 8th gen coupe (pardon my coupe bias) at its price point, is the sexiest shape on the road.

When my wife pulled in the driveway the other day I simply stopped and stared at this beautiful car cruising around our circle. I am still regularly blown away by the styling.

The sexiest thing about the car for me, something I noticed immediately when I got behind the wheel for the first test drive, is seeing the subtle fender and hood bulges from the drivers seat. I've never been behind the wheel of one, but for some inexplicable reason, that view beyond the windshield just seems very Ferrariesque.

Damn straight I love my Accord!

I absolutley love my Accord. My 1st car was a 2004 Chevy Cavalier basic model, roll up windows, no power anything! But i was only 16 its the only new car i could afford. Also it was hot hooked up custom paint too. But i got a great job now and i wanted something i would be comfortable to dive in. and i love it!!! i have the red coupe black on black interior no navi and cloth seats i dont like leather. But i have no complaints about this car :)

You may be hearing quite a few gripes here, especially owners of the early '08 models. Honda drivers are kinda hard to please :-). I used to be, up to a few years ago, a GM fanatic. My wife getting Hondas (An '01 Civic RIP, then an '03 CR-V) got me used to the word "reliable". These two cars together (A bit under 200 000km altogether) have experienced fewer repairs in these 8 years than my last GM (A '95 Buick Regal) in any 12-month period. I just passed 30 000km on my '08 Accord Coupe, and it's the same story: gas, oil and lubrication, period.

I love my car for everything except rattles. Most newer cars seem to rattle a bit once they are broken into though anyway.

Toyotas may rattle less, but I don't think its worth it because I do not like the steering feel on a Toyota, or the styling either.

The 8th gen coupe (pardon my coupe bias) at its price point, is the sexiest shape on the road.

Damn straight I love my Accord!

The sexy shape is why I love my Accord too, and damn glad I got the V6 but maybe should have gotten a manual. Definitely want to keep this car for its lifetime which is why I've started putting mods in it as I've no intention of ridding it anytime soon.

Having my EXL V-6 coupe since April, I must say it does drive very well.It did need new brakes {all} after 300 miles, but that was covered , and didnt cost me anything. The only complaint is my console rattles especially when I first drive it. Like 2 pieces of plastic rubbing together and this at times drives me nuts. It did it since the day it was new.Other than this I felt it was a good bang for your buck with good gas mileage.

Being my first Honda, and the first car I've ever bought brand new from a dealership, I was pretty discouraged about the brake problems. After I realized I had to replace my rear pads after what I thought was a low 35K miles, I see now that I'm lucky that they lasted that long compared to others.

Overall, It's a great car I think. I upgraded from a 2000 Hyundai Elantra, so of course I love it. My Alabaster Silver LX-P sedan looks almost like an E60 5-series BMW, for only $18,500 brand new (minor hail damage=low price, plus 2.9% financing for 60 months!).

I've had the car for an entire year this month, and have already put 45,000 miles on it. My commute is generally a 2 hour drive everyday, plus two trips to Memphis, TN (I live near KC, Kansas), a couple to St. Louis, MO, Tulsa, OK, just recently drove to Dallas, TX, etc., and to be stuck in an Accord for so much time in only a year, I still like to drive it, and just can't get over how good it looks. It just does everything so well, from bumper-to-bumper traffic, high-speed lane changes on combusted inner-city highways, driving agressive, or relaxed; every component, from engine to suspension, seems to communicate effortlessly in unison.

Sure, It's not very fast, and oh how I'd love the V6, I usually get 36 mpg at the pump with the LX's I4. You just need to remember what this car is, a family sedan, and in that brand new price range, coupled with Honda's reputation (and as long as I still keep getting complements on the car), I can see myself driving this thing for at least 8 more years, as long as I don't keep driving 45K miles a year!

I've been thinking... The thing with most of serious car forums (not ricers paradise ;) ) is that these are good places to ask questions about car issues, since there are so many other people driving the same/similar car - therefore, on may expect better answer.

BTW, I've ridden my Accord on the back seat for the first time since I've owned it (my bf is just learning how to drive - got the permit the other day and we went with our landlord for a coffee and presentation of his driving skills) - well, I'm surprised how much space there is on back seats (even though both front seats were pushed all the way back) and how little road bumps did I feel (roads are disaster around here). My bf is also thrilled by the Accord - he's quite a big guy but it's spacious enough for him and he also likes the acceleration (in comparison with drivers training center's Renault Clio and my good ol' Civic, it's a rocket).

Got my Accord coupe last year in October, straight out of the showroom, loved it ever since, never had any problems with it. To me it was perfectly build, well except the fact they gave them stock halogen lights, but that can always be fixed :D
With all that said I FREAKIN LOVE MY ACCORD and wouldn trade it for ANYthing

Love? too soon to tell, but as of right now im pretty happy with it. I use to drive a 2002 Maxima which I absolutely loved. When I traded it in, it had 140,000 miles with very few problems. I got my accord 3 weeks ago and it only has 1k miles on it. Its a very comfortable and road worthy car, however getting used to an i4 is a pita coming from a powerful v6.

09 lx sedan. Nice car. I have had many Accords over the years and this one ranks near the top. Thats the good news. My wife bought a 2010 Subie Outback last week. Base model with 2.5 and CVT. Wow............That car blows away my Accord as far as comfort and quietness, and it handles good. The best part is she paid 23k for it. I had a 07 CRV and this thing puts it to shame. I think Honda needs to address overall noise better

What do you mean by sophistication?

Boxer engine,Symmetrical AWD, CVT with 6-speed with manual mode via paddle shifters, super quiet ride. That's what I got for 23k..............

When referring to sophistication I mean the smoothness of the engine performance. The Suburu 4 cyl turbo during acceleration is not as smooth as the Honda engines.

I only put 10k miles on the car, at first I was leaning towards the 09 TSX but its only available 4 cylinder until now. So far the only problem that I have is the rear brakes that scream loud, other than that as the day goes by I kinda like how it looked and drive(1st Honda that I owned).

To All:

I am one of the most loyal, die-hard HONDA fanatics on this entire planet.

My wonderful association with Honda motorcycles, beginning in 1967, logically eventuated in my purchasing three (3) of their cars, including the two (2) Accords I presently own. I'd likely still have my 1983 Civic Hatchback, had it not been tragically totalled, in April 1993.

Honda does NOT build <quote-end-quote> "Perfect" machines. That is impossible.

However, the Accord didn't achieve world-class status, by sheer accident.

Honda's legendary reputation for quality, reliability, performance, high resale value, and pure driving enjoyment is how the company built an enormous, loyal customer base that keeps coming back, time and time again. And I am enormously proud to be a part of it!

I get a lot of envious stares...and gushy compliments...on both of my cars, most everywhere I go. I wonder WHY that is? :dunno:

I love my 7th generation Accord, it's absolutely the best car I have ever owned. It's powerful, fun-to-drive (Honda builds some of the best manual transmissions on the market), looks sporty, actually has a trunk and a useable backseat (unlike most other coupes in this class), has some neat tech with the navigation system. And it's backed up by a car company with a bullet-proof reputation for realibilty. Not to mention no other car has made it on Car & Driver's annual "Top 10" list more times than the Accord.

My second best car I ever owned was the 1996 Civic I traded in to buy the Accord - with more than 200,000 miles on that engine, I never had to do more than the basic maintenance, like oil changes, timing belt, etc.

You mentioned Toyota, and I don't mean to slam them, but I was looking through the Consumer Reports annual car issue, and I was surprised to see a lot of their cars have slipped significantly in the ratings. Not so much the Camry or Corolla, but the FJ Cruiser, the Tundra, and several other vehicles were getting pitiful marks. That really surprised me because in years past, Honda and Toyota were really duking it out for the honor of favorite automaker at CR - now it seems to be Honda and Huyndai (yes, Huyndai) getting the top marks across the board.

I don't won't to come off as a Subie fanboy because I like and own Honda products but the standard 2.5 boxer engine(non-turbo) mated with the CVT trans is much smother and refined than the 2.4 in the base Accord. If anybody gets the chance drive the new legacy sedan and give us your opinion.

I loved my '89 Integra for 385k miles. I loved my 2003 Accord for 105k miles, with no out of pocket expenses except for front brakes/disks at 105k miles. I loved my 2008 Accord for 29k miles.

I am hating it at the moment (30k miles). An oil change revealed low coolant, a shock absorber needing to be replaced and a $323 rear brake repair expense. After reading a few threads on rear brake problems, I see that I am not a statistical outlier. This issue has been out there on other threads for 18 months, but Honda has not issued a TSB?

I was hating my Accord from day one when I found out it had 86miles on it...WTF? From there it was trunk, glovebox, fender, drivers door-all out of alignment, gas door wouldn't open, rattle on rear deck, the list goes on and on.

Then I dropped the car off for 6.5 weeks and drove a 2000 Accord Coupe. It was lighter and I could whip it around turns w/ease. I really like its' nimbleness. But when I got my car back I was so pleased w/the power and comfort...and the looks! This time no problems cause all fixed and now stereo was in so it was like a new car to me. I love my car now. Even won 1st at ESN09! I just wish I loved it from day one b/c if I bought it and didn't plan on modding it I would have been VERY dissappointed.

There are a few things I overlooked during my 20-minute test drive. After sitting in it longer the seats begin to really hurt, especially sitting in traffic for a couple of hours. I drove it up to DC, which is about a 4 hour trip for me. Never again! My a$$ was so numb, I could barely walk. The rattling on all 4 sides of the car gets really annoying. Last but not least I read that the Accord was the worse new car of 2008, and I've been thinking of getting rid of it ever since then.

There are pros to the car, I drive about 800 miles a month and only fill up twice a month. Maintenance is minimal and I'm confident the car will last 20 years.

I still want to get rid of it because the truth is I'll never drive a car for 20 years.

Jeff

Silly boy, go to the Camry forums and read the complaints. No car is perfect.

I'm in love with my 08 Coupe 6-6!

I'm going to drive it to the ground for sure. My favorite ride so far.

The looks is awesome, it's fast yet smooth when you want it to be smooth relaxing ride. Great seats and conforts even in the back. Great looking interior (I got the 2 tone beige/black). Great fit and finish. Good on gas.

Possibly the best ride I could afford period.

I'm not sure we can relay on websites like carcomplaints.com.

Maybe people driving Accords are more aware of this kind of website than let's say, someone driving a BMW. I used to drive a Mazda6 and the forum was full of people having issues with the car. I got lots of problem with my Mazda6, but I know 2 guys at work that are still driving there 2003 Mazda6 and never got a single problem with them and they are passed 100000 miles on them.

A car is a car, all brands have their issues sooner or later, the good thing about Honda is that they usually solve the problems without asking questions. At least, at my dealer ;)

carcomplaints.com is not a legitimate site for rating of cars. Anyone can make a posting on that web sight (Just like this one) and have never owned or driven a Honda or even accord for that fact. I don’t buy what is posted on that site. If Honda Accord had that rating it would not be the second best selling car in the USA!

Here is one site, but remember this coming from Honda but it shows the reviews the the Accord has received over the years ans just this year also.

I had a Honda Shadow bike,03 civic, 94 del sol(to which has 186k miles on it) which purrs like a kitten and in the market to get a VFR Interceptor motorcycle. I think their products are some of the best made. I have owned a ton of cars and the biggest mistake is not going to Honda right off the bat. I have only been satisfied with the Honda product and wanted to piss in the gas tanks of every other car i have owned that was not a Honda. If you actually go and look at the numbers, the ONLY reason the 08 accord is there is because of the brake problem, you take away that 4XX number and Honda drops below #20, unlike other cars on there that have issues across the board.

Also, keep in mind that the more cars that are sold, the more issues that are going to be reported, not cause its not made as well, just because probability states that the more there are of them out there, the more problems will appear... to be honest there are some rattles and road noise i don't like about the car... but i wouldn't drive anything else for that price range...

definitely wouldn't do anything but a manual transmission in a CAR.... only time I'd buy auto is a SUV. i like the cloth interior on the Lx-s better than the EX, so the only thing id do different woulda been the 6-6 in 2009...

If Honda wasn't retarded and made a v6 6spd 4door accord, that would really make me happy, but no, they have to be stupid and forget about that demographic of buyers. I'm sure that there will be 12,000 buyers per year who would buy that car. Considering how low volume the 6-6 coupe is, i don't see why the Sedan wouldn't sell.

I don't currently like the tires (Michelin's that came on it) they have slow leaks and terrible wet performance, and how FAST I always find myself driving.

I love the driving feel, it is a big front driver, but doesn't feel "wallowy". The driving position is nice and the steering wheel I prefer to my 1991 Porsche 911 C4.

Id say overall Im happy with mine. It has its quirks but far less than any other new car ive owned. Would I buy it again YES. My only complaint about the car is the "premium stereo" Honda should be ashamed of it. I got it with the nav option ***had I been able to get nav without it I would have. **** Interesting that a friends Pontiac G8 system completely OWNS my accord one.. With the rattling low powered sub>> Its just a joke of a premium system unless the year is 1982.. Sub is weak, sound is somewhat flat, and just overall sounds like what should come in a new base model KIA.

I've not seen another vehicle out there, at *any* price, that I find as appealing as the car I drive. Very happy with mine. Yes, it has its cheap details, like the awful plastic parking brake and crappy shift knob and boot, but that's to be expected. But where matters, the way it drives, the firm and very communicative suspension and steering, and the awesome shifter and clutch, can't complain.

I'm more than happy with my 2003 V6-6 speed! Got it at 45,696 miles, which is kinda hard to find on a 6 year old car! The only thing I'm complaining about is it's non-navi, but I'll see if I can get the factory navigation put in whenever I get some money! There is no way I could go back in time and stop myself from getting this car. The dealership screwed me over by adding another $3700 to the price of the car (saying he jacked up the price because of an aftermarket sound system), so I had to pay the list price + $3700. That's okay because I traded in my piece of crap 97 Accord to them (which had 3 oil leaks, no A/C, driver's window wouldn't roll down, and power locks would lock but not unlock, so you had to manually unlock them) for $3700. So basically I got my POS Accord off my hands and drove away with a much nicer car!

My Honda is as expected, just a great car. Did not want 6 cylinders, as I had one, and once having a 6 wished it was a 4. This I4 is more advanced and more powerful. I like all safety features, computers, NAV, etc. Honda Accord Coupe is a perfect vehicle for me. Regards

I'm pretty happy with my car. I bought my car based on looks not quality but I have noticed some things I don't like (door panels rattle from the speakers, XM radio info doesn't scroll, visibility/size, etc.) and some things I already knew before I bought it (rear's ugly, cluttered buttons).

What's with people with other Gen's replying to 8th Gen topics? Somebody really wants an 8th Gen..:lmao:

Really? You think the rear's ugly? Was one of the reasons I liked the look of the coupe, although it breaks it up better if you have the lip spoiler at least. I'm happy with this car very much, first new car I ever bought. For me the quality of the some of the plastic parts doesn't bother me too much because I never had a luxury car. For me the EX is pretty luxurious. But no regrets.

Ugly might be a little extreme. It's somewhere between ugly and plain looking. The shape of taillights is really plain and I don't like how the closer you get to the bottom of the bumper, the more it bulges out. I forgot to mention the chrome trim around the quarter window is made up of a few pieces instead of being a one piece; it looks cheap that way.

I like everything else about the exterior though, especially how it looks from the side; it has a great looking side profile because of the window.

Seeing how I started this thread I might as well contribute my opinion. I'm mostly happy with my car. I have a V6 auto without the nav. I wish I would have shelled out the extra money and just gotten the nav package. At times I wish I could magically change my auto to a manual. I like the overall look of the car's exterior. I do wish they made the tail lights more like those of the concept. How did we go from LED tails in the 07 to single bulb for our cars? My previous car was an 06 civic coupe. I wanted a more comfortable, faster car. The accord took care of that need, while also bumping my payment up another 200 bucks...As much as I like my car (minus the headaches with the brake noise and steering wheel column clicking) if I had a chance I'd go back and prevent myself from getting it. I can't go back in time, so I will have to be happy with what I have and what I pay 530 a month for.

Indubitably

Just wanted to see overall how content people are with their accords. First, are you content with the engine/trim choice (V6-I4, auto-man, nav-no nav). Second are you happy enough that given a chance to go back in time and be able to stop yourself from buying it, would you?

I Love My Accord

EXL-I4 with no nav

this car is absolutly amazing, but at times i do wish i had a v6 but its not really a big deal

My brother has Legacy 2.5gt limited. Fit and finish, it's about the same as the accord. Obviously the accord is much roomier. I'm not sure if it's more refined, engine is noiser due to it being a flat four (boxer), and in terms of fuel efficiency, it's worse than my current lousy gas mileage for my accord. The weight of both cars are about the same, although the Subie shows it's weight more while the accord felt light. The accord doors have a nice solid European thunk although there's a fair bit of road noise from the tires than the Subie. I did expect a few more creature comforts in the accord though.

This is my first Honda, coming from a 17 year old Lexus ES300, while I do miss the serenity of the Lexus there were major issues with the engine, drivetrain, and my pet peeve 15 mpg. Although I haven't grown to love the car just yet, but I'm sure I will, I am quite happy with it, reliability peace of mind. There are a few seldom clunks I'm concerned about, but the brakes issue, would probably be ditched with upgraded pads and rotors. I'm not worried about tearing the front and rear bumpers just parking it into my garage unlike my Lexus which had frame rail scrapes, damaged exhuast piping behind the scrapped bumpers. I had a few requirements while looking for a new car, I needed a high combined fuel economy with enough room to seat 4 on long road trips, it had to have fairly good handling, it must get in and out of my garage without damaging the car (reason why I can't drop it), and last but not least looks great. I think the Accord fit the bill quite well, although the Camry SE was tempting, but as I found out after buying the accord, it won't get into my garage properly, the underbody kit and suspension is too low.

Overall, I would say 8 out of 10 stars. I got a V6 EX-L Sedan with NAVI Auto trans. Except for the squeky brakes and poor mileage.

Being only 19 I am very happy with my new car. About 75-80%.

My dad kinda forced me upon the accord though cause I wanted a used evo8. He said Honda is reliable and safe. I understand what hes coming from and I totally agree.

Plus Im glad I didnt get a civic. The accord is way better IMO

I'm 20 and the coupe is my first car. I'm happy with my coupe. Sometimes I wish I had gotten a V6 though. However, after a pretty expensive speeding ticket I told myself that I should be glad I didn't get the V6 to have "too much fun" lol

I still love the k24 though!

W/mANUALtrans. is just fine---I thought a v6 would be better BUT once I learned to drive this car(this motor LIVES in the 3k to 6k rpm range)--paid $21,600....I STILL love this Honda! For the money, i cant find better...

+1 (Wanted to keep my Dad's e39 540i 6spd instead of trading a car in)

If I had a choice in buying a car for 29k; It wouldn't have been the Accord

--Would have gotten a used car instead :) But I'm not complaining, Car performs great!

I love my accord. I've never heard of a car going 260k miles with as few problems as I have had with mine, and couldn't imagine getting close to the same mpg after that many miles in any other car. I bought mine with 000017 miles on it and got around 29mpg on the highway, and very quietly. Now I have 255,000 and some change and get around 27 or 28mpg and have a lot of little squeaks and rattles, most of the interior noises were most likely caused by excessive abuse by the sound system.

I like my Accord. It's had some issues but Honda Canada and my dealer are working with me to resolve them. That's the most important aspect of new car ownership, if you ask me. I know that it's unrealistic to expect any car to be problem free but I wasn't expecting the sort of issues I've had with the Accord from a Honda product, so that's a little disappointing. Will I buy another Honda? Probably.

I forgot some other things that I'd like to add. You can't turn the fan on without turning on the A/C too. The line on the glove compartment doesn't line up with the rest of the dash when it's closed. I thought mine was just misaligned but I've noticed the stock photos are like that too. Also, the buttons aren't just cluttered, the layout is horrible too.

Am I the only one who notices the door panels rattle from the speakers? They rattle when I have the volume somewhat high (20) and vibrate/thump when I have the volume low (8).

I'm sure I'll think of more things as time goes by.

Thats to bad. The 8th gen seems to have it's share of rattles. My fav Accord was my 90 sedan and my 91 coupe. Those cars are built like tanks and have quality interiors. I had a 09 seadn and traded it because it was noisy and poor build quality for the money.

Ok, I may not be the oldest or wisest on here, but I do have more time in my 08 than most anyone on the road. So, here it is. I love my accord even though I have all the problems that you guys are talking about. But none of them really matter. This is one car that you can just keep the fluids fresh in and drive it til the wheels fall off. Here's what you might run into if you keep them long enough...

Lots of rear brake pads and calipers

Lots of front rotors

$30/ea. for spark plugs every 110k miles

@ 190k miles I noticed a funny tire wear issue and replaced my struts for a couple hundred bucks.

@ 200k miles your headlights will probably go out, one at a time and about a week apart. :)

@ 220k miles my AC decided to die a slow horrible death. I havent fixed it yet because it doesnt really stay hot up here long enough to warrant me paying for it rather than letting my new extended warranty kick in and pay for it.

@ 250k miles I have this electrical draw problem that I can't seem to figure out just yet.

I've had a decent system in every car I've owned for the most part, so all these little squeaks and rattles always come around eventually. No biggie. Do I care if my glove box doesnt line up just right? Not really. The first time it was hit was the first time I noticed the glove box, and I tried to get the other insurance company to fix it. :-)

And Big, do you have a pic of your double din that I can see. I'm thinking I should add video to the dangers of being on the road 12 hrs a day. =-)
