white LEDs are rarely 4300k because of he die material used.

They will be in one color temperature for white, the first ones coming in should be the more efficient 5500k die material.

ViPaDawG 08-20-2009, 06:30 PM For an 09 Accord Coupe, I went to Sylvania's site, and both DE3175 and 7443 are listed. Which should I get?
So if I wanted to get lights for My Map Lights, Dome, and Trunk, I'd have to purchase 2 sets of DE3175, and 1 set of 168s? and would I get T8 or T10? What's the difference?

I don't know where that 7443 reference comes from either, all I've seen are the DE3175
Each order is a pack of two bulbs, so you should need 2 orders of the DE3175 and 1 of the T10 168/194
T8 are a smaller more directional type of bulb, we only recommend these for corner markers that are more of a directional setup. Where are more radial pattern is needed the T10 will work better.
Also, there will be a 1W T10 directional being offered very soon as well.
ViPaDawG 08-21-2009, 09:28 AM Cool. Ordered the DE3175s for now, will hold off on the others.
retrosolutions 08-24-2009, 11:54 AM It seems some people are having trouble with the product from other vendors. It may get taken care of now under warranty, but after that golden year is up you are on your own in the dark!!!
Lucky me since my Mississippi plate has purple the bulbs always look purple
retrosolutions 08-24-2009, 03:29 PM Lucky me since my Mississippi plate has purple the bulbs always look purple
Oh, you mean it reflects off a lot of purple on MISS plates? Kind of a bummer unless you are going for that look, ever experiment with say an amber colored bulb?
ViPaDawG 08-24-2009, 06:25 PM I got mine today (I ordered 2 sets of DE3175, 2 for maps, and 1 for dome), they look good, but I feel like it is a bit too dim for the dome, but fine for the maps. I think if I could go again, i'd prob go somewhere that have some brighter 9 or 16 LED ones, but I mean, it's not TERRIBLY dim, but I just wish it was slightly brighter. Compared to stock, I think it's the same (both dome and maps), but I'm not complaining for $20. Install was easy, and I thought I had received a faulty bulb, but realized that positive and negative matters, so i flipped it around, and boom, it worked.

Thanks for leaving an honest review bud.
Can help out some others by telling us the color(s) you chose please?
Pictures would be great if you have the time, no pressure!
Our number one concern is fitment which we can assure with this style bulb, especially in the map lights and visor/mirror areas (which I found out the hard way myself in our testing phase) that only afford a certain space.
retrosolutions 08-24-2009, 06:38 PM Oh, and two LED tips:
1) LEDs are directional, use this to your advantage where applications allow for it, you can to put more light where needed
2) LEDs may run at reduced output under battery power as opposed to the engine running, this having to do with system voltages.

Yeah, i definitely aimed mine (at least the map ones) slightly to each side, whereas, the dome was pointing straight down. I went with White, because I wanted to bathe in it's glow (and not make my car dumb). I just like white light as opposed to blue/red because I need the lights to see in the dark, and a blue light certainly wouldn't help. Pics are attached.
Taken with a Nikon D90, Manual mode, 1/20 shutter speed, f/3.5, 3200 ISO. Oh, and these were all off battery power, as I didn't bother to start my engine, as I didn't know that it made a difference.
The pics: 1. How much light you see outside of the car. my windows are NOT tinted.
2. Amount of light on the dash with ONLY the dome light on
3. Amount of light on the dash with dome AND BOTH map lights on
4. Amount of light output from all 3 units from the passenger footwell area.
Hope that helps people in deciding!

I haven't bought from you but both my license plate LEDs burnt out. I think it's from using the trunk too much it shakes the two pin connectors. Would you be able to get me 2 LEDs with warranty? They all work at first, but after a few days from opening and shutting the trunk they stop working.

That was my initial understanding, but he might also a warranty with the LED's (which already is lifetime). I hope/think he means the latter though.

CYANiDE 09-12-2009, 08:06 AM Pair 194 168 158 2825 T10 LED Wedge Bulbs
Front/Rear Running Light Markers
PRICE: $15.00
Pair 194 168 158 2825 T8 LED Wedge Bulbs
Side Marker/Running Light
PRICE: $10.00
Other than price what's the difference with these two bulbs? Looking to buy a backup set for my license plate lights since my current ones are kind of "eh." I'm starting to think it might be my car, like the slot where the wedge bulbs go might be too "wide" and open to allow these to fit snugly.
---
Yup. I need to buy new ones. I didn't buy from Retro, but when I Get a replacement in from the people I ordered from it's a problem. When I check to see if the other one still works it's out. The wire practically melted the housing. WTF? Old bulb still works, won't be ordering from them again.
Time to move onto Retro bulbs, hopefully better quality, or then my car just doesn't like License plate LEDs. Is one of these bulbs brighter than the other? Looking to purchase tonight to get these in soon.

Well, if the contacts in the housing are comprimised you may have to get that replaced if LEDs bulbs are having trouble in there. How the other bulb shorted and melted the housing is beyond me though, doesn't sound like very good quality at all.
The T8 are more directional and also less power than the T10 type. We also now have two T10 types.
1) The 5-sided T10 type is best for 360 illumination
2) The 1-watt T10 type is forward firing only, but brighter
1 will work best for MOST license plate applications. These are the ones on the site ready to go.

Nope.
The T8 are lower wattage, directional with a inverse conical lense for wider dispersion. Not very bright
The T10 on the site now are the 5 sided LED bulbs
The 1W T10 are not yet up on the site (just got back in from a trip). These are forward firing only, but much brighter. These I can send you an invoice for.

Yes, that would be for those shown above.
retrosolutions 09-17-2009, 07:24 AM The competitors are up to it again, so dispell those myths....
There are actually T5, T8, T8.5, T10, T13, T15, and T20 bulb designations. What is more important is choosing a bulb that is the correct fitment such as 194, 168, 1157, 7440 etc. If you are unsure, just ask as you know we are always here to set the record straight.
"Also, there's no such thing as "dye" in LEDs to make them colored. They burn a phosphor which is chemically mixed, just like fireworks, to create a certain color."
That's correct, no such thing as "dye" but each and every LED is a die of semiconductor material. They do not burn anything, they are not dependent on phosphor as there are types of semiconductors used without layers of phophides even present. The color is dependent on the type of die material used.
And of course our LED bulbs still have a 0% failure rate to date

My only worry is what you mentioned before where one of the bulbs before melted part of the socket area. Hopefully that did not do something permanent that allows the bulb to wiggle free or not make contact, etc.
Coming to you soon!

The stock bulbs are in there perfectly, but it seems like the stock bulbs have more points of contact than LEDs do. It seems that bulbs either wiggle free or something else, because from the bulbs I had, even if I pushed them in really hard they wouldn't make contact. I think that's more of a quality issue than anythign else.
I need these ASAP as the other bulb burnt out already. They all last about a week then they become finicky to get to work. I don't know how that happens.

Well, if you find these still wiggle out on you at all, I'd say send the assemblies to us to have a custom LED array built into them. That won't be able to move at all.

We where a retofitting service way before we started offering our own products. That's why we know all those little gimmicks, gags, lies, and BS the competitors pull as we have been intimately involved with HID, LED for a very long time and don't simply pass out the lowest price junk out of Hong Kong with a spin. These other guys don't even know what LEDs are made of, or what a die is... they think its dye as in coloring pigment. And they try to spin it like we don't know what we are talking about, that's egg on their face:lmao:

Which bulb type for that, we have three to fit the 194 application? Color?

I believe I have a 1-watt bright white. I'm thinking the white might be different from different sellers so I might just get the pair. Do you think the white might be different? If so I'll go ahead and order the 194 bulbs directly from your site.

It may very well be, it depends on the die material, I unfortunately can not confirm either way. But, you could check with the pair already coming to you.

You can do either our 5 sided or 1W 194 LEDs, the 1W will be the brighter option.

What about the light for the glove compartment, is it the same 194/168 light? I'm gonna buy some LEDs from you soon and might be interested in getting the glove compartment light so just want to make sure that's the right one. I know these are good for license plate, trunk, and door/courtesy lights and the DE3175 are good for Dome and map lights. I might get all of those hopefully in the next 2 weeks.

The strip LEDs are for decoration only, they do not provide any driver usable light.
They can be used as marker lights, accent lights, under dash or under seat accent lights, in the trunk for extra light.... etc. Inside or outside.
Very basic tools needed, they have a positive and negative wire you can hook up to any 12v source on the vehicle. 3M adhesive is applied to the bottom of the strips, so they mount easy and very well to any clean surface.

crea78 02-14-2010, 06:22 PM After a little bit of figuring out how to change the bulbs, especially the license plate, I'm happy with the results. However, the cabin area isn't very bright, so I may upgrade to the 2W map/dome LED bulbs in the future. Otherwise, nice mod if you don't like the OEM amber lighting.
Edit: I hope I didn't put in the DE3175 bulbs in wrong, but I've noticed the map/dome lights are not putting off light like the courtesy lights are!! The only way the overhead lights are lit is if the LED portion of the bulb is facing up towards the headliner. At night, I can barely see so not sure if anyone else's Festoon (last image on the LED page) is the same or if I did something wrong. The OEM lighting is much brighter, but hate to spend another $30 upgrading to the 2W version if there is something else I can do with the ones I have.
retrosolutions 02-15-2010, 09:04 AM After a little bit of figuring out how to change the bulbs, especially the license plate, I'm happy with the results. However, the cabin area isn't very bright, so I may upgrade to the 2W map/dome LED bulbs in the future. Otherwise, nice mod if you don't like the OEM amber lighting.

You have them installed upside down, just spin them around so the LEDs face downward.
Are you sure you ordered the correct ones? Maybe shoot us an email with your order confirmation number, we can check it out for you to be sure.

Todd, I turned the bulbs downward like you said and now they are lit the way its suppose to be. The thing I was doing initially is put the LED bulbs straight down to the floor, but actually (for me) I had to tilt each bulb for the light to appear. Now the cabin is much brighter and I am one happy customer.
However (not blaming the LED bulbs), this morning when using my headlights, I noticed my fog lights WILL NOT turn on at all. So I have to make an appt. with Honda to see why they aren't functioning right now. :(

Yes, LEDs are directional, so having that tilt is perfect for performance where you need it and not having to flood the whole cabin with light straight down where most of it goes unused.

thanks for posting the photo!
Hope that helps people in deciding!
so u got the white lights, but in the pics it looks like theres a blue tint to it?

White LEDs will have a slight blue hue to them, of course not like the photo. The camera and white balance settings do this, making it look more blue than it truly is.

I believe he did, but I do not want to speak for him and I do not have his real name to look it up and verify. But I will say this, if those were the blue LEDs, the camera and settings once again are not accurately displaying the true color. The white would be more white, the blue would be more blue.

Sorry, it used to be, but when store prices were dropped on 3-31-10 shipping was not included with individual items anymore and invoiced separately upon weight and postal code. This is so that multiple item orders can enjoy much greater savings.

That's just as easy, they are both T10 type bulbs, so anything listed as T10 will technically fit. Although, the following bulbs are the best to use in those:

There is some background voltage in the circuit or there is reverse current gong through an unprotected bulb. I'd say contact the vendor you purchased from though.

krazyfiend 09-04-2010, 07:43 AM Would the 4w panel not be suitable (because of outside element exposure inside of the casing) for the license plate lighting on an 8g Accord coupe? I'm content with the current superbrightleds wedge led bulb I have now, but would definitely like more spread/light output if I could from one of these panel options if feasible.
About to upgrade my Dome and Trunk lights to the 12pc 6w panels, hence the inquiry about the license plate bulb and getting a nice lexus/bmw like spread across the plate with the one light mid-plate option we have on our cars (I believe lexus/bmw uses two led lights OEM if not mistaken)
TIA!

Well, its not a water-tight, or water-proof fixture but....water rarely, if ever, gets in there at all because of where it is located. You could probably do it, but I would expect that if it failed in 3-5 years that it would be normal considering the conditions. It would not have anymore problems than any other LED bulb in there though.
krazyfiend 09-04-2010, 08:17 AM Thanks for the quick response retro!
Not sure if you've ever seen the LP light holder area for the 168 wedge on the coupes before, but do you think going with the 12pc / 6w panel option would be stretching it, as it's more of a fit for the trunk/dome light and just stick to the 8pc / 4w panel since its more of a tight fit? (the 8pc panel's narrowness seems on par w/ the license plate light retainer plastic imho)

To be perfectly sure, I'd have to recommend measuring to see what will fit. I think the 12pc may be too wide/large.

Welcome bud, thanks!
RTripp58 09-23-2010, 11:19 PM I wish you just had a package for replacement of all of the bulbs on a 2008 Accord Sedan EX-L V6 Auto w/o Navi. I'm sorry I am not as technical as the rest of you guys! I'm trying to provide some extra light in the car for the wife, so she can get our babies in and out of their carseats in the evening and early AM.

The problem with a set package is what if you don't want all of them? You may want all of them, but someone else may only want some. Its not to say we can't make a package for you though, we certainly can, we just need to know which bulbs you want to replace.
Shoot us a PM, e-mail (sales@retro-solutions.com), or give us a ring (860) 655-2501 and we'd be more than happy to put a package together just for you and your wife's needs.

youngn 09-27-2010, 09:06 AM Dear Retrosolutions,
I've had the 55W 6K HIDs for about a year now. Recently one of the ballests have gone out and no longer works. I've tried all of the alternatives suggested in the manual (swapped sides, including purchasing new bulbs) but concluded it is the 1 ballest out.
On your site they are only sold in pairs. Is it possible for me to order just 1 new ballest?
Thanks,

It is possible yes, but please do contact us directly via EMAIL (sales@retro-solutions.com) for assistance with this. Its not LED related and this thread is for or LED products specifically.

Paulrybicki83 10-13-2010, 05:57 AM I have 6000k HIDs and I wanna purchase the 1157 LED bulbs from you guys for the front turn signal. Do you think the color of the bulbs would be pretty similar? Thank you

They would end up being very close, the LEDs have a 5500K rating on them, and on those its a slight blue hint to them... much like the 6000k HID.
Paulrybicki83 10-13-2010, 08:21 AM awesome thank you
