I have been thinking lately about changing the shift knob on my '96 accord because I don't really like the feel or the look of the stock one. Here are some pics of the stock shifter if you didn't already know what it looks like.

I would like to change the shift knob and the top of the shift boot where the ring is that clips on to the shift knob, so it looks kind of more like a civic shifter.

I was wondering if it would look wierd with a shift knob like this

and also if it would be easy to change it and to take out the ring at the top of the boot. The shaft of the shifter looks to be a little thicker than other shifters, could this be a problem? Also if anyone knows of any cylindrical shift knobs like the one i posted that look better than that one, please let me know.

Thanks for the help :D

those knobs are RICE! Neon colors and faux carbon fiber is shouting rice to everyone. Spend some good money to buy a good knob and support the hardworking companies out there that develop their own products. These companies need our support bc of the knockoffs that are picture above.

Look at other generations accords or the tsx. You will be much happier with the quality of OEM parts that fit your car.

I guarantee that those shift knobs are a PAIN to worrry about. I made the mistake a few years back by getting one and the thing fell off in my hand after shifts! They don't screw on to the factory threads. Most of the knockoffs use three opposing screws to tighten the knob onto the shifter - terrible quality.

End rant

I did just a few minutes of research and this is what I found. I'm interested to know also since I have the same shift knob :D

This 5sp skunk2 shift knob will keep you happy for years and will fit directly onto our shift lever with the 10 x 1.5 pitch thread. You will love the feel and weight of this shift knob in your hand. How much? $45 A great deal and worth every penny in my opinion.

I also recommend going with a skunk2 knob. I've never owned a manual, but I do know plenty of people who do and love the weight of the skunk2 and they even say it makes shifting a bit easier.
