: Could you do a swap???? J35A8 TL type-S
06v6coupe1 08-09-2009, 04:41 PM Ok im just looking around but I havent found anything about anyone doing a Tl swap yet (of course were talking about if you have a v6 model).
I have a 06 coupe with navi 6mt
Do you think you can just get the engine and transmission
(I want lsd)and it would work with all of our wiring harness??
or do you think its just a waste of money and time???
i think this would be awesome if we could have a better performance engine and still be OEM ( kinda )
Id like to see wat you guys think????

In order for this to work, you'd have to get the engine, transmission, wiring harness(es), and ECU. By that time, you're talking at least $4K.
f1snob 08-09-2009, 08:22 PM have you looked at v6performance.net? They're doing all kinds of stuff from TL cams to 3.5 swaps. I am not sure if I remember seeing a TL swap though.
07AccordEx-L 08-09-2009, 10:46 PM wrong forum to post this in. Go to v6performance.net. There are a lot of j series engine builds. U could opt for the j37 perhaps?

Both of them are correct. An advise: search there before asking. They are rude replying to questions as they thought all of us has the same knowledge...
TonyWare 08-10-2009, 02:41 AM The coolest thing about the type S setup is to also get the steering wheel gear paddle shifters :)
A guy by the name "nicepeta" on v6p has done it. His car here: http://www.v6performance.net/forums/vbgarage.php?do=view&id=20749 ... among other modifications! Check his threads about how he did it.
Dreamacre 08-10-2009, 02:54 AM What a waste of money.
Sell your car and get what you want.

Maybe modifying his car is what HE wants.
Some like to change up their car, and modify.
Just because it is your opinion that it is a waste of money, does not make it so for the rest of the world.
Now, please kindly exit this thread, and let the people who enjoy working/modifying on cars do their thing.

That is an ugly car. The rims and S/C are nice though:thmsup:

So, Opinions are welcome, as long as they agree with the Majority? :paranoid:
Do you work for Pelosi? :dunno::lmao:

He was referring to how you comment was not even constructive. OP said that is what he wanted to do not should he do it.

Sorry.
I thought when he stated in the original post
"or do you think its just a waste of money and time?" that opinions were welcome.
Guess I need new glasses.

I'm pretty sure that's in reference to the potential difficulty of the swap. It's like asking if I should spend $5k to put a K24 in a 90-93 Accord (which requires custom mounts, harness, axles, exhaust, etc), when a $2k H22 drops right in and only needs 4 wires added to the harness.

Actually guys I do like the modifications. I have a 94 integra that I built from scratch and now its my race car that made 525whp with gt35r turbo( did take me over a year to build)... I see it more as a hobby and love towards your car:thumbsup:
But everyone has different thoughts. I mean i bought Accord brand new and it was ment to be a daily driver and only that. I have my integra to race if I want to but my daily has to look good still but have that power youd like to feel and with a tL-s swap i think i would be happier than ever and still have my Accord.
also my car had 30 miles when i bought it in jan2006 and I already have 77615 miles. so this thread was just a thought and Id actually would like to do this someday $4k aint sh*t compared to what you would spend on a real racecar built top to bottom well over $20k at least

I would love the paddle shifters
But still would rather use my foot for cluth and hand to switch gears

I pointed him to v6p bc the majority of people here wouldn't have that kind of knowledge. I mean come on, the "biggest mod" i've seen on DA is a cold air intake :lmao:

This is another reason why I pointed him to v6p

How is it ugly? He has the OEM HFP lip kit. I think the only reason you would say it's ugly is bc of the carbon fiber hood. :dunno:

+1
It looks like someone wanted to be in Fast and Furious. :thumbsdow
AMAN1 08-11-2009, 04:18 PM If you want to do it, then by all means go ahead. for that kind of money however, you could go forced induction and make a LOT more power.
Just consider the amount of value you're getting for your money. It would be a good modification if you want to up the power of your car even more, ot the 350+ hp mark, J35A8 would be agood foundation
andrewvroom 08-11-2009, 05:59 PM heck I love the look of my accord so much that i would do the swap, plus for some people 5 -10k is pocket change for a car that would probably be lighter and faster then the TL-S

A true tuner likes challenges and what he wants to do seems a good one to me. I used to be a tuner back in the island and there is instant gratification watching the progress and the improvement of the project.

Tunning is expensive and besides a deep pocket, patience is another virtue you need...

Will love to see that....
Boba Fett 08-11-2009, 07:25 PM The coolest thing about the type S setup is to also get the steering wheel gear paddle shifters :)
I was never a fan of the flappy paddle gear boxes, but then I drove a BMW M6 and a Z4 and really enjoyed flappy paddles. But if I had to choose, I'd still go for the stick. Mainly because the flappy paddles are still lacking the manual clutch control and I like having it. And in some cars, the gear box is crap with the flappy paddles, or it won't let you shift how you want since the nanny computer says, "Now now, we mustn't get too crazy."
That said, back to the OP...sort of. Just wondering about how easy it would be to replace a 4cyl with a V6? Is it pretty much drop in, or is it one of those "car isn't built for it" sort of things?
And to the OP, ignore the nay sayers, enjoy the tinkering, and if you are able to swap the engines and decide to do it, POST PICTURES!
07AccordEx-L 08-11-2009, 10:17 PM OP, speak with Paul (NVA-AV6). He builds J-series engines. He's actually building a J33, j36 and j37. Again, v6performance.net

He has the OEM HFP lip kit. Everything is pretty subtle. Im pretty sure his car is faster than yours hm?

Like I care if it is faster than anyones and what does that have to do with my opinion of the way the car looks? :lmao:.
IMHO, it is UGLY!
:thumbsdow
BTW, I am all for "tinkering" and have no problem with anyone doing mods. To each their own.
also, for those of you having trouble following along, my ugly comment was NOT about the OP but the way "nicepeta's" car looked from ANOTHER site.
