My 02 has an OEM single CD player. Can I swap in an OEM 6-CD changer from any year 6thGen? Is it a simple plug in for my existing harness/plugs?

Yes it will go right in, beware of people selling ones with broken CD changers, it's rather common.

Thanks. Yes, that's why I'll probably stick with a high feedback ebay seller. I'm surprised they still are >$100. I would think most would want a custom system when upgrading.

The higher-level "EX" cars come with a Bose system (deck and speakers). Personnel at my local dealer informed me they are garbage, having had to replace many under warranty. It's likely a direct plug in installation, but I wouldn't care to (likely) trash my dash, especially to install that which has a significant, reported failure history. (Bose is a premium brand. How/why the Hell did they furnish Honda such junky equipment? :dunno:)

My (and possibly your) car is equipped with an AM/FM single-CD player deck. It is made by Clarion. The speakers are made by Pioneer. My dealer personnel informed me they rarely ever have a problem with them.

Loving its simplicity and (apparent) durabilty, I'm sticking with my OEM deck. But I will consider an upgrade to better door and rear shelf speakers...when replacement time arrives.

If you are looking for more music storage capacity and have a MP3 or Ipod, you can install an adaptor that plugs into the existing CD changer port on the back of most all 6th gen Accord stereos. Adaptors cost arround $50. You can then connect your MP3 and the head unit thinks its a CD changer. I have done a both my 6th gen cars and it works good.

The personnel at your dealership might be garbage because the only Accord's to ever feature BOSE audio equipment were all produced prior to 1993 as SE and SE-i models. Feel free to look into it, I work at a dealer, I know. ;)

Acura's on the other hand do have BOSE audio equipment. The TL stopped featuring BOSE audio in 2004 and it has been phased out of the Acura lineup.

I don't mean to step on your toes...as I clearly understand you are employed by a Honda dealer.

I am merely recapitulating what I was TOLD by several salesmen, mechanics, and parts department personnel. They indicated the high-end decks are furnished by Bose, that they had a lot of problems with them, frequently involving a warranty replacement.

What I DO know, for a fact, is that the deck in MY car is made by Clarion. See this...
