I find it impressive a dealer like the one you provided a link to discounts 06 models already. I applaud his integrity to not gouge the customer simply because the car just came out. I wish there were dealers like this one in my area. I understand a dealership needs to make a profit, but to gouge a customer simply because they can is unforgivable.

Well, look at it from the other side of the fence.
At the end of '07 when the new gen '08 Accord is coming, do you think anybody will pay even invoice on an '07? No of course not. Well then, they have to make it back somewhere.

There a great dealer!!! In small town okiehoma. They arent in a messy high dollar worthless city where cluesless humans run rampid. They are not part of the Tulsa advertising network so you dont get hit with that fee.
They move cars so fast they make a tad above invoice. Some on hold back and a tick on finance. They pass incetive on when it comes.
There honest. Only a 49.99 doc fee. And thats cheap for a Honda or Toyota dealer around here.
And I know there can be another 200 to 400 knocked off the prices on there site if your nice about it. The new Civics included.
They have a ton of repeat custmers. I see no need to go anywhere else. I cant wait untill all the Civics are out and they have afew Accord LX se sednas on the lot. It will once again be my turn.
Just waiting to see bounes from work next tuesday :)

I understand your point, and I agree with you. But I think dealerships who think like the way you described would retain more customers and do a greater volume if they simply offered a fair price from the start like the dealer mentioned in the opening post. Speaking for myself, if I knew and could trust a dealer always sold cars at say $500.00 over invoice regardless of the day of week or month of year, I would be their customer for life. I would have absolutely no reason to shop elsewhere unless other aspects of their service were in question. I firmly believe people respond to being treated fairly rather than jerked around over pricing.

Interesting. You can still get an accord LX (sedan or coupe) for less than a civic.
I guess Honda will be reducing the heavy discounts on the Accord line, or maybe continue selling far msrp across the line. I think the last SI was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overpriced, and they would have sold tons at $16k.
