I took my car there for an estimate today and it was $705 to do my rear bumper and remove a dent in my quater panel. Honda was gonna charge me $960 for repairs.

Does MAACO do good work. Is it worth it?

Get a third estimate at a reputable non-dealer shop. You would think they'd come in somewhere in the middle of those two numbers.

On my 02 I MIGHT save a few hundred and go with MAACO, but I don't think I'd let them near a fairly new car like yours.

they suck at preping the car..if u prep and sand the car urself and bring it to them to paint u shud b fine..theyre basiclly all about getting cars in n out as fast as possible..

I had a car painted at Maaco in the 90's becuase the original GM paint oxidized.
The paint and clearcoat were fine, but the prep wasn't.
Most of the car looked really good, but the decklid looked like they sanded it with a brick.

+1

Go to a speciality shop, not one that needed Charro to advertise for them. :lmao:

Avoid Maaco at all costs, unless your painting and then selling. actually... dont do that to the poor car either...
they quoted me $300 for a bumper once, and then i looked around at some of the cars that came out of their body shop... let's just say i promptly left.

Maaco is good if you need to have a car painted for a demolition derby and thats about it. :D

Big problem with any service is workmanship, skill, expertese, guarantee and warrantee. Asking Honda to prep, prime, paint and seal is only way to go, because of their training, skill, expertise, and Warrantee. Go Honda, regards.

You need to do some investigation and determine which local shop is in fact doing it for the dealer. Your car isn't being painted in house, there is subcontractor that does it. You may save a small amount.

When I want a great steak, I don't go to Denny's. Same applies to body shops, or anywhere else for that matter. Macco is great for the faded beater that needs a 10 foot paint job, when it looks good from 10 feet away.

I've had them quickly just spray a bumper and fender back years ago and wasn't impressed at all... I wasn't looking for quality though, just price.

Your biggest comparison is you are comparing maaco (cheap) vs dealer (expensive). Why don't you try some independent body shops in your area? Dealerships are always going to be high and I don't see a reason to go there for paint unless you really depend on them giving you a loaner...
