View Full Version : Low Offset Wheels
SteezusChrist 08-24-2009, 04:02 PM Hey everyone. I'm wondering if anyone has run a wider wheel such as 9.5 with an offset of +15 or +23 give or take a few specs. if i were to run this wheel size what kinds of problems could i run into with stock height, or with a drop? thanks for responses
EvolNtent 08-24-2009, 04:19 PM They would stick out and look terrible. Also fender could/would hit top of tire.
BillyR06 08-24-2009, 04:29 PM what about 8.5 with a +22 offset ?

starbai 08-24-2009, 04:37 PM 9.5 with a +15 offset in the rear of a coupe would be absolutely perfectly flush with the body.
in the front it would definitly stick out.
9.5 with like a +35 or a +40 offset in the front would be flush with the body. anything lower would stick out.
these would also need the fenders to be rolled just a little bit. not flared just rolled. would be freakin perfect.
SteezusChrist 08-24-2009, 06:44 PM hmm so 18x8.5 with a +30 offset would look good all around? also if you look at pictures of this TL, he is running 17x9.5 +15 all around, yet in the front he isnt poking out much. are the wheels on a TL that different than from our accord's? http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=735481&page=3

yes of course its different. the body of the car fits over the wheels completely differently.
for example 20's on a 3rd gen TL is too large. where as 20's on the accord look just about right. not too large or small.
Anyway to answer your question using: http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp
Speaking about the widths:
They will fit almost perfectly flush up front.
In the rear they will sit about 1 inch in.... they will look like my car here in the rear:

now lastly those pics are with the stock wheels--- 18x8....
They're too small to spend money on in my opinion.
20's are the way to go.. if you're going to spend money on this in my opinion.
You want the same all around but flush?
20x9's --- +30 offset up front
20x9's --- +15 offset in back
235/35-20 all around
perfectly flush ever so slight stretch of the tire lookin flyyy
perfectly flush.
2o2accord 08-24-2009, 07:26 PM Starbai...you think a 20x10 offset +20 would fit in the rear of our coupe?
SteezusChrist 08-24-2009, 07:28 PM i see. thanks for your help starbai. the reason i ask is because the particular wheels i want have different concavity if you get different offsets.

so post what you're looking for in 20's and i'll help you out.
starbai 08-24-2009, 07:33 PM Starbai...you think a 20x10 offset +20 would fit in the rear of our coupe?
that should still be okay... do a 245/35-20 would be super streched and would look sickk in my opinion
even 255/30-20 which would be ideal to keep stock aspect ratios would still fit just fine... you may have to roll the fender justtt a little bit not enough to be a big deal.
SteezusChrist 08-24-2009, 07:38 PM these are the wheels, the same wheels that are pictured in that thread on acurazine. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/wheels/mb_wheels/product/byName.do?tmn=Battle&typ=Car%2FMinivan they don't come in 20.
starbai 08-24-2009, 07:49 PM unless you're literally going to slam this car to the ground dont expec tthe same look as what on the TL. even if you do SLAM it it wont achieve the same effect. you need at least 19's i would say to get the over all look he has.
The 18 is a pretty decent size rim for that car.
18's on the accord look small as hell.
I'm assuming that guy is running like 35 series tires on that car.
To do that and get the same profile with the 18's on the accord would make the whole overall package of the wheel too small... your speedometer would likely be pretty off.
up to you ultimately but i wouldn't spend my money on those.
if you like the concave look... perhaps some PRORACER ZR+520 made by 5Zigen would be more up your alley... you could do a set of 19's and slam the bitch.
19x8 +37 up front
19x10 +20 out back would be pretty flush but not stick out pass the fender the way they did on the TL.
BillyR06 08-25-2009, 07:11 AM I'm not really too good with wheels and since starbai knows what's he's talking about maybe he can help me out
starbai, how would a 19" 8.5 with +22 offset fit? (I'm looking at volks racing time attacks)
el Vato 08-25-2009, 07:59 AM Starbai, I don't know if the front sizes you are providing will really fit. The most aggressive size I've seen in front has been 8.5" with 35 offset. Anything wider and lower offset, IMO, will rub and poke out. The 8.5" width and 35 offset will bring the wheel and tire right to the fender edge in front. However, if you have pics of 8th gens running your sizes, I'd like to see how wide the car could look with the stretched out design.
starbai 08-25-2009, 09:53 AM el vato:
right now i've got the oem 18x8's on. Stock they are +55 offset. They also have on right now a 15mm spacer. see my pics above.
That will make my overall package up front 18x8 +40 w/235-45-18's
Right now theres approx .5 inches right between being perfectly flush, and where its currently at.
Thats equivalent to: 12.7mm.... lets round it down to 12mm
So what that means to me is 18x8 +28 would be absolutely to the utmost edge of the lip of that fender, with 235/45-18... I mean if you took a ruler and went straight down the body of the car from top to bottom you' be right up against the face of the wheel.
So with that as a base to start from, use this calculator: http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp
to see how much further in and or out you wanna go.
What I provided you should be perfectly flush, it should require a little fender rolling but will look absolutely sick if you're looking for that hellaflush look.
BillyR05--- that should be more than fine in the back, but up front they will stick out about 5mm... its do able if you stretch the hell outta the tire (do at your own risk) and some finessing that fender with some rolling/stretching.
Also both of you, this is whats up for Coupes.... I dont know how this would translate for Sedan owners.
BillyR06 08-25-2009, 11:51 AM Thanks starbai! Looks like I have to purchase other wheels
el Vato 08-25-2009, 05:25 PM Thanks for clarifying that Starbai. Your technical answer really helped me understand your measurements. I will be mounting the wheels in my sig onto my sedan this week, finally! I've had my wheels for over a year and had not bought tires because I thought the offset was too aggressive.

before you pull that trigger.
my calulations were based on the coupe.
The sedan maybe different.
Also before buying the tires, you can easily put the wheels on the car without tires just obviously dont lower the car on the rim with no tires. but you can still eyeball it to get a good idea.
el Vato 08-25-2009, 07:50 PM I've been viewing all the sedans and coupes on this forum for more than a year that have been getting new wheels. There's a black sedan with 20x8.5 et35 and 245/35/20 tires. He's lowered on Eibach's and says he rubs in front only every so often on the freeway at those speeds. I'm going with 235/35/19 tires to give me 5mm clearance, which basically brings my offset to 40, IMO. Also, I have Ground Control coilovers so if I rub I can raise it in small increments until I find a good medium.
joenguyen 08-25-2009, 08:05 PM im reading, and i feel stupid for not understanding shit. Im reading offset of 22, 37 offset and have no idea what that mean. I was just wondering if the wheels im about to buy will look right with the all around looks.

el Vato 08-25-2009, 08:14 PM They should easily fit. I did a search for "tenzo" and found quite a few threads. Here's one:

What do yall think?
starbai 08-26-2009, 08:38 AM very nice actually. i like.
Sizes though aren't ideal FOR ME.
They'll fit on the car perfectly though.
Personally I want it more aggressive, more flush with the body.
The sizes/offsets are kind of conservative.
Do they offer that wheel any wider than 9.5?
joenguyen 08-27-2009, 06:45 AM no 9.5 is the biggest.
