View Full Version : TrendGear Aftermarket Fogs 2dr Coupe *PICS*
09TWCoupe 08-26-2009, 03:49 PM 2009 Honda Accord Coupe lx-s
Low Beam: retro-solution digital brand 6000k
Fogs: retro-solution digital brand 3000k
Trendgear "OEM" yellow fogs
Lightwerkz custom harness
Just got my TrendGear fogs for the 8th gen coupe, its pretty solid actually and the cover lens is glass. The kit comes with switch, wiring harness with relay, H11 55w light bulbs, and a shroud that would fit two push button switches.
It didn't come with instructions so I have a question. Does anyone know where the red wire is suppose to be hooked up to? Same goes for that white wire, where does the white wire hook up to?
I will be hooking these up once my retro solution digital brand HID 3000K comes in. Most likely within the next two weeks here.

Just want to say thanks to Todd @ retro-solution for dealing with my 6000k bulb situation and Caesar over @ lightwerkz for getting a new harness made for the aftermarket fog lights.
bruceleroy 08-26-2009, 04:15 PM well the brown one looks like the one to connect into the factory harness, not sure about the other one. How come it didnt have instructions id be pissed?
well look up my DIY for my fog light installation maybe it will help you

I don't believe i have a factory harness for my fogs, my Accord is a Lx-s
bruceleroy 08-26-2009, 04:22 PM yup you don't so that means you would need to tap into the power and ground yourself
09TWCoupe 08-26-2009, 04:29 PM So then the white wire is hooked up directly to the battery? So then where does the red wire hook up to?
bruceleroy 08-26-2009, 05:35 PM no idea on the OEM system we only had to worry about the brown one and that connected right into the harness and done
09TWCoupe 08-26-2009, 05:54 PM I was reading this post http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=33322 looks like the white wire does connect to the battery, and my only guess is that the red wire would be tapped into ignition, accessory fuse, or tapped into DRL system? I just want to make sure that white wire--->battery and red wire--->ignition/accessory fuse tap.
I should of bought an Ex....
morcheez 08-26-2009, 06:10 PM my red wire is tapped into the where the drl fuse should be which i dont use anyways since i took out the fuse
andrewd523 08-26-2009, 06:20 PM Can you please post pics when you have them installed? I would really like to see how the yellow looks with the car. Thanks

Do you also have the TrendGear Aftermarket kit for 08+ Accord coupe as well? I'm still trying to figure out if i have enough wiring to run the switch into the cabin next to the vsa button.

unfortunately no ...but mine didnt come with instructions either...guess thats why they tell u to have it professionally installed to save thier asses ...but if they gave u the switch then the wires for it should reach to the cabin ...if not then that would be plain stupid

Yeah, But you do have the wiring harness that looks similar, relay is a YLE YL-388-S 12v/30amp?
And also the guy who did this install http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=33322 said his wires werent nearly long enough to reach the cabin?
rwlib3 08-27-2009, 08:31 AM Correct, the harness was probably 2 feet short of making it to the dash. I just tapped into the parking lights for the turn on from the relay. I suppose you could add the additional wiring to get the button in, but it wasn't worth the hassle for me. Works great off of the parking lights.

I see, that's what I'm planning on doing is getting additional wire to extend into the cabin to the switch. So was that red wire with the Grey connector cap the one you used to tap into your parking lights? If that red wire is for fuse tap then I'm going to tap into the accessory fuse which is located in the driver side fuse panel, I think its number 17 or 18??

No, the red wire from the relay I believe. I'll have to take a look this evening to be 100% sure. (though that may be the same wire) :dunno:
09TWCoupe 08-27-2009, 09:24 PM Yes please let me know so I can successfully install these soon, better safe the 1st time then screwing up something right.

Did you by chance take a look rwlib3? This would be very helpful for my install some time next week or whenever I get my 3000k HID kit and a new set of 6000k HID's bulbs from retrosolutions.
rwlib3 08-29-2009, 07:43 AM Sorry for the delay... I believe I completely removed the red wire with the gray connector. Here is exactly how I have it wired.

dvfastcar 08-29-2009, 07:44 AM put ur pic up when your done i wana c what it looks like
09TWCoupe 09-02-2009, 02:55 PM rwlib3 i followed your diagram there, today i had a day off of work and school so i decide to install my fog lights. First off I hooked everything up and had enough wires to run through the firewall, pressed the switch...nothing comes on. Looked at it and tried to configure a few things and no luck, went back to your DIY thread you had a while back. Tried again to hook it up to the parking light, turned it on and got a buzzard sound from the relay but still no lights. I did check the h11 bulbs that were provided and they worked, now im really disappointed with the quality of the harness that was provided. My next step is to contact Caesar from light werks and see if he can make a customized fog light harness. As for right now the lights are in the bumper but they dont work...
Signal9 09-02-2009, 03:10 PM You're relay is wired wrong if your hearing a buzzing sound or a poor ground.
You guys really need to post the pin # of the relay and what wire its going to instead of relying on someone elses color coded diagram which may not be the same for you.
Here's an example of what I mean.
You would tie 85 to your low beam so it will turn on with the headlights.
You can use a variation of this and route it to switch as shown
http://www.classictruckshop.com/clubs/earlyburbs/projects/bosch/foglite.jpg
rwlib3 09-02-2009, 04:18 PM The relay is pre-wired from TrendGear so unless they wired it wrong, there should be no issues. :)
09TWCoupe 09-02-2009, 05:41 PM Yea that could be, I know I had every connection right, 2 black ground wire, 1 white wire --> battery, 1 yellow wire to driver side parking red wire. Well im about to get a harness custom made from light werks so that my fogs can be independent.
09TWCoupe 09-16-2009, 07:39 PM put ur pic up when your done i wana c what it looks like

boyshort 09-17-2009, 02:19 PM nice, nice, nice....
You have my ideal setup. Looks really nice.
AznX TL 09-17-2009, 07:59 PM do you have any pics of them in the daylight off?
09TWCoupe 09-17-2009, 08:42 PM nice they r very bright yellow. did u adjust the fogs and lower them like i did? how do they look when ur driving
No I haven't adjusted them yet, they seem to be at the proper level. I can see some yellow light in front when im driving, but as im at a stop light next to cars i can see the yellow light reflecting off body panels. I can get some pics tomorrow once i get my camera charged.
09TWCoupe 09-17-2009, 08:47 PM looks really good, how much did this run you?
Lets See:
Digital 3000K HID: $161.00
Trend Gear "OEM" Yellow Fogs: $145.00
Light Werkz Custom Harness: $75.00
Blue LED rocker switch: $5.00
Misc Parts/Tools: $15.00
Total: $401.00
*I know its kinda pricey, but I think I got some pretty good quality stuff. Loved my results, and I'm happy with them.
09TWCoupe 09-17-2009, 08:48 PM do you have any pics of them in the daylight off?
I can take some pics for you tomorrow, after my camera is charged up.
GTFan712 09-24-2009, 07:56 PM Is the "yellow" just a cover? I love how yellow these look, but I'm doubting that you could get that look with HIDs or a bulb change.
I want to get the OEM fogs from CHH, as I'm not a big fan of buying eBay products, but I don't think there's any other way to get this color yellow.

The lens is glass and it is yellow tinted, housed inside the fog lamps are a pair of 3000k HID from retro-solution their "Digital" brand.
Actually the ebay ones are pretty good quality, lens is glass, comes in either yellow or clear lens, and not as expensive as CHH.
The only bad thing about this kit is the wiring harness, another member on here got the same kit from the same seller but his wire harness turned out okay. For me on the other hand the wiring harness that came with it didnt work, there fore I had to contact lightwerkz to make me a $75.00 custom harness, way better quality harness then ebay one.

You could get a yellow vinyl film and overlay it on the fog light glass before installing. It would also help protect against rock chips if using a protectant film like Lamin-X.
http://www.lamin-x.com/One-Universal-4x8-Fog-Cover-p/1-48.htm
This would be a good option if you want your lenses yellow.

Thank you so much, man. I spent forever looking for something like this the other night, and eventually I just gave up and went to bed.
This is probably what I'll do then. I like CHH's kit because they have a working harness as well as the switch on the steering column, rather than in the VSA switch housing.

nghanzo 09-26-2009, 02:51 AM I ran into some problem with the wire (gray connector) and I am also using the switch. I know that the white wire runs to the battery but an anyone tell me exactly which wire the red wire taps into bc I am using a switch? Thanks.
A&Fbro28 09-26-2009, 06:30 AM Thank you so much for buying these. I was wondering how they'd look. I'll be buying this kit as well now. Well done bro.
nghanzo 09-26-2009, 12:29 PM okay well got it all figured out after couple of hours hacking the bumper and wiring extension.....

zexen 09-26-2009, 03:47 PM Looks good, nghanzo! The black fog light bezels for the I4 don't look so bad on the TW.
CaMole 09-26-2009, 05:11 PM Wow these look really functional. The yellow seems a little too yellow for me but looks great overall. Seems like you'll have clearer vision on rainy days. Nice upgrade!

Yeah that harness is really confusing with that grey connector, what did you all do to get the switch working? I tried for ever to get it to work but it just wouldn't so i had to get a custom harness made. looks good btw

I don't think that harness will work because both sedan and coupe LX trims don't have the brown connector inside the car for it. I followed some steps from this guy:

Thanks, I just wired the yellow wire to the one of the red power from the relay and the other white one from the fuse to one of the power from the DRL or parking light power, might be different for coupes? Not sure. A lot of wire extensions thought just for the switch... I would not recommend it

That's good to know that a few of us did have problems with the harness. So just to clear things up the ebay trendgear foglight kit is not straight plug and play

No it is not, installed mine yesterday, took some time to find where to splice the yellow to the red wire, turns out behind the left headlight housing, i believe its the turn signal bulb, strip the black tape and such and you will see a red, black, and blue wires. Splice with the red and tape it all back up, and as for the white thats connected thru the fuse and has the connecter on the end, just pull it off and you can either put a wire connecter on it and attch it to the battery terminal, or just strip it and connect it the way it is, pretty easy.
All in all, a very good addition to an LX-S
EBONY 09 11-14-2009, 07:35 AM Good to know should be getting my kit from trendgear on tuesday. will post pics when installed
