okay so i was driving the other day and all of the sudden it seemed as though it had popped out of 1st gear. as i put it back in to 1st it still wouldnt move. nor in any other gear. i got out and looked and my cv axle broke. no biggy i knew it was bad so i replaced it today.... BUT when i put it into first or any other gear it still doesnt go anywhere. so i get out and look again with it in reverse (keep in mind it still doesnt move) and the car running and it looks as though that the axle isnt in all the way and it just kinda jumbles around rattling kinda inside the transmission where the transmission end of the axle goes into.

could somehow the splines INSIDE the transmission be stripped? any ideas or ANYTHING is GREATLY appreciated becasue i need this car up and going by this friday. the day after tommorrrow!
thanks a ton!!

Short answer is yes. You could have stripped them. Did you not look at them b4 swapping the new axle?

Or you can always take it back out and get a flash light and look inside the transaxle hole to see what condition the splines are in.
