View Full Version : Mirrored tint?
robbery 09-15-2009, 09:14 PM Has anyone here put a mirror tinting job on their 8th gen? I like the idea of extra heat reflection and extra privacy, but I got to thinking that all that shiny surface might detract from the beauty of the chrome window trim. So what's the word? Any experience? Pictures? Opinions? Thanks!
mi08coupe 09-15-2009, 09:38 PM Check out your local tint laws. I believe mirrored tint is illegal in many places now as a safety hazard, as you can blind or distract other drivers. Besides, unless you're rolling in a shagadelic 70's era van, :beatnik: its reeallly tacky. :thumbsdow

I'm fairly certain its illegal but if you insist, I ask that you install them on an Accord Crosstour since that travesty of a vehicle can't look any worse.
zexen 09-15-2009, 10:48 PM I think mirrored tint looks retarded, and that's saying a lot when we sell the stuff to a couple of owners. I'll tell you this. Mirrored tint is the only tint we've ever had someone come back in 2 months and tell us to get rid of it and replace it with normal high quality tint at whatever cost it would take. Tint removal + re-tint ran about $400. This was on top of the $220 he already paid to have the car tinted the first time.
Our cars won't look good with mirrored tint. I personally don't think ANY cars look good with mirrored tint.

Danielc409 09-16-2009, 03:28 AM Lol spinners .. oh how crap those are. I like when 1 doesn't spin, other ones spin at various speeds.
And mirrored tint is legal in some states with limitations like regular tint, I think if this is what they mean by "luminous reflectance".
This is Texas:
What are the actual state driving laws for after-market window tinting?
Passenger Cars
Windshield
Glass coating or sunscreening devices
* Cannot extend downward beyond the AS-1 line; or
* Cannot extend more than 5 inches from the top of the windshield without an AS-1 line.
o If sunscreening devices are used above the AS-1 area of the windshield, the light transmittance value must be 25% or more;
o The luminous reflectance of any additional sunscreening devices used must be 25% or less;
o Sunscreening device cannot be red, blue or amber in color.
Side Windows
All side windows must have at least 25% light transmittance and luminous reflectance of 25% or less, over the entire surface area of the window.
*Rear (back) Window
* If vehicle has left and right outside mirrors, there is no minimum light transmission requirement.
* If not equipped with both outside mirrors, the rear window must have no less than 25% light transmittance and a luminous reflectance of 25% or less.
* The manufacturers installed glazing shade band is excluded.

personally i think rain guards are pretty bad too. i guess the only thing they have up on mirrored tints is that you can smoke in the rain, and i dont smoke.
