Hey,

Just had my rear brakes replaced on my 08 Coupe EX-L V6 only after 28,500 miles. Just curious to see when other Coupe owners needed to have rear brakes replaced. 28,500 seems a little early to me. The tech at the dealership said they have seem rear brakes needing replaced between 25,000 - 35,000.

The front brakes are still in good condition.

BTW...it cost $185 to have just the rear brakes replaced (rotors were fine) at the Honda dealership......hhhhmmmm :paranoid:

Funny thing that once I submitted my post, I was taken to a screen from a law firm advocating they were looking into premature rear brake wear on 08 & 09 Accords. Felt like a scam, however working from the assumption this site would filter out scams...so I provided my SPAM email address as I was curious to see what they had to offer

Just changed mine at 14.5k they looked brand new but had a squeak, $59.99 at Autozone with life time warranty. It was an easy swap. Also a lot more quiet and a lot less dust.

23,000 miles here and brake sounds....
I'm going to replace the rear pads myself. The only kicker is that I can't find a repair manual. Brakes are easy to work on....this car is different than what I am experienced with.

I just discovered that the TSX's are having the same brake problems as the Accord. I'll probably have to deal with that issue in 10,000 miles.

This is a common issue with the 8th Gen Accord's. You'll find a lot of threads about it if you search for anything really about brakes on the forum.

It sounds like you got a better deal than some other people. Some were being charged well over $200 to have their rear brakes done.

The reason why the brakes are wearing out quicker is because of the EBD system. It tries to keep your car from nose-diving when you're braking, therefore requiring more braking power in the rear to keep the car level.

This is easy, If your experienced with other back brakes all you have to do is turn the piston clockwise to back it in , instead of compressing it in with a C-clamp. If I remember it correctly you need a 14mm socket and a 17mm box wrench to remove the caliper

I was trying to figure out what size the 14mm was because my set that I keep in the car jumps from 12mm to 17mm. I wasn't at home at the time.

Now, that I know that it's 14mm it will make life easier.

30K is perfectly normal. Those with 10 or 15K definitely sound premature, but the question is why some 10K and some 30K. Could be some people are pretty hard with the brakes. Can't wait to see what I get. Good day.

All these story about brakes concerns me. Formerly I drove a BMW 330i, which had pads replaced at 30,000 miles on rear. At time of my sale there was 44,000 mi on front pads with 7mm, and did not require replacement until 4mm. It should reach 60,000 on front pads before replacement. I just do not understand why Honda Pads are wearing out prematurely. Perhaps some are using wheel cleaning compounds which can certainly harm pads and cause premature wear. These cars run $22,000 - $30,000 and should have sufficient brake pads. Regards

Richard

i just checked there site and it says limited warranty, so hows does the life time warranty work? when ur pads are gone you just walk into the store and they will replace it for you?

I have Duralast Rear Pads, and now front too, Lifetime warranty; Yes, when they wear out, you can replace them for free; IF THEY WEAR EVENLY (Uneven Brake Wear, and they wont do it, unless the guy is cool and does it anyway, which i got :naughty:)
