peanut butter sandwiches...

In this time of financial woes.... what do YOU put on your peanut butter sandwich?

My prince loves sweet pickle cut on his. He usually has jelly though.
I prefer thick cold chocolate hot fudge sauce on mine. I don't like peanut butter much, so if there's about an inch of jelly....I can handle it.:D

Yikes, but hey, whatever keeps the prince happy, right?

I volunteered last Sat at the park concession stand where my son plays t-ball. A kid walked up and asked for a frozen pickle juice. I figured he had to be kidding, but he wasn't. They actually sell a LOT of them.

Oh for sure! The girls at work look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them what it is.

If it's just a PB & J, I use three pieces of bread.

Lately I've been doing peanut butter, banana and nutella on toast.

I very much prefer crunchy.

I prefer Jiff.

I gotta go back to white-bread, but no one else in the household eats white-bread. PB-&-J on wheat-grain bread just isn't the same.

Didn't The King (namely, Elvis) have his PB-&-J's deep-fried???

PB also is a great additive to chick-peas/garbanzo-beans when making hummus dip/spread. Very nutritious & tasty, just eat it w/ some crackers, pita-bread, or flour tortilla's.

Actually, it was peanut butter and bananas, or, as he called them, "nanners."

He preferred Wonder Bread, creamy PB, and mooshed up nanners (apparently The King wasn't fond of chewing), with the whole assemblage fried in butter. Supposedly would have Room Service make 'em at 4 am and such.

I am not some Elvis groupie; it's some OTJ knowledge I've picked up.

reframmellator... your insights & knowledge never fail to impress me, regardless of the topic. Not just that, but the way you clearly/lucidly convey it w/ respect & regards to others.

With that said, I believe I'm gonna have to pass on The King's gourmet sammiches, lolz... ha!

I think I'm gonna check-out the bread aisle at my grocery-store & perhaps even a local bakery, I want to try a French beignet type of bread w/ some peanut-butter & grape-jelly! Talk about ol' school decadence... :naughty:

FWIW, the Polaner and Smuckers no-sugar added jams and preserves (with Splenda (R) sucralose) make an astonishingly great PB&J with 1/3 less guilt.

PB and apples(winesap or granny smith) on toasted whole wheat.

If I don't have apples then apple butter fills the need.

I enjoy just plain PB on wheat bread.

PB goes with so many things. We have it with raw carrots, celery, granola, choc chips, bananas and ice cream.

As a kid I only had the natural stuff you have to stir every time.

Well, don't be a hypocrite now. If you're going to go out of your way to point out the mistakes of somebody else's grammatical errors, it's only fair you use correct grammar as well. So, that being said, you should at least consider your omission of spaces before and after your ellipses.

Skalipaloo,

The peanut butter & pickles thing is all over my prince's family. He's passed it on to some of our kids & grand kids. I find it yucky to even see.

I've never been a peanut butter fan.... so it's used to hold the jelly/jam/preserves on the bread....fudge too. Of course, all jellies/jams/preserves are sugar free. The bread is even the Sara Lee 1 gm of sugar kind. Usually wheat. The whole wheat one has a honey flavor, which is OK...just doesn't go with everything.:)

I would barely touch the stuff as a kid....it was on the icky stuff list for me.
