A week or so ago I went to get an oil change at local Honda dealer...
D&C --Tenafly NJ....Before they drove the car an employee went to
my car and snapped about 6 pix. They never did this before, I assume it is
to have a record of the car's condition,in case an owner makes a claim
that the dealer damaged the car.

Smart move by them, my work does the same thing. Chances are they have been burnt before to go to those lengths. I have never seen that done before as a Honda dealer. High end brands yes, Honda no.

A few yrs ago the Honda dealer did a similiar thing with me. They notated on the service order any cosmetic imperfections with the car.

I'm pretty sure you can't change the "properties" of the file(s) which shows the date/time. So all you would have to do is look at those properties, given that they have the date and time set.

morcheez and dangerous are both right -- they could re-take pics, so take your own precautions and take pics of your own at the same angles

people use newspapers as a good reference of pictures. you cant fake a date on those things.
unless you're good at photoshop.

Date is one thing. Time stamp is another. If the job was done in one day, the date won't matter. Example: Take picture before entering car, scratch door on lift, take another pic showing damage and claim it was already there. If newspaper was used by them in both pics, they would be the same.
Now if you took pics at the same time as they did and get a shot or two with them in it, then you would have something to back your claims.
