View Full Version : Wtf!
calvinc619 10-08-2009, 07:28 PM So, i was making a right turn with a stop sign. the car in front of me turned and then i pulled up to the line. i stopped and then proceeded to go, as i pulled up to turn i saw a african american couple with a stroller trying to cross rapidly with out stopping at the curb! so i waved sorry, and then as i was turning slowly the guy punches my car WTF! I would've stopped if i saw them but i already started turning when i saw them. :screwy: THis guy is crazy! :thumbsdow yeah i also saw him punch the parking sign before when he was mad! im 99% sure its the same guy.
Anyway to fix this myself? How much do think it would run? ( sorry for the bad pics!)

YRMed 10-08-2009, 07:31 PM Thats one strong dude! Was it Kimbo Slice? Maybe you can pop it out, if not, rear quarter panel is gonna cost ya.
nighthawkcoupe 10-08-2009, 07:32 PM Was it necessary to identify the race of the guy that punched you car?
YRMed 10-08-2009, 07:34 PM Was it necessary to identify the race of the guy that punched you car?
Probably not, but now we know that the OP is a bit of a racist. Just a lil'.
Furple 10-08-2009, 07:35 PM Dude must hang out with these guys.

He must be racist, hitting a white guys white car like that. tsk tsk
calvinc619 10-08-2009, 07:40 PM Was it necessary to identify the race of the guy that punched you car?
sorry if i offended you. But im just putting details of the incident and you never know someone might ask!
Mochimellow 10-08-2009, 07:40 PM Hahahaha... This is horrible. At least he hit your car and not you. Facial reconstructive surgery would be more expensive than this fix.
calvinc619 10-08-2009, 07:42 PM Thats one strong dude! Was it Kimbo Slice? Maybe you can pop it out, if not, rear quarter panel is gonna cost ya.
Anyone know how to take off those black screws or whatever there called in the trunk side panel
calvinc619 10-08-2009, 07:48 PM Hahahaha... This is horrible. At least he hit your car and not you. Facial reconstructive surgery would be more expensive than this fix.
true. as i went to look at it i wasnt expecting a huge fist dent! You should see it in real life you can see the thumb part too...
YRMed 10-08-2009, 07:48 PM with a flat head screw driver if they are plastic clips. If they are plastic screws, try a phillips head screwdriver. Do not do it yourself if you don't know what you are doing. You could push it out too much and then you'll really mess it up.
nitishb19 10-08-2009, 07:51 PM Try hammering it out old school lmao ;) jp
take it in to a body shop and have them tell you what you can do to fix it. It wont cost you just to ask for help...
ElectricFuzz 10-08-2009, 07:55 PM I would've stopped if i saw them but i already started turning when i saw them.
That doesn't sound like a legitimate reason to not stop. Sure there wasn't some other reason?
SHOWCARMRYUK 10-08-2009, 07:57 PM Wow, I would have ****ed a dude up if he hit my car.

no i stopped at the line and then looked left front right and then left to look at the cars. when i looked right i didnt see them. so i guess they were walking fast with there stroller. and this is a big commercial st. and i even waved sorry not like i did it on purpose!
Aviography 10-08-2009, 08:06 PM Look up Paintless Dent Removal, a good PDR technician can take that out without any body filler or painting etc., might cost you a couple of bills.

yeah i would have too but this guy is beast. :thumbsdow unless our cars have a weak shell?
calvinc619 10-08-2009, 08:12 PM You didn't hear/feel it when he punched your car?
i heard/ saw him punch my car when i was completing turning. I had a flat tire so i was turning slow...

dam a couple of bills? :(
Kiribati 10-08-2009, 08:18 PM Should've stopped and called the authorities right then and there. I don't understand why you just shrugged it off and drove away, only to worry about it when you got home. It shouldn't matter if you turned in front of the pedestrians, this isn't an auto accident. He freakin punched your car man!
Furple 10-08-2009, 08:19 PM dam a couple of bills? :(
What did you expect? I think it's standard for basically any car repair to start at like $200 these days. I would try to slowly bang it out but like the other guy said don't go to far. If it doesn't look like it will come out good then get professional help.

yeah i stopped to look at it and he continued to walk. Plus my parents own a restaurant there so i am always there, and didnt want any trouble later on for me or them

See, that sounds more like the reason why there wasn't any confrontation.

ry05coupe 10-08-2009, 08:31 PM I would have done the exact same thing as you tbh. It's easy for everyone here to say they would have beat him up or whatever, but if he was able to do that :| just drive on.

DirtyByrd13 10-08-2009, 08:42 PM Seriously though, I would have at least called the cops in your situation. Me though? I would have started cussing him out, and when he tried to get in my car and attack me I would have shot him right between the eyes. The "Castle Doctrine" is by-far the coolest thing about living in Texas
:deal:
rawz1313 10-08-2009, 08:44 PM Already have had to get body work done twice. Going to the dealer will run you $500-$800 as they will probably opt to repaint the panels after massaging out the dents. That's just from my experience. Good luck!

well the cops in sd are lousy. they come like 1 hr after u call them unless there is a big emergency. He would of been gone when they came. i had too many experiences where they come 1 hr late and just wrote a little report and the criminals are long gone... sometimes they dont even come..

hey calvin ur you San Diego? i noticed you are most likely in the 619 area code from your screen name.. where did this happen? I am in the 858 area up by Rancho PQ :) wherever that happened i'll be sure to avoid it
MySilver_08 10-08-2009, 09:14 PM I would have punched it too, can't stand people that seem anti-"brutha"!:paranoid:

Is a human life worth so little these days? To shoot a man in front of his own child over a car dent?
andysinnh 10-09-2009, 04:35 AM Ok -one quick warning from the moderator panel - let's leave the racist/b*tching stuff out of the remainder of the thread, otherwise it'll get closed down - and this goes for the OP and others.
The point of the thread is how to fix the problem - and the answer is Paintless Dent Removal, as a couple of others have said. Look around at a place where local business guys leave their business cards on a bulletin board or something. These PDR guys typically work for a company (Dent Wizards, etc) and charge a certain rate for their labor that can run into a couple hundred bucks. But these guys also moonlight and you can save some definite cash if you arrange to have them do it on their own time. I know that on the Civic I sold a few years ago, I had about 15 random dents on the car and the guy charged me $80 for everything, under the table. So that's a way to save money. Avoid going directly to the dealer, because then you get the dealer add-on to the already inflated cost...
But DON'T TRY TO FIX IT YOURSELF FIRST! Many times an attempt to "bang it out" can make it worse - and crease the paint/metal. The PDR guys like a "virgin" dent to work on. But I agree that it can be fixed with this process, based on what I've seen done in the past.

honeygee2 10-09-2009, 06:52 AM check out youtube for dent removal videos...you might luck out.
CYANiDE 10-09-2009, 07:12 AM Hurts to see that. Just head over to a body shop and have them give you a free estimate.
starbai 10-09-2009, 07:26 AM Is a human life worth so little these days? To shoot a man in front of his own child over a car dent?
all racial crap aside. i dont care if the guy was blue and the OP was pink.
its not over a just a car dent--- just a car dent = an accident.
this guy intentionally damaged someone's shit for no justified reason. who the hell crosses the street without stopping at the curb to look both ways? ESPECIALLY with a baby?? assuming the OP is being 100% truthful, what the guy did was not an accident, he's the aggressor FOR NO JUSTIFIED reason... shoulda ran his ass over and claimed self defense :furious:
native.texan 10-09-2009, 07:40 AM If, as you note, this individual who - regardless of race, was predisposed to hitting things as you previously witnessed him strike a stop sign, I would have stopped and let them (baby and all) go around the car.
Still, what's done is done, and as others suggested, should go and get a free estimate. I would not expect it to be that cheap by the fact it is the rear quarter panel.
Good luck with the repairs.
mike.

chaqui74 10-09-2009, 07:58 AM Sorry but i know for a fact that the reason u didn't stop it was that u got scared so u just drove off :paranoid:. should've stop on the spot
ur probably a lover not a fighter . lol

You talkin' about ones where they apply heat then spray the area with the upside down compressed air cans with the super-cooled propellant? What you don't see on those videos is the risk of paint damage that could occur with that level of temp changes. Not sure I'd wanna go that route on a car that's only a year or two old.
PDR will solve the problem - those guys are magicians!
andy
jkcheng122 10-09-2009, 09:51 AM Should have taken a picture of the guy and reported to police. There are laws in place to protect us from bullies like this and shouldn't have let him get away with it.

Andy ..in alot of cases thats exaxtly what the PDR do...they just dont tell you. If the OP does that and screws it up big deal ..it has to be fixed either way and thats a cheap way to try and get the dent out.
calvinc619 10-09-2009, 06:01 PM Ok got some estimates today. A PDR guy asked for $250 and he said that he would try his best to get it out and flatten it out as much as possible since its right on the body lines and he told me it wouldnt come out the same. Then I went to a body shop that said they would slowly tap it out for $150 but he said if the paint cracks while he's doing it would run about $450 total and that includes 1 pint of clear 1 pint of pearl white and he would have to reclear the whole panel. And i would also get the remaining paint after hes done. and he would fix a little scrape. ANother body shop/ PDR i went to estimated me at $550. :thumbsdow
suckiteasy 10-09-2009, 06:17 PM Ouch ; I wouldn't let him slide off easy .. I don't care if you were Bill Gates ! Okay maybe I lied but shit , that was totally wrong & un-call for !
And good luck with the fix ; I would go check wal mart for the dent remover stuff ..

If a PDR guy uses that method, I'd stay far away. I don't know about you, but any reputable PDR guy wants you to watch him do his magic - at least those around here do. Guess I'm just used to reputable folks here in the NH area.....

HondaCoupe 10-09-2009, 10:10 PM hey calvin message me.. i know a guy who might be able to help.. he fixed my bumper and it looks PERFECT.. cant even tell ..looks brand new..
he is in Clairemont Mesa area called All American Paint and Body.. its right by the Toyota Dealer.. they do great work!! their shop is high tech and you can watch all the guys working on different cars thru a glass window..
PMCErnie 10-10-2009, 05:09 AM I'm just wondering why you didn't call 911?

WRONG!
That's not PDR, it may have its' place when the dent is too severe, but you will have an uncontrolled result, which may then require more drastic repair.
As a minimum you may end up damaging the adhesion of the paint to the body panel.
DO NOT DO IT.
PDR involves strictly with manually massaging the dent out from underneath using a variety of tools shaped for the particular type/shape of dents.
I've watched these guys work a number of times on my own cars, two of my friends do this for a living, one had a training school set up to teach aspiring PDR technicians, they CERTAINLY DO NOT use the heat/cold approach.
