When you call in to report an aggressive driver? After having an incident while my friend was driving I find out that you get transferred around a lot when calling the police and is it even possible for them to make a record of something like this? Do they do anything about it? How do they keep track if someone is reported numerous times?

Just curious if anyone has any knowledge on this subject.

From listening police communication on radio scanner, often the dispatcher will send out a radio call to the cruisers in the area for BOLO (be on look out) and give the description, direction etc.

Or you can gather the info (license plate number is a must) and call in when you get home.

Over the years I have had the police call back to let me know that they have entered the plate number and registered owner's info into their system, and will pay the driver a visit or call them in for an interview if there were multiple reports by different individuals of the same plate/time/incident.

I have even successfully had two individuals charged with careless driving, both pleaded guilty since they must have known that I would appear in court to testify against them if I had gone through the trouble of documenting and reporting them, note both times there were other witnessess as well as I recorded down their plates to include in my report to the police, you need some unbiased independent witness to corroborate your story.

Otherwise it's unlikely a charge will be laid no matter how hard you try.

Don't call the police call state patrol, in Colorado all you have to dial is #277, csp, Colorado state patrol and they don't transfer at all

That'll vary depending upon the state and the jurisdiction. Sure, if you're on a Colorado state road or interstate patrolled by CSP, you won't get transferred. However, if you're on a road patrolled by the local PD/SO they may have to either transfer the call or notify the local patrol who will then respond. The best thing to do is a) know who has jurisdiction over the roads you frequently drive on and b) program the phone numbers of those departments into your cell phone.

Thru past experiences i learned that you have to tell them you think there is an injury or you are scrared of the person. or else they come super slow or dont come at all...

Or you think the driver may be impaired. :)

actions to a erratic driver call: if they call on their cell right away with a plate # and description of vehicle the police will try and stop the offending vehicle. A ticket may be issued on the spot (depending on offence) but usually details are taken from offending driver ie: name, address, driver's licence #. Once a statement is obtained from the complainant if it satisfies the requirements that will hold up in court a ticket is given to the offending driver. The police take the calls seriously, though evidence lacks in some calls.
