Swapping Auto Shifter Unit

So I got a really good deal on the whole shifter unit, and I was wondering if it was direct bolt in or do I have to take everything off to swap it out. I am looking to do the 03 to 07 Shifter Lever swap. Any help would be great...here is a pic of what I ordered so you all know what I am talking about.

As long as the shifter base isn't as wide as the opening in the console once the surround and center pocket are out, it should come out. If not, you're pulling the console out.

I understand that part, but is it a direct replacement from 03 to 07?

I don't think anyone has ever done it. So you will probably have to take apart your own vehicle to find out. You will have to remove your center console, but that is easy, just a few screws and it lifts right out.

I was planning on taking the console out anyway, cause there is a few other things that I am replacing....I guess I will post if it works when I do it in the next few weekends.

That is true. No need to replace the entire assembly. The handle portion can be swapped.

They are exactly the same except the handle....so it will be worthless to do the whole swap, just swap out the handle

No, from what I have read, you need to cut the shaft cause the handle is a little shorter. So if I can do it without having to cut that, then I will cause it would be a lot easier to just drop in.

I used to have an 06 exl shift knob on my 05, but i removed it because it wasnt leather and it was just annoying, i had to mod the knob a tiny bit bc of the square vs circle, but otherwise it was a quick mod that took me under an hour.

So i did this tonight, and it all just bolts right up, didnt have to do any modifications. Looks a lot better then the old crappy one. Ill post up pics later.

You can replace just the knob, but it's a lot of work.
