: How much are people paying for the 2003's

So for those of you w/ the new Accords. Here's a couple of questions.

1. How much are these vehicles going for? What are people paying?

2. Are dealers marking up way over MSRP? (When I bought my 2003 Pilot, I saw dealers marking them up as high as $5000.00 over MSRP here in the Bay Area.) :(

4. What's the availability?

Thanks for any info in advance...

I paid $18,712 in mid-December. That's $250 over invoice. Seems to be plenty of availability. I am in central NJ.

I bought an ex accord, i-4 for $20,500 here at Cush Honda in San Diego. I know Buena Park Honda down here also was going for about $20,400-$21,500 for the ex i4s. At Cush, the ex v6s were going for about $23,100 which I thought was really good also...these are all prices from mid-November which was a bit after those cars were released. I can only imagine those dealers might even be going lower because it's the new year? I got the sedan, but I also noticed at many dealers that I was able to get a bigger discount on the coupes (i don't know why). I had originally wanted the ex i4 coupe and was able to get that to $20,100 at Cush.
In the bay area, I've heard this particular dealer in San Jose is going nearly $800 below invoice for their new accords. I'm not remembering the dealer name right now, but when I do remember, I will post. I think the drive out to San Jose might be worth it if they're selling that much below invoice!!
Hope that helps...

I'm about 30 mins away from San Jose. Was the dealer Anderson Honda?

it wasn't anderson, but, i just got a call from a friend in the bay area who just bought a new 2003 ex-l v6 sedan! he bought his today from Capitol Honda (not sure what city up there), but he got his for $21,300, included destination and taxes. I couldn't believe it! I almost feel like I got ripped off, but I did buy my car mid-November. $21, 300 is really awesome considering sticker MSRP on many of those are $25k before dest and taxes!
so I recommend going to capitol honda!

Hey guys,
As a former car salesman, let me give you some advice:
Don't get fixated on the price.
Do you like what you are driving?
Do you know how many others out there got a "good" deal but are freaking unhappy with their rides? It's called the "I should have" sydrome.
I don't sell anymore, but I don't know how many have come back and said, "I should have."
Spend the cash, or financing, and enjoy your ride. Remember, not everyone does:(
md

By the way, if any of you have any question about how car sales works, feel free to pm or email me.

You know that's exactly what all the car salespeople who I WALKED away from told me. 4 out of 5 open w/ these words of wisdom, right after the infamous "Help me out a little, what can I do to earn your business?" line. Everyone is looking for the best price for the best qulaity items to purchase. Just because a vehicle is in high demand and it is what consumers want, we should'nt be coerced into thinking that an affordable $200 a month for 10 years is a good deal.

i would have to agree with nighthawk. i believe there is nothing wrong with trying to get a good price. most of the people who decide to buy honda have done their research and usually have test driven other cars (camries, mazda 6, altimas, and passats) and decided on the accord. once their choice of car was made, most people in the right mind would go to at least one dealer trying to get the best deal possible. i think you had the misunderstanding that we look for the best price out of the sake of buying a cheap car...before the choice of an accord was made.

nighthawk: have you contacted the dealer yet to get a price? if you want the name of the saleman there, i can get you his name.

21,300 for a loaded EX V6, hmm I dont think so, the invoice for that car is almost 23,000, so you are saying that the dealer lost money when they sold that car. What a bunch of CRAP!!!!!!

I suggest going here and seeing what a lot of people are paying for their 03 accords. http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/WebX?50@219.gFTcbKjiGOC.8@.ef006d2
Everywhere it's different. I hear in Oregon and Washington, all quotes are $500-$800 over invoice. I know in orange county in california, they're going for about $700 below invoice. I only reported what my friend told me :) He got is from Capitol Honda from a guy named Sam Samaha. I think this salesperson has also sold a few accords to the people on the edmunds.com board. No need to be bitter about other people's lucky prospects! If you would like to get your accord from the Bay Area also, I can easily get you a number :)

Invoice is 23,650 dollars, subtract 800 which is feasible. So the cars price is about t22,800,

But you are saying your "friend" got almost 2,000 off invoice. Which is crap. So I just dont understand why individuals will lie to make their purchase look a bit more valid, thats all.

i don't really see why you're so bitter. sure, $2000 off invoice is great, but i really have no reason to lie. i'm only trying to help a guy out in a bay area find a good dealership to go to. you also realize my friend did trade in a car. sometimes dealers will give a really bad trade-in value, but then give you a good deal on the car to reel you in. i'm not sure how much he got for his trade-in, but all in all, i really have absolutely no reason to lie. i don't even see a reason for my friend to lie to me. it's not like we all get our self-pride out of being a cheapskate. i've already gotten my accord for $20,500 before destination and taxes which i thought was a great deal back then. i will give you a private message with the phone number to sam, and if you want, i suggest bugging him about "losing money" off a deal.

I've finally gotten a chance to register for this forum. It seems to be coming along just nicely! Good work admin. !!
I recently purchased a 2003 V6 Coupe in Satin Silver at a dealership here in the Bay Area. I believe Kutiepotpie has already explained the price I got mine for in previous posts. The only problem being is that I got my coupe for $21,300 BEFORE taxes and destination. In the end, I walked away in the mid-$22s.
Nighthawk, if you're still looking, I recommend just going betweem Stevens Creek and Capitol. Just find ONE salesperson and keep egging them on about the other dealerships. I think it was on about the 8th visit I finally purchased my car. The guys at Capitol definetely try and lowball you in the beginning, but just keep at it. There are also various hidden fees tacked on that you need to be stern about removing. Stevens Creek has hidden advertising fees to cover newspaper ads and what not. At capitol, the particular car I was looking at had all sorts of "appearance" upgrades that don't even total $100 in parts, but they charge $700 for. If you don't want them, ask them to remove them. They will insist they'll need to order it and it will take a while for the car to arrive, but usually they'll have them in the back in stock or separate stock lot, hidden away. Why buy your car with add-ons you really don't want?
Mike, I did get my car for an awesome price. I have only met 2 other people who've gotten similar good deals...both who've bought from my same dealership. Hey, invoice is still invoice, but there are always holdback fees and other incentives that the dealer receives for certain fleets. I might have gotten lucky, but the dealers will not sell to you if they lose money. Maybe I'm a smooth talker, being a salesperson myself...or maybe that car salesman was having a bad day.
All I recommend is going to more than one dealership and seeing your options, especially if you live in a small town with only one dealer, drive out and find the better deal, even if it's 100 miles away! Nighthawk, if you need extra contacts, I will gladly help. What trimline were you looking to purchase?

What year/ make of car did you trade in? And what finance rate did you receive for your trade.

For instance, I could get the EX V6 with all the options for 20,000K,and think to myself that Im getting a great deal. But inorder to figure the overall price you have to take into consideration the interest rate you received, also you have to take into consideration the value of the trade in, if the car is Market valued at 10,000 but hte dealres says yeah we will give you 7,000 for the trade in, then they say if you accept the trade in value of 7,000 well make the price of the car 21,00, do you still think you are getting the car for such a great value, NO.

Dealers KNOW what they are doing, even if you think you are a great salesman, its their job to sell cars for a living, so when you think you are getting the best of them YOU ARENT.

So all in all, you might have thought you got a great deal, but in the end, everyone gets the same price for the car within a few hundred dollars. For example , when I purchased my ex V6 03 Sedan a few months ago, they quoted me a price of 22,500, but that was only if I traded in my 00 Honda Accord EX V6 for $8,000, I told them I would think about it. came back, sold the accord privately for much more then they were offering, suddenly the price increased to 23,900, you want to know why the price increased, because they werent getting the money from my trade in. Take everything into consideration before you tell everyone the price you are payin for the car.

From Consumer Reports years ago, I learned that the difference between MSRP and invoice was about 10%. So for an Accord with A/T, the MSRP is $20k and the invoice is about $18k.

I got my Accord from Ken Dixon In Waldorf, MD. They had LXs advertised for about $18,000. Since I also got my Odysee from them last year, I participated in a point-like incentive program and got an additional $450 off.

I just bought from Herson's Honda in Maryland for about $500 below dealer cost (actual cost, not invoice). Dealer finance beat the (really low) rate I came in with. Trade-in appraisal was low, CarMax gave me $1500 more. Salesman was professional, even though I had him over a barrel. My first positive car-buying experience :-)

MSRP $20,250
Paid $17,500

Hi Everyone,

I just bought my 2003 Accord coupe EX-L, V6 for $400.00 over invoice. Invoice was $23,764 and I paid $24,164. No bickering here about the price. I went through www.stoneage.com to get this car for the internet price. This dealership even gave me Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com) value for my 99 Accord EX sedan.

I bought my car from Capital Honda in San Jose, CA. I must say, that the salesman that I worked with was Awesome. Here's his contact information.
