After reading the school bus thread when the kid did not stop I remembered something that happened to me. Did not want to hijack the previous thread.

I was on my way to Ocean City MD on my GSXR600. I got off the turnpike earlier so that I could take the back twisty roads. So I am just riding and enjoying my self and the nice weather @ the time. Its a 2 way street with divided marks, meaning you can pass. I go to pass this one kid, put my signal on, get in the opposite lane, accelerate and the kid pulls out in front of me.....just pulls out with out passing the car in front of him. Then he starts flicking me off and shit. So I fall back....he slams on his breaks...OK! Thats when I got really pissed off. So I followed him in town, we get to the first light and he stops. I passed him on the left in a turning lane and when passing I put a size 13 shoe dent in his driver door....I was aiming for the mirror but it was a bit too high. So then I stop about three cars in front of him, put my bike in neutral and and kick the stand out. I was waiting for him to get out of the car......but he did not.

I know, that there was a bit of road rage in what I did but at the time I was very pissed off (usually I am like a tank....takes a while for something to piss me off) about the fact that he was trying to hit me TWICE with his car!

Anyways heres my story.....oh yeah the kid was probably like 17-18, had his girl in the car with him.

What do you guys think?

He had it coming, and I will add you are a hell of a lot nicer than me when when my life is in danger. I would of punched him it the face personally.

i argeed with cbp...u are alot nicer than me...if he did that to me i woulda just got off the bike and punch him while he was in the car....what he did u coulda got hurt, and he was just acting like because his girl was in the car...and russ777 what year is that bike?

I figured that's why.

Mine is a 1999 GSXR600......one in my avatar

Not enough!

Carry spark plugs with you, and let that ceramic break that fools windshield. Works great. But the imprint of your boot was a very nice touch! Good going, screw all people that would endanger someone else for no reason, especially the fact that your on a bike.

Stage 2 jet kit, 520 -1+2 conversion, Full Yoshimura exhaust, dynoed @ 109 HP to the rear wheel. Its sweet, but with the sprocket set my top end died at like 135 mph.

I wish man.....I got hit by a semi about 1.5 months ago.....****er just cut me off and kept going. I was in the left lane of I83S going about 50-60mph when I saw the front end of the truck half way in my lane....so I slammed on my breaks and went all the way to the left. but there was maybe like a foot of curb there, not enough........He hit me with his rear trailer wheel on my shoulder and thats when my bike lost control. I guess I let go of my handlebars too late but the bike landed on my helmet and my head was stuck under the bike. As I was sliding down the interstate the only thing I could think of was what if my body flips and my head being stuck under the bike......so I was fighting with the bike trying to get it off my head, finaly got my head loose (rear pegs were stuck on my chin, which tore up my chit pretty bad) I felt my arms eating into the asphalt (I only had a tee on......****ing stupid)......then I rolled a couple more times and finally stopped. Thank god the traffic behind me stopped and thank god I slowed down because if I would not have the semi would probably run me over with his rear trailer wheels!

****ing night mare......be safe out there man....Philly is even worse...people cutting people off everywhere.

NOW I REALLY WISH I COULD PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE, AND MAYBE RAM A 12 GAUGE UP HIS ASS AND PULL THE TRIGGER!

If I do get back on the bike its going to be weekend toy only.....you really have to be focused when riding.

B4 I used my bike to go to work, school, shopping, etc.......big mistake

Rus777, Well you defended your honor, but risked being shot, was that worth it? You just never know what another driver is carrying, and if this situation escalated higher, and he pulled a gun, what would you do? Far better to just leave things alone, and get out of harms way.

If you both had firearms, it could have escalated into a shoot-out, in which case you would risk defending yourself in court. A court defense today begins at $25,000, is that worth it? No one wins in these terrible situations, except the people who leave situation behind them. Regards

RUS777:

I rode Honda bikes almost 19 (nineteen) years, from 1967 until 1985. The world was a very different place back then. Motorists drove DEFENSIVELY. Now they drive OFFENSIVELY. Sadly, the driving environment has become very HOSTILE, involving lots of "Road Rage." It is particularly acute for MOTORCYCLISTS.

There are ONLY two (2) kinds of Motorcyclists: A) Those who have had an accident, and B) those who are going to have an accident. Not a question of "if," only a question of "when." The more you push your luck, the sooner you end up in the Obituary column.

Like Searich07 said, the clown might have been "packing." Might have lost his composure, blown your A$$ away, and disappeared. And if you're splattered all over the pavement, DEAD as a doornail, it really does NOT matter who is right and who is wrong.

I don't blame you for doing a little "bodywork" on his left door, but you are always much SMARTER to NOT "poke a stick in a Hornet's nest." In a "car vs. bike" battle, the CAR wins 99 percent of the time. Soccer Moms in a 5,000-pound SUV win EVERY time.

This reminds of the poor guy riding the cruiser during rush hour on the interstate the friday before labor day. I watched car after car try to drive in his lane. He had loud exhaust, and yet no one saw him until it was too late.

That same day a guy in a CBR600 cut me off, and I had my blinker on for the little gap in the right lane that I was trying to fit in. He went around me at the last possible second coming from 10 car lengths back while cutting everyone else off. We almost shared that lane or worse. All could think of that day that I was a split second from killing some idiot.
The bad part of it was that he used that little space that I was trying get into for the exit to pass me.

well i understand your reasoning on kicking his door as he really did endanger your life but you have to also think about possible consequences...

1. cop sees you kicking his car...your at fault no matter what
2. he has a gun...he shoots you...
3. he has a knife...you fight him and end up stabbing him in self defense...but you are stuck in court defending yourself against a judge
4. he rear ends you and drives off...did you get his license plate already?

lets all just be safe...

Yeah man, theres idiots out there.....

But I am sure some of the guys that have bikes will tell you that you become so ****y on the bike...thinking that you can zip through traffic, split lanes, etc. The fact of the matter is......Motorcycles are the most vulnerable means of transportation...and SHOULD only be used to their fullest potential on the race track.

At ONLY a velocity of 60 miles per hour, you are moving at a rate of one (1) mile per minute, every minute, or 88 feet per second, every second.

You hit the pavement on a bike? They will be scraping up your remains with a shovel...for probably 100+ yards...sticking it in plastic garbage bags. That is, what they can FIND left of you.

A motorcycle and a 5,000-pound SUV, both moving at a velocity of 60 miles per hour, involved in a head-on collision, a "closing velocity" of 120 miles per hour applies. (Linear, dynamically-opposed force vectors directly apply.) So does an exponential function, respective to velocity. KE = 1/2(M)(V), squared. Kinetic Energy equal one-half the mass, times the velocity, squared. Physics is often MEAN stuff, Folks! :D

Care to consider the consequences if you're rolling along at 120 miles per hour? :paranoid:

Classic Newtonian Physics is what you are referring to by showing the Kinetic Energy formula are only perfect in an imaginary world (assumptions, exclusions, etc) They do however give you a guideline of how things behave themselves.

You just cannon assume that going 60mph and falling will make you slide a 100' and then somebody is going to scrape you of the pavement........the fact of the matter is.........well nobody scraped me off the pavement :dunno:

Luck? Maybe......
Static and Kinetic Friction? maybe......
Momentum? Most definitely......

There are way too many factors to list.

Oh, man...

Similar situation (trying to pass a vehicle, doing the entire procedure properly) happens to me often - especially if I'm driving my Civic and passing an ^$%&$%&$% driving the car he considers "mighty". I even had situations when I'd start passing and the driver would switch to the left lane completely (without direction lights) just to stop me from passing him!

As for the motorcycles - I LOVE them - but I don't ride them, at least here: roads are terrible, drivers are even worse and I don't want to risk my life more than I already do.

I'm glad you are typing this post after such an accident

Yes, I was trained with Sir Isaac's "Classical" Physics. Dr. Einstein and myself, we've always struggled. Er, rather he is good at dumbfounding me. Quantum Mechanics is a theoretician's "Paradise," but it's a practitioner's "Hell!" :lmao:

Sure, lots of factors to consider in a bike accident. Aside from a helmet, WHAT are you wearing? T-shirt, cut-off shorts, and sandals? Or full leathers? Did you separate from the bike? Or stay with it? Did it roll over on you multiple times? Did it lay on top of you, as you slid down the pavement? Did you get run over by another vehicle(s), after you hit the ground? I could go on and on, but you get my point. And vice-versa. :)

I've seen that type of behavior before on the road. Maybe not to a bike, but some people just live to be jerks on the road. I think some of them actually "gett off" by seeing how many people they can piss off in a day. They are often loser types of people looking for attention in the only way they can get it b/c they are losers.

That being said...you should really refrain from the kicking part. I'm not gonna lie to you...under castle doctrine in many states....the driver can kill you if they feel threated. If I saw someone try to kick my car with an aim at the side miror (which is next to my window)....I'd take the first opportunity to shoot my 9mm.

Road rage is best kept inside. If it escapes, it can easily look like a threat to someone's life.

But all and all I prefer Newtonian Physics over Quantum. I like logic, and quantum seem to have none. It is all relative.....

RUS777:

I vastly prefer Newtonian (nee, Classical) Physics, particularly because I understand it better, and I can apply it better, in the real world. Einstein's "General Theory of Relativity" is murderous, especially the finer details of his concepts of "Time." After one or two paragraphs, I've got a killer migraine headache. :(

Quantum Mechanics becomes a real "brain buster" when, for example, you consider accelerating a given mass to "infinity." Ergo, since we cannot accelerate a particle BEYOND the speed of light (C, squared), then HOW do you go about precisely calculating the result? How do you go about explaining and PROVING "String Theory?" With even more theories? HOW do you explain the "Dark Energy" in the Universe? When I was in college, we never even heard of "String Theory." :dunno:

I'll leave that for the Ph.D. candidates to debate.

Meanwhile, my simpleton mind understands the basics...such as basic principles of acceleration. Dropping a ball, involving a constant gravity, the rate is expressed as 9.8 meters per second, squared. Or 32 feet per second, squared. :)

Well there are some objects/particles that can travel with the speed of light......... basically anything can travel with the speed of light as long as it has zero body mass at rest, which there are particles that do that.

Now what really blows my mind is that the closer you get to the speed of light the slower you time goes (proven by nasa). Now if any of those particles do travel faster that the speed of light, does that mean that they travel back in time? :dunno: Is that mean that time traveling is possible and achievable? :dunno:

I agree with you 100% that Newtonian physics is more appealing, I prefer it better I should say. Just like the example with a conductor....From classic physics field inside the conductor is zero therefore there is no force acting on the particle, therefore the particle is going to be inside the conductor, probably in the center (sphere conductor for example). Quantum physics asks the same question......Where would the particle be.......ad the answer is somewhere outside the sphere...not known......

There are way too many examples of how Quantum physics differ from Classical.......but classical has been proven so many times (yes there was error, but error analysis is just another part of classical physics), and modern..........:dunno:

Did they ever find that unifying force in the universe? Will? :dunno: that is definitely something Physics PhD area.
