: How dark should my tints be?
DANGEROUS 11-10-2009, 01:52 AM I want to know your opinions guys, how dark should the tints be? I'm in LA most of my time, but i go to school in fullerton. How dark have you guys gone without attracting any attention or trouble? Would it be a bad decision to get limo tints, is it hard to see? would it attract a lot of police attention? thanks in advance.
joshsch 11-10-2009, 06:19 AM I've got limo tint all the way around. I live out in the Antelope Valley and I've really only been messed with by the CHP. I've been pulled over once in my Accord by a sherrif but he let me go. I did however get a ticket for it in my Scion by the CHP. The guy was a total a$$. I've had the tint on for about a year now.
nolefan32 11-10-2009, 07:01 AM Different states have different limits; if you get your tinting professionally done, the shop should know how far they can take you legally for your state.
I wouldn't push it - you never know when you're going to come across a cop that's behind on his quota and have him pull you over to check your tints.
1OfManyNguyens 11-10-2009, 07:49 AM It is illegal to have any tint on the driver and passenger side windows in Cali but cops normally dont care as much as other states due to the heat but if you want to be on the safe side i would say 35%. That being said i have 20% all around it makes me a little paranoid but i havent heard anything from cops (ive only had it for 3 weeks though). I live in Fullerton right down the street from CSUF.
I have 15% all around, just got on sat, the day after a CHP officer at chevron told me "clean car, I like your tint" lol
1-VT3C 11-10-2009, 08:15 AM IMO, 25-35% all around=Perfect.
wizputer 11-10-2009, 09:08 AM I have 55 front and 5 rear... haven't had any problems from CHP/PD/Sheriff anywhere in the Valley or Bay Area in the past 6 months
DANGEROUS 11-10-2009, 10:21 AM Guys, i already know i couldnt get tints in the front, i dont really care about laws, i just wanted to know how far i should push my limits of darkness :)
CaMole 11-10-2009, 02:26 PM I'm in Garden Grove and Cypress most of the time. Occasionally LA and never once have I been pulled over by a cop for my tints. I have 20% all around but I will admit I get paranoid. I actually think my tints are too dark. I think 20% in the rear and 35% on the sides would have been best. Doesn't look too dark(clean), visibility isn't sacrificed too much while still providing enough to block the heat, and most of all cops wouldnt hassle you for 35% on the sides.
namegoeshere 11-10-2009, 02:36 PM If you want to be safe, 35-45%.
Keep in mind also that since you have a black interior, it's going to appear as if your tint is darker.
KHANHNGO 11-10-2009, 02:53 PM 35 front 20 rear
That's what I have and I have yet to get a ticket in Cali. *knocks on wood*
1OfManyNguyens 11-10-2009, 03:10 PM In addition. I just asked my cousin in law (CHP) and my old friend from HS (Sheriff) and they said most of their cop friends will give a fix it ticket for 5% (limo).

You can have tints in the front windows. They just have to be able to show 70% of light through it.
CaMole 11-10-2009, 10:24 PM True that. I think 35% on the sides will match the PMM much better than 5-20%. For the rear I think 20% would be good. Any darker than that you won't be able to see sh*t at night.

how about the blue..? lol
i just want to see how far i can go before getting in trouble :)
Mochimellow 11-11-2009, 04:10 PM 35% is more than dark enough for the front. At night, it's very hard to see into the car with 35% tint in the front. I have 5% in the back. I haven't gotten in trouble for the front....yet. But you should be okay
coupe09 11-11-2009, 04:27 PM get 20%. I live near Chicago and now that Illinois passed the new tint law where u can have 35% all around I am a little safer. Even before the law though, I would always drive by cops and they never did anything. If I were u I wouldn't go passed 20%. 20 is perfect and still lets u see out at night.
CaMole 11-11-2009, 11:48 PM *smacks self in the head* Actually I think 20% would better match the BBP.. I mean I have 20% on a black on black which is pretty damn dark but never got hassled by the law yet. Just do whatever you want. Don't get limo tints though, its overkill. 20% all around gets my vote.
