I have a Honda carphone in my car(96) and It was prevously hooked up with AT&T and I went back to the store when I got the car and they said that since it's an ESN and not a sim card phone they can't do anything cause they can't deal with ESN numbers anymore. Any help? Can I hook it up with a different company? I am wanting to use it cause Its pretty much just taking up space.

Why would you want to pay for a plan on a phone that you will only be near for an hour or so per day instead of a cell phone in your pocket that is always with you?

I'm sure that phone wont function anymore. Networks have changed technologies etc. Just rip it out.

I know there is some converter you can get that will allow it to work.
That's awesome. IF you find a converter of some sort, post up!
If I found one of those units, I'd put it in the Prelude. Talk about campy retro. :)

I agree, car phones were top notch 15 years ago, I would keep it in the car even if you can't get it to work just because they are fairly rare nowadays. I am pretty sure there is a converter though, just google it.

This is an analog phone. Cell phone carriers no longer support analog signals.
Sorry, but your phone is no longer useable.
You think you're bummed, just ask anyone who bought an OnStar equiped GM vehicle from as recently as 2003...... all pre-2004 OnStar equiped cars used analog and when cell phone carriers went digital they lost their OnStar for good. Many, many unhappy people.
And I do agree with the others - the analog car phone of the 1990s had great reception and strong signal. By then the technology had been refined to the point it really had superior signal compared to digital. Just like purists who insist that a good quality vinyl album played on top notch stereo equipment will sound better than the digital CD equivalent every time.

Can't you use a analog to digital converter?

Can't you use a analog to digital converter?
No, sorry, this isn't like the digital television conversion that just happened where they do make converters for your old analog TV.
This article from 2008 about sums it up for ya:
