: arguing
anysia 11-03-2005, 10:02 AM so who here argues just to argue? do you do it for fun? do you do it because you have nothing else to do? do you do it because your stressed? answer yes or no above if you do it, then feel free to elaborate below as to why you do or don't do it!
RTexasF 11-03-2005, 10:07 AM I used to argue about the time of day, now, fuhgetaboutit!
Life is time and time is short.
EXLNavi 11-03-2005, 10:24 AM I don't argue.
I post.
:)
Actually most of my "arguments" here have been about putting forth my viewpoint on things.
The radio issue - I'm (almost) an electrical engineer and I went to trade school and graduated with a diploma in electronics, and I am a ham radio operator. I have serviced and built many pieces of electronic equipment including radios and antennas. I have been building antennas, climbing towers and doing all of that good stuff. I know what I'm talking about. I know the issue from a technical standpoint as to why Honda radio reception ****s.
Rental cars - My experience probably has been different from yours. I know people who owned used ones and their experiences have been good. Call it a difference of opinion.
The price of gas - I don't believe that the oil companies are unfairly raising prices. I do believe that demand is up and that the Government is unfairly and excessively taxing gasoline. I hate Bush, I hate Halliburton and I hate big corporations but I don't think there's a grand conspiracy by Big Oil to squeeze the middle class.
Call it arguing, I call it standing up for what you believe is right.

anysia 11-03-2005, 11:17 AM hmmm, me thinks people are not being too honest here!! :lmao:
EXLNavi 11-03-2005, 12:13 PM okay, who voted yes?
stevel 11-03-2005, 12:35 PM I voted sometimes. once in a while its fun. :lmao:
anysia 11-03-2005, 12:39 PM i was in the sometimes category. sometimes it's funny to watch how feverishly people will defend things.
no idea who voted yes.
ericrwalker 11-03-2005, 12:41 PM [QUOTE=anysia]i was in the sometimes category. sometimes it's funny to watch how feverishly people will defend things. QUOTE]
Yeah I know you want to buy a rental car.

Yeah I know you want to buy a rental car.
oh, yeah, that's right. that's my life goal. to have my very own previous rental car. :lmao:
BenjiBoy650 11-03-2005, 02:32 PM Of course I argue just to argue. Otherwise, my life would be empty!
princess 11-03-2005, 02:59 PM
but I sometimes let it go, just to let it go too...even if I know it's wrong..... by wrong I don't mean that I just don't agree, I mean actually wrong. I figure sometimes the best way to learn is to make mistakes. :)
psyshack 11-03-2005, 05:03 PM I really dont like to argue. It may seem like that. But its really not me. To argue for arguements sake is like going to a bar and starting a fight for no reason. I dont start the fight but I wont back down from it. Age is also helping and the fact Im always imbroiled in battles at work with degree'd morons. I win about 90% of the time. The energy expended and the time needed to do this everyday is getting very old.
Windchimp 11-03-2005, 05:28 PM "Oh I'm sorry, is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour?"
EXLNavi 11-04-2005, 03:19 AM I hate the word "argue" because it implies malice.
There is really none. I am still good friends with you guys despite the numerous discussions we've had and I hope it stays that way. The only thing different is that you guys now know what people care about and what their position is on things.
Forums by their nature encourage discussion. I wouldn't discourage it.
When it gets personal is where I'd draw the line. As far as possible, I discuss the issue. I try NEVER to get personal.
anysia 11-04-2005, 07:40 AM we should resort to peaceful issues. kitties. can't see how that can turn into an "argument" of any sort. :lmao: just look at the cute kitties and well, argument be done. :lmao:
princess 11-04-2005, 08:01 AM I ONLY like cats with long hair..... any "arguments"??? :lmao:
Tabbies are the smartest ones.
White cats with blue eyes are deaf.
:naughty:
hermann 11-04-2005, 08:25 AM Do you like this one Princess? My GF sent it to me. A Halloween kitty I think.
anysia 11-04-2005, 08:29 AM princess, trying to start arguments over kitties??
darn.
princess 11-04-2005, 08:31 AM When I was a kid I tormented our pets by putting them in doll clothes.....
Now Disney Direct sells costumes for pets & I'd never do that to them.... we have put headbands on them with bats or shamrocks, etc. Maybe an occational scarf.....
Those are some mighty BIG eyes that kitty has!!!
princess 11-04-2005, 08:33 AM I can start an argument over pretty much anything if I wanted to....a talent of mine :lmao:
Just making a point....sometimes we can find fault with anything....even cute little kitty cats!
hermann 11-04-2005, 08:33 AM here's another one for you..
EXLNavi 11-04-2005, 09:24 AM I like cats because they pose well for photos. Lots of interesting shots.
Dogs too, but I don't have the outdoors space yet to get really interesting shots with dogs.
EXLNavi 11-04-2005, 09:29 AM Im always imbroiled in battles at work with degree'd morons. I win about 90% of the time. The energy expended and the time needed to do this everyday is getting very old.
Ditto.
Most of my "fights" are via email though. In this place you have to cover all of your bases or else they'll "throw you under the bus" very quickly!
I hate to say it, but sometimes some people can be so prejudiced at work. Not your typical white vs. colored type of prejudice, but this time it's Indian people against me (because I wasn't born in India). There are a couple of them who are politicking here to make me look bad just so that they can bring their indian buddies to work here.
They talk in hindi behind my back, thinking I don't understand them, but I do understand a little, so I hear all of the nonsense they're saying about me.
But the nice thing is that my boss always backs me up and I bring results so I am not worried.
dads-car 11-04-2005, 11:29 AM Not always, but I have certianly had arguments that I will never forget. The ones where they say something, and you twist it up and use it against them. Those arguments are the best.
As for cats? We've got 2 and I'm not sure that I appreciated Possum scratching the underneath of my bed this morning. It's a trick she's somehow learned - When she does that we'll open the cat door and let them outside. Maybe not, we don't want catfights around here... I gave her a sharp tap on the bum and shut her in the hallway.
But otherwise they're great, loving pets.
EXLNavi 11-04-2005, 11:32 AM Not letting any cat go outside. There's too much that can happen out there. The kids around here are mean, and there's traffic so who knows what will happen...
anysia 11-04-2005, 12:19 PM I can start an argument over pretty much anything if I wanted to....a talent of mine :lmao:
Just making a point....sometimes we can find fault with anything....even cute little kitty cats!
i wanna see princess argue over whether wood toilet seats or plastic toilet seats or cushion toilet seats are better. should we start a poll?? :lmao:
princess 11-04-2005, 12:33 PM Wood is warmer, plastic is cleaner & I just don't do cushion.... sometimes I wish I did, but they just don't appeal to me.
If there's lots of wood trim in the john, then wood seats look really nice. If they're alone, why bother?
We have plastic on both commodes. I like white. Crisp & clean.
So I guess it depends ( :D ) on whether you're going for looks, comfort or cleanliness.
I used to know a Siamese cat that used the toilet....
EXLNavi 11-04-2005, 01:44 PM I don't care about toilet seats all that much, whatever's there is what works.
stiller fan 11-05-2005, 08:29 AM i can see an argument starting over the naming of the kitten.... :lmao:
as for me, sometimes..... usualy over stupid stuff too (politics, stiller football, etc.)
ok, stiller football isn't stupid, but didn't feel like changing it..... ;)
